In fairness I think you are wearing some Man U tinted specs there. There was contact sure, enough to bring him down? I think not. You are basically saying that any contact in the box followed by a fall is a penalty. I don't think it'd require much contact to trip a player changing direction at speed. Could Young have stayed on his feet? I don't know. Unless you can prove that Young initiated contact then you have no cause to accuse him of diving; only of exaggerating the severity of the foul. If you believe, as the referee did, that he was fouled, you'd still have to award the penalty. This is exactly why you can't punish diving retrospectively.

when the person that dived kicks out their leg to initiate contact. I agree that you could legitimately punish players in instances where no contact is made. However, as I've said, I don't think anyone can prove conclusively whether or not a player has initiated contact, and as such I don't think you can justify punishment as long as there's an element of doubt.

how can you say that warrants a penalty? he deliberately goes for the contact! and the way he jumps... jeez anyway, he's not the first and won't be the last unless refs start using technology for cases like this one.

thing is you don't get the same interpretation (by public, journalists, etc.) after watching it several times. so if even after watching and stopping the video you can't be really sure, why would you do that in the middle of a match? the referee would have to trust the operator who broadcasts it to give him the right images from the correct angle. because sometimes you see a different thing on every replay... and it is impossible to make it in every field, including a lot of professional clubs' fields. Football is not based on different rules for those who can afford it and those who can't. I think the solution is to improve referees level. And punishing divers. But now players with bad fame are not trusted when they receive a fault, so that shows us that referees usually whistle what they want.

A Utd win would have essentially won the league for them, but they fucked it up. Now it's going down to the wire and it's in Citeh's own hands....
Citeh's league to lose now. Sadly.

Somehow, someway, third place is back in our own hands. Thanks Citeh and Villa!
I don't think I ever remember a time when every team in the top 6 all had something to play for heading into the final game of the season.....
Up the Arsenal!
