TBH I wouldnt have given a shit if they lost but cmon, you have to celebrate a win, especially if someone with Carrolls rep scores. But seriously I dont know what was more surprising, us winning or Carroll scores.

Arsene Wenger's magic. He wears a magic hat. And when he saw third place, he said "I'm having that"

Wigan 1 Manchester United 0, guess the title race is back on again. Who scored Wigan's goal by the way?

Harry for England!
What absolute bollocks.
If Harry gets the job, he'd be ranked along side McClaren and Taylor, with the former being the worst of my life time.
Here's hoping Liverpool win the cup, though.

Doesn't matter who manages England. They'll be shit anyway.

ashley young is an embarrassment, it's about time these diving cheats were able to be punish retrospectively.

^Says a fan of the team who got the penalty. And why hasn't Webb got a players contract yet for Manchester United?

Maybe if he didn't stop giving incorrect penalties to both Manc clubs then I'd watch the EPL again.

My problem is with people deceiving the officials and i think they need to be punished after the fact. the refs are not biased it was only the game before last that poor decisions cost us so lets not be stupid about it. Anyone else think a dive in the penalty area should be a red card offense not a yellow?

Anyone else think a dive in the penalty area should be a red card offense not a yellow? Definitely not. First it'd be necessary to prove intent, and then you should consider that the referee is just as liable to award an incorrect card for diving as he is to award an incorrect penalty. It happened to Carlos Tevez against Norwich on Saturday.

Thats exactly why it should be retrospective. Red card for diving, 3 match ban. People will stop doing it.

Thats exactly why it should be retrospective. Red card for diving, 3 match ban. People will stop doing it. In the case of Ashley Young there was contact, contact enough to warrant a penalty. Although I believe he exaggerated the foul, I don't agree that a theatrical fall (where preceded by a foul) is conclusive proof of cheating to the point where it warrants a red card, retrospectively or otherwise. While we're on the subject of retrospective justice: Grant Henley escaped sanction for elbowing Paul Scholes in the head at Blackburn a couple of weeks ago. No-one can prove that he did it intentionally. Could I reasonably argue that the incident warrants a retrospective red card and three match ban because I reckon he probably meant it?

In fairness I think you are wearing some Man U tinted specs there. There was contact sure, enough to bring him down? I think not. You are basically saying that any contact in the box followed by a fall is a penalty.
Even if the case is not clear technology could still be used in a lot of cases where the dive is very clear as they often are. This applies to the elbows too, and any type of professional foul that is clear but has been missed by officials. It may not get them all but if bans start being handed out people will think twice.

It happened to Carlos Tevez against Norwich on Saturday. All i'm suggesting is at the moment it is a yellow card and i think when it is in the penalty area and you are attempting to cheat it should be upped, yes mistakes will still be made and there is never going to be a solution to that. As for retrospectives i think there are some cases where it is possible when there is no contact or when the person that dived kicks out their leg to initiate contact I don't think every exaggerated movement should be punished but i also don't think iwe can leave it as it stands as it will move close to a non contact sport. As for the specifics of ashley young it was not a foul against villa it was simply a dive.
