all misformusic said a few weeks ago ws that noel would make an annoucement after the wedding and i think everyone knew that, alisson gives a date they didn't, they just stated the obvious |

If it's only okay, then history will still continue to look at him as the great songwriter who fizzled out. But if he really succeeds (in terms of quality, doesn't have to be commercially), then he could finally throw off that title of being "washed up". |

Noel has the potential to be the next Burt Baccharach or post-modern Sinatra, depending on the wide appeal [or otherwise] of the goods he will be unleashing.
I just hope he doesn't go down the route of overcooking the tunes and swamping the production with needless overdubbing and too-elaborate arrangements.
At this stage, he needs to put out simple, singalong tunes that hit home effectively: otherwise his career will be a 'law of diminishing returns' job, that will be difficult for him to recover from.
Noel will only get one shot at a sterling debut solo album: I truly hope he won't blow it.

Noel will only get one shot at a sterling debut solo album: I truly hope he won't blow it. Somehow the lack of Noel news makes me more confident in his album than Liam's arrogance (best album of the next 50 years? I hope not!) made me confident in BDI. It seems like his stuff is so good he doesn't need to bring much attention to it. Or maybe I'm just desperate for a real epic album that will be remembered as one of the best since 2000... |

There is also the tweet from the FHM journalist who said that he was meeting Noel on Wednesday (which has recently been removed from his twitter). It's not like the Sun is the only source. Were up to three sources now. That's enough for me, really. I can understand throwing out the Sun because their crap. But the FHM tweet is pretty solid, and the only reason you're throwing out Alisson as a source is because you clearly have something against the guy. And it shows in your post. If he's wrong, he's wrong. But he won't be wrong because he just randomly pulled it out of his ass. Anyways, if you don't believe, then don't believe. But you don't have to be a dick about it. |

I am only surprised that the NME is reporting it as a rumor if it is indeed true. They would have to have been near the top of the list of media outlets to be informed of an imminent announcement.
Anyone here in media? How far in advance do they let the journalist know?
I thought there was a good chance of it being true when I first read this thread yesterday. Glad that there seems to be more corroboration.
Fingers crossed that we're 4 days out from news. I am hoping website/single/album title @ least (if not release date) announcement. There had been rumors of a few summer gigs...so a couple small gig announcements would be great as well.
I would think a press conference is a great idea if you are big enough to warrant one. After all that ensures you get a decent amount of coverage in every magazine/paper at the outset...and then you still have the one-on-one interviews with any of those sources down the line closer to the release. Plus for Noel hopefully many of the really boring questions will be out of the way. He can say once what he thinks of BDI and DGSS and it'll be out there, but that is probably hoping for too much.

The subject meeting with large numbers of the press at once to make an announcement and answer a few questions I think the insinuation isn't that he is meeting with Noel on the day of his press conference but the he will be meeting Noel @ the press conference. As in he will be the journalist representing FHM @ the conference. |
