Blackfield: Drummer is very talented. He's from Ephat, also criminally underrated. I got into them thanks to Steven Wilson, but Tomer is a lot better than Maitland (opinion)

The Coral.
Also I'd say the Stone Roses and La's are underrated in the sense that they weren't as big as they probably should have been.

The Strokes... atleast they deserve(d) a lot i think they will be seen as the 2000's VU What? lol. No band that sells out MSG and debuts at #3 on the charts with their 4th record can be called underrated. They're most definitely overrated. The Coral is the best shout in this thread. Barely any recognition outside of the UK and even there its sparse these days.

The Courteeners....while I don't hate Kasabian, the Courteeners deserve to be right up there with them, if not surpassing them. What a band.
And of course The Twang, while I'm at it.

Courteeners I agree with, also, if you haven't heard it, definitely pick up a copy of The Rascals album.

I do agree with The Coral and The Rascals. I just saw The Coral for the second time last week and they were brilliant.

I Am Kloot, although they became a bit more popular with last year's album Definitely. All those bands (the coral, the la's, the stone roses, the courteeners...) are particularly underrated here in Portugal. I'll even add Oasis to the list.

Loads of great bands that don't even get half as much mainstream exposure as they deserve...
22-20s, Little Barrie, Ocean Colour Scene, The Coral, The Moons, even amazes me how few people these days know who the Small Faces were!

There's an insane x-factor ballad cover of Embrace's One Big Family on a TV advert at the moment, where the chick wisely changes the lyric 'I own your arse' to 'I own your heart', and must be one of the most unlikely covers ever.

Yeah I saw that on TV last week and I was thinking 'I know this song from somewhere', and then it clicked. I was gobsmacked it was Embrace - good to see a bit of attention towards a relatively obscure song.

I also think James are an incredibly underrated band. Personally, best album is Pleased To Meet You from 2001 - that's like 20 years after they formed!
Incredible to think that in an era when folk raved silly over a new U2 album even when everyone knew it wasn't going to be anywhere near their best work (don't get me wrong, love U2), yet James release their best work and nobody cares. It's a shame I think.

To me it's gotta be You Am I.
Coulda been right up there with those Britpop bands if they were British. Coulda been right up there in the garage rock revival if they were younger. Were a fine band and still are. The Gallaghers love them... and so they should.

How I keep missing Marillion, God knows:
Side note: If you've seen a 1991 movie called Jute City, singer played Ferguson in it. Still have nightmares of meeting said character in elavators!
