Really? I think I get what you're saying. The beach boys were a superb band, and I'm just not saying that bc they're from LA. the stuff brian wilson did was some of the best ever. Don't think it can be overlooked how he branched out to new things without really the support of the label or his band. One of the first really. they were big, but they didn't have the "no matter what" support of the beatles. plus noel could hear some stuff in pet sounds or the smile sessions (WHICH IS FINALLY GETTING RELEASED) that could probably inspire him in a good way. even late 60s/early 70s beach boys would be up his alley. or give the dennis wilson album a spin. i know ashcroft is a fan of that album, and one of the coldplay dudes said "river song" is his fav album ever. even liam would go nuts on that tune, big epic and soulful. noel just needs to get over his dislike of them. Pet Sounds was 30 years ahead of its time when it came out, and its still 30 years ahead of its time. Love Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys.

Hawthorne is actually on the outskirts of LA, about 20mn out. Anaheim is a complete different animal. That's in Orange County about 45mn out of LA, people are on a complete different vibe than us LA folks, incredibly conservative. Hawthorne still has that super mellow vibe.. maybe cos Compton is next door. thanks for the info. duly noted! +k the stuff brian wilson did was some of the best ever. Don't think it can be overlooked how he branched out to new things without really the support of the label or his band. How can he dislike Beach Boys yet like Kasabian? The same way I used to ask how a majority of Americans can dismiss Oasis as "Talentless Beatle Wannabe's", and then flock by the millions to go see the likes of Nickelback & Maroon 5 live in concert. I like to call it personalized individual taste preferences. I could care less what Noel likes or doesn't like. As long as I continue to be satisfied with 85% of the songs he writes, he can say whatever he pleases. It's one of the many things I admire about the man, he is always honest and speaks his mind in response to questions from journalists. Would you rather him say "The Beach Boys Are Amazing" just to appease the majority? If only all rock stars were as true to themselves as Noel is.

STFU, serious? I like his stuff, most if it. It is what it os with Spector but you can't hate on his work. IF this is true, out of all the rumors, this is the most exciting..so far.

the Beach Boys are great, and Brian Wilson is a complete lunatic. everytime i hear his late 70s music i'm shocked, not only at the state of his voice, but just from the music you can hear he is still compleeeetely insane. it's awesome. aaaanyway. back to noel. I'm pretty sure this is gonna be way psychedelic. That seems to be what he's into lately. And there was that weird X-files movie song he did a while back. I'm just curious how un-oasis this is gonna be.

I like the idea of Noel doing some really dark blues type songs, with a mix of psychedelia. Something like Setting Sun/Fade In-Out. He can really carve out a path as a distinctive solo artist if he takes this route.
