I don't know about anyone else, but every time I hear "You've been crawlin through a maze, an alcohol lemon haze" it makes me sing along. That's a great sign already, just a few weeks after it's release. From what we've heard so far, this is Beady Eye's mega tune, and I believe it will be one of those tunes that stands the test of time, even though it shares many resemblances to other songs.
It's a happy song, and it's one that I can honestly say I enjoy listening too along with any other Oasis songs. It's already a classic for me, and honestly don't know how anyone couldn't like it.
Here's to hoping that the rest of the album is as good!

its a really good song, and i agree about that particular lyric--its a good one.
but imo a classic, like live forever/ wonderwall is something that will be played on the radio 5+ years from now... its a good song and it has potential to be a classic, but it is still much too early to tell.
If any beady eye song would become a classic, that would be it.

If The Roller is their "mega" tune, then I'm scared for BDI. Not a classic in my mind. Just a pretty good song.
I dont know. I guess it comes down to "if you have to ask if its a classic, then it probably isnt a classic."
May sound a bit simplistic. But when I first heard Supersonic, I didnt have to ask if it was a classic, I kinda already knew on first listen. No one should have to tell you if something is classic, you should already kinda know.
edit: and I dont mean classic. as in stand the test of time. Know one can ever predict that. I mean classic, in terms of the quality of the song.

Based on what I've heard from people who have heard the album, The Beat Goes On may be the track with the best chance to reach "classic" status. My expectations are very high for that song..hopefully not too high.

I don't think it's their one "mega" tune, and I also hope its not. I think it will prove to be one of their better ones, for me at least, but I do think they will have bigger and better ones on the album.
It is a very happy song though. While I'm not going to call it a classic, if I like it down the road just as much as I do now, it will definitely be up there for me. I feel like I like it more than most people on here though.

every time I hear "You've been crawlin through a maze, an alcohol lemon haze" it makes me sing along. You sing along to this because Lennon wrote that part 48 years ago: "nothing you can do that can´t be done..."

If you think it's a classic then it's a classic. Other peoples opinion doesn't matter. I am loving it.

IMO songs only become classics after a few years - this is probably because it gives both fans and reviewers the chance to 'look back' at the song, then if it still sounds fresh and awesome, then it's proven.
I also find myself singing along to the song - always a good sign to a good song.
Love that same line also, but also "I've been watching you for days, You've been outta sight ... Alright ... Alright!"

I mean classic, in terms of the quality of the song. I see what you're saying. But I think there's a difference here. For example, Live Forever, Wonderwall, Supersonic, Champagne Supernova and Don't Look Back In Anger are absolute all time classics in history while songs like Gas Panic, Slide Away, Listen Up, Rockin' Chair, Half The World Away, Acquiesce are also classics but just in Oasis history. Know what I mean? Concerning Beady Eye, The Roller could be a classic. But just in their own history.

it's a modern day sing along, everyone i've had listen to it really liked it & none of them even knew anything about the band. you all call it the instant karma rip off i just call it the universal sound of awesomeness that Oasis made a career out of

I have to agree whole-heartedly. I think this song has the potential to really be a big song. I agree with the lyrics mentioned and once this is played live we'll know for sure. But... this could/ will be a massive singalong tune and in a few months we may be able to label this as "Classic".

All I'm going to say is it's a fantastic tune and when they play it live and Liam sings ''Just call me the rolleeeeeer'', every single fan will be singing it back.

It's a decent little happy song, with great vocals. But a 'classic'? Live Forever is a classic. The Roller isn't fit to suck Live Forever's cock.

In my opinion it could never be a classic because it completely lacks originality and the chorus melody is not strong enough. Good song however.

Even if it's not a classic (and I don't think it is), it's still a good song in my book.

What a strange thread. As I expected, there's a wide variety of answers given, and that's because there will never be agreement on what is a classic song and what is not. Or what is a good song and what is not. If it is for you, then it is. If it isn't, it isn't.
