Fucking fantastic, so far they've beaten the odds against them and they're back FUCKING FIGHTING! BRILLIANT! There's no way they could write a tune like this if they were only in it for the money. This is too brilliant. And, as far as I know, they worked together as full band once they ditched the stuff they did with Joe Chicarelli and went to Albert's studio to do it themselves. Man, I loved this song from the first listen. Julian's singing with a lot of passion on this one, isn't he? And, to be fair, I only expressed some doubt. I wasn't saying the album would be shit.

I like this song, but why they keep the same formula? 12:51 atleast was something different(yet the sound was the same) If they do another album ala Is this it I will be dissapointed

Are you guys really complaining about a band sounding the same on an Oasis forum? I'd say the change in sound from Under Cover of Darkness and their earlier stuff is significant enough. Not every band can (or should) be Primal Scream or Radiohead. Fucking fantastic, so far they've beaten the odds against them and they're back FUCKING FIGHTING! BRILLIANT! There's no way they could write a tune like this if they were only in it for the money. This is too brilliant. I know, sorry I didn't mean to come off as rude or anything. Just wanted to allay any fears, I know I was fearful that the album would be mediocre when I heard all of that money news along with all of the delays. Sounds like their hard work paid off!

^ Ah, yeah, it's all good, man.
As for them not changing, I thought First Impressions Of Earth was pretty different from the first two. And this new song wouldn't really fit on Is This It either. As stated before, they're not an ever-changing band, but they've definitely evolved enough.

looks like something from the 80S or something, reminds me of a dire straits cover

It does look disgustingly '80s, and while I'd rather both art and music were great, obviously the strong first single is more important than horrific artwork.

But I'm sure we all listened to them in that time. Relevance is overrated. You know what isn't? Quality, which is what the Strokes have always been. Get over it.

Both the strokes and oasis are in my top 5 of all time and julian's solo album is very good...oasis fans shouldn't talk about irrelevance, just my opinion.....

I like the new tune. I think the chorus isn't as good as the intro (Best part) and verses, but it seems like it will be an interesting album.
I quite liked First Impressions by the way. It did lag a little between Killing Lies, Fear of Sleep, and 15 Minutes, but generally it was a good album and had, as some have said, some of their best songs. This new track is good but definitely not near as good as the best tracks off the last album IMO.

I must admitt: Everything why I became an Oasis fan (basically: epic hymns; combined with rock'n roll music; performed with a passionate attitude; joined by a lot of "I don't give a fuck") wich was - for me - finalised with FTM... all of this is now (or basically since 2002+x) covered by 'The Strokes' - and eventhough I hate to say this, but 'Beady Eye' are not even close.
This single sounds like some other Strokes songs? I don't care! It makes me stand up, go to the club, have a drink, sing and have fun. Just like Oasis in those days.
MORE OF THIS!

Does Life is simple in the moonlight sounds like a bad recording or the version on Grooveshark is the performance of that song in SNL?

I think the album is shocking tbh, still only like Is This It from them . Much rather see Julian go solo now .

Can't wait to find myself a copy of this album. My only concern with Under cover of Darkness is I think Julian's vocals sound well strange on it does anyone else not think that or is it just me? The music is fantastic though vintage Strokes, but his vocals let it down for me.
I loved their first album one of my favourites still to this day the second one was great too, but they kinda lost their way on the third one. I've seen them live before and they put on one hell of a performance I'd love to see them again if they do a tour of the UK.
As someone else pointed out though you've gotta be a bit concerned how long they will last considering they struggled to be in the same room to record the album

The new album is much more in line with that then it is with Is This It. And thank fuck this sounds nothing like Is This It. This will be a divisive album, mostly because too many fans expect too much of the same.

It's not bad, but I think it sounds like they didn't want to make the album, a bit uninspired. My favourite tracks are Under cover of darkness, Machu Pichu, Taken for a fool and Life is simple in the moonlight.
