The problem with LG folks is, that though he can write good tunes his songs are severely underdeveloped and never fulfill their potential
Most of his tunes have brilliant verses (think Boy With The Blues) but the laziness of the majority of his choruses, the endless repetition, and the severe lack of middle eights mean we'll never get a complete song from r'kid.
Give me any Liam song, and it's obvious where its shortcomings lay.
Still, Beady Eye sound promising ;D (better than the crap that's out there currently!)
EDIT: NL4E , I know your heart skipped a beat when you saw this thread

This xD But yeah, if Liam just gave someone, other than Gem and Andy, who are obviously under his control, the base of a song, that someone could make a RnR classic out of it. The essence and soul are there.

''Fail''...only idiots say that ...not befitting of oasis fans Well yeah we seen Noel Gallagher as a songwriting "God" and understimate Liam, Gem and Andy(Im cool with this) but what do you not take in your post is that Noel had many time BEFORE he could write a song that was flawless. In the case of Liam I belive that his first chance was good for a man that had a track called "Acoustic" xD and we have seen developing his habilities as a songwriter from LJ to SB to GGTIA to I'm outta time and we'll see(in the future!!!) if he can do it by himself or with a little bit of help from his friends.

I'm going to admit that I laughed when I saw the title of this thread - mainly cos you inserted your name within it! Anyway, is it good to be back?

How full of self importance is the thread title?
Well, Wigwam is 7 min long and has 3 parts. I guess this could be one song that not follows that trend

Did I miss where he mentioned The Roller as being a Liam penned tune?
Everyone needs to chill out. He didn't say that Beady Eye sucks or anything. Cheers for speaking your mind.

"Guess God Thinks I'm Abel" is as complete as it gets. I'm with you on most of his others though.

"Guess God Thinks I'm Abel" is as complete as it gets. I'm with you on most of his others though. Guess God Thinks I'm Abel is bloody genius. Its not as simple as other songs from Liam, such as Songbird, but more layered and intriguing. All in all, has got a wonderful melody as do most of Liam's songs, and is really a joy to listen to. Underrated song in my opinion.

I'll address a point of two here from the replies.
Liam has loads of time to get his songwriting craft together...over 10 years...plus he was exposed to one of the greatest songwriters ever. Therefore Practice + Talent is needed.
Guess God Thinks I'm Abel...Genius? On paper it's good, but the ending is very disappointing...it could've soared.
NL4E, this is a flying visit I'm afraid

It doesn't really matter how good his songs might be, even if he wrote a couple of blinders for this album the tag under your avatar and the fact that you have basically become a troll in this section show that whatever he does will never be enough for you.

If Four Letter Word is entirely his own song then fair fucks. If he keeps churning out Ain't Got Nuthins and Meaning of Souls then I have every right to criticise his songs.

I don't think he wrote FLW? But anyway my point is is doesn't matter what he puts on their, you'll be in here chipping away about it. Probably while listening to it. You've just become a wind-up merchant. AGN is turd, I quite like the TMOS though.

Where are we all expecting these masterpieces to come out of? We've heard three original BE songs. BTL is a load of shite regardless of who wrote it. FLW is IMO a very good song. Not brilliant, not a classic but good. The Roller is average. It's rips far too heavily from IK. There's nothing wrong with riping off something just not this heavily and before you say it, no. I don not like Shakermaker.

I don not like Shakermaker. I´ve been thinking the same for quite a time now. The songs Noel provided to HC, DBTT and DOYS are really good. Unfortunately, Andys, Gems and Liams songs have been rubbish in general, except for the ones you mentioned. If you collected their songs from the last three Oasis-albums you would probably had one of the worst albums of the whole last decade. Do the same thing with Noels songs - and that would easily be top five of the last decade. Maybe two or three bad tunes out of ~ fiftheen. Having said that, FLW and TR are surprisingly good. But it is not a surprise that Liam wrote BTL - even though it's not as bad as everyone says, it's a typical Liam song with his usual repetition of melody.

I have to admit I sort of agree with some of the things here. On Oasis records, Liam, Gem and Andy's songs were merely fillers bar some classic Liam songs like I'm Outta Time and Born on a different cloud. Even the Saint-Songbird isn't that good. "Took me 10 minutes to write" and it shows.
Though I agree Noel became a bit lazy with the last records, the songs he got for DOYS were awesome bar High Horse.
With Beady Eye, the number of slow semi-acoustic "The Roller" type songs on the previews is more that disapointing. The Roller is plain boring. Bring The Light is Liam's "took me 10 minutes to write" quality. Four Letter Word is pretty good but nothing special. Although I have to admit they're all earworms.
Since the beginning of Beady Eye, it soared one thing: Noel's seal of approuval Liam complains about.
Plus, I know this isn't really important but, Noel wouldn't have allowed to have two single sleeves that are blatant copies of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones and one that looks like a fucking bad collage an 8 year old did on Paint.
I'm looking forward to Noel's solo record. No matter how much of a rip-off some of his songs were, he never sunk as low as Beady Eye.

Because a song didn't take long to write is not certain to reflect on its quality. Songbird is a beauty of a song and even if you don't like it I can't believe that you can't appreciate its quality.
I've seen your posts before, and the same as the oasistoonfan, it doesn't matter what they put out. You'll be there ready to sling some mud at it.
How have Beady Eye sunk low? This sort of thing escapes me.
