We did this with FLW. Now that we know that The Roller is the lead single, I think it's fair to compare it with SOTL, which was a lead single as well.
Right, we shouldn't be comparing BDI with Oasis but I'm curious about the results.
Cheers.

They don't compare in my humble opinion.

Way way too different. FLW actually had a somewhat similar vibe going on. I'm not voting on this one cos, as Happy has said, they simply don't compare.

as in comparison as first singles from albums, tsotl is much better. as in comparison as songs, tsotl is way better.

It's not apropriate to compare the two. They are far too different.
For me TSOTL was one of oasis' best rockers so it'd take some beating.

Everything is comparable. Of course they are different. Why would we compare identical things?

TSOTL is my favorite Oasis song from the last two albums, so it's a no contest for me.

Everything is comparable. Of course they are different. Why would we compare identical things? You need to compare like minded things, though. Would you really compare Mozart with Oasis, for example? Or Snoop Dogg with Coldplay? They're too far apart to be adjudicated against one another.

I went for TSOTL.
Good idea to hide the results until the poll is locked! We shoud do that more often for these kind of polls!

Instead of comparing, perhaps "Which do you prefer?" would be the better question. Even though they are different types of songs, people may like one vibe over the other, but for the conclusion then to be "X song is clearly better than Y song" in this case would be a wrong deduction, imo.

NL4E being a twat has nothing to do with being gay. That's an insult to gay people

you people take yourselves and all Oasis related sections on this forum way too fucking seriously. consciously deciding to not be gay isn't even possible. granted it wasn't really funny, but it wasn't serious either.

TSOTL is my favorite Oasis song from the last two albums, so it's a no contest for me. Mine too. TR is a nice song, but TSOTL is classic Oasis. BTW, some people here should calm down and stop insulting others. It's ridiculous.

Folk need to stop over analysing small matters like these! It's a simple question - which one is the better song?! And it's a simple answer! Shock of the Lightning by a country mile.
If some of you guys were running the country it would be a beuracratic nightmare.

Honestly everything I said in the TSOTL vs FLW thread was just random gibberish of a very happy fan. But what I am sure about is that TSOTL is produced in a fine way which makes it one of the top singles by Oasis. FLW could have been a better song but the production was obviously focused on being "raw". I think The Roller might be different. We still have to see...

TSOTL is one of the best singles Oasis ever put out IMO.It's just a pure adrenaline rush of non-stop (apart from before the drum solo, if we're being technical about it) rocknroll that just gushes formidable poetry.
FLW and TR are really good songs and I'm very happy with them...but to me TSOTL is really an Oasis classic.

The Roller, and I voted for The Shock Of The Lightning in the other poll. The Roller's more my type of song. I do like rockers, but give me a nice melody and some feeling any day.

I went with The Roller to be honest. Don't get me wrong, I love The Shock Of The Lightning as well, but it's Oasis by the numbers and a very standard choice first single like The Hindu Times and Lyla (All great songs though). I just wish Oasis would've released a first single like Go Let It Out was for the last few albums. In my opinion Bag It Up and The Turning would've been perfect as first singles from Dig Out Your Soul, but sadly didn't get picked as singles. I think The Roller is very different from The Shock Of The Lightning, as well as both Lyla and The Hindu Times, but at the same time being a very radio friendly nice pop song as well. I'm very very much looking forward to hear what Noel will release as a first single. Very exciting times ahead

I still can't possibly make up my mind. TSOTL is Oasis by numbers, but it's almost up there with SMS - almost, but not quite, although it has a similar vibe. I love TSOTL, one of the best most recent Oasis by numbers rocker.
But The Roller is more different to anything Oasis released. It sound like it could have been on an Oasis album easily, and sure, it's a rip off of IK but it's still very very good. Best BDI song by far....so far.
I remain stubborn and refuse to vote.
