I believe these two songs are very comparable tho 4 Letter Word isn't a single.

It's a fair comparison. Similar kind of vibe.
It was hard. I'm feeling the euphoria of a new song, and I really do love FLW. But I went with TSOTL. FLW has more meaningful lyrics, while TSOTL is a more 'Supersonic' song with nonsensical lines. However, TSOTL just edges it for me. Probably should have voted for a tie, oh well.

Four Letter Word has more balls than SOTL can ever dream of.

TSOTL easily. Both are great songs but TSOTL has the superb drum solo.

Shock of the Lightning easily. I thought it would breeze this poll.

in my opinion four letter word is alot better. sounds like a new band defining their sound whereas TSOTL was just more of the same, only a little worse

I think you're right - FLW has so much more energy. But there's just something about Liam Gallagher singing a Noel Gallagher song that will forever do it for me. So it's tough! Fuck it. FLW.

Looks like Four Letter Word is edging out Shock of the Lightning.....I think it's a good sign that a non-official single off of DGSS edged out an opening single on an oasis album.... I'm thinking we are going to have a album atleast on par with SOTSOG....

Four letter word lyrically and melodically pisses all over shock from a great height

It sounds like FTL does naturally what TSOTL tried too hard to do.

TSOTL for me.
I doubt this is the same result as there will be in 2 years. I think the euphoria of the release is skewing the vote personally.
I may be wrong though.
I think that TSOTL is a great song.
Maybe FLW really is superior...definitely above average...but not great for me

like most have said, it's really hard to tell. Right now everyone is on a high about this song because, well, it's just been released hours ago so..
Personally i think they're very much comparable, they're both pretty upbeat and kinda get your senses going a bit, however i must point out that lyrically FLW is miles ahead of TSOTL, the song is actually saying something. I still think Liam's voice sounds better on TSOTL . It's really to early to make fair a decision. Let's not forget that this isn't even supposed to be a single, whereas TSOTL was the obvious choice lo be the leadoff for DOYS.

I doubt this is the same result as there will be in 2 years. I think the euphoria of the release is skewing the vote personally. We already had the riff, the first verse of the song as well as the chorus (except the last line) a long time before we had the whole song. There were no real surprises except the solo imao. FLW for me. It's a very strong song with good lyrics and structure. Sounds fresh yet natural, with class. If all the album tracks are of this quality, I think Liam might be true to some point about it being comparable to DM. I usually loved TSOTL but the feeling died away after listening to this song. Exciting but bland, the melody sounds a bit familiar and it would have been nothing without the drum solo. TSOTL's music video pisses all over on FLW's however.

TSOTL is better as it has less flaws and better lyrics

TSOTL is just a more catchy and melodic song. FLW seems to have more meaning lyrically but some lyrics such as "the more you have the more you can lose" are cringeworthy imo. TSOTL has meaningless lyrics and they fit the song perfectly (one of Oasis's best first singles of the last decade).

I wonder why you people are comparing those two songs.
I would understand if you compared Four Letter Word and Bag it up. They are both openers and both are not singles.

I've never liked TSOTL, and you can call me crazy all you want, but it sure as hell isn't catchy. And the drum solo is pretty overrated. I like it (the solo) in that it isn't something you would normally hear from Oasis, but it definitely isn't anything spectacular. FLW's already grown on me quite a bit. If it weren't for that horrible Liam delivery of "forever," the song would be great. I don't know why he keeps insisting on ending lines in that way, I can't think of any song where it's been pulled off well.
So yeah, Four Letter Word.

love them both but got to go with SOTL for the sheer pace of the song, and the drum solo.

Four Letter Word. In fact I'd put it above Lyla and The Hindu Times as well.

Four Letter Word. The Shock of The Lightning starts off well but goes nowhere.

This is as fair a comparison as you can get. Both songs are rockers with a slight hint of psychedelia that really have no big chorus. I went with The Shock Of The Lightning by a hair just because it's stood the test of time and that remains to be seen with Four Letter Word.
