Not sure what people are on about with the lack of hooks thing. The 'It's about time that your mind took a holiday' bit and the 'Ahhh you've had enough of staring out of dead end eyes' both sound like hooks to me. Good ones, too. i think he's looking for Some Might Say stuff. This is subtle hooks that sink in. Like rock n roll star. even morning glory doesn't have a monumental hook. She's Electric is probably more immediate than morning glory.

I'll tell you what, though, there are some catchy lines in there. The lads are back, and I'm loving it.

I'll go away after this post, I promise, haha.....that solo really reminds me of a RNRS vibe. It's such ashame Oasis got away from this sound, and especially the solos!

I'm so happy that this tune is a good one. BTL was mediocre at best for me. Not bad but I was expecting a little more. This tune is great. Love the effects on the guitar. Nice little melody to go with it and Liam snarling a bit. A good way to open the album as well

Superb stuff. Very catchy solo, strong riff permeating throughout and vicious vocals by Liam.

It's got the sound that just has to start off an album, thought that bag it up had that feel too, i must say that i really can't wait to hear this album, personally I like the sound of all of the tracks & what strikes me is musically they've broken out of a shackle, you can tell they have much more freedom now & musically thats great news for us

I'm thinking that these lyrics belong to Andy and the main instrumentals were constructed by Gem. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

It's Liam all over for me, especially lyrically, couldn't imagine the others writing lyrics like this, especially as it's definitely about Noel, without a doubt

Nah this sounds like a collaborative effort to me, a completely new song that they all worked on together from the start, i mean i cant imagine Liam having much to do with the music but the lyrics are almost certainly his

It's just so obvious it's about Noel!
Liam was never gonna shy away from the whole Oasis situation & I doubt that this is the only song on this album that feature lyrics targeted at Noel
Noel will do the same on his solo record but more cleverer & smarter

I think most the songs on the album are going to be "Gallagher/Archer/Bell"

Bring the Light had me really worried, but this song has restored my faith.
It really hearkens back to Bring It On Down and Headshrinker--rockers that pack a punch, but don't sacrifice being a good tune simply for being a rocker like Meaning of Soul or Ain't Got Nothing.

For some reason, the "Call it whatever you please" verse is really doing it for me Loving the tune, you can really feel them doing what they really want on the guitar solos. Roll on february

Townsend Records are really realiable. I have used the before. Ocean Colour Scene have used them for ages for new releases. Please please tell me they package records securely? The BTL was horribly squeezed into an unpadded envelope! 2 of mine arrived damaged!!

I can't imagine Noel writing a song targeted @ Liam at all. I think back to Talk Tonight or Half the World Away. I think his songs will be more that vein. His songs all seem to be about him @ the end of the day if they are about anything. I think we'll get more of a picture of what Noel went through rather than his opinion of Liam.

Absolutely horrible. It's just 4 minutes of noise. Were your other 486 post as good as this or would I need a few cans of red bull to keep me awake while I check?

I think Noel is more mature than Liam - but as far as their relations go, it takes two to fight, so who knows on that front? But Noel, musically and professionally, at least, is more mature. Noel may use the negative breakup as an inspiration of some sort - who knows - but I very much doubt there will be a song dedicated thematically to Liam. Noel is above that.

I'm not even sure Noel will even touch on themes of the last 2 years, but if he does I think you nailed it right on the head. Noel uses experiences for his inspiration. He doesn't really write about his experiences. That's the difference.

Between FLW & the leaked teaser clips I'm well impressed & excited for Beady Eye!! Think Liam wrote the lyrics, Think it's about Noel, Liam did say in a few interviews a bit back that some newer songs were coming out & being written in studio & that he needed to get the needle in and write a song like "How Do You Sleep?"

It does remind me of Hung In A Bad Place in a way. The vocal melody therefore looks like a typical Gem melody. Try to sing the chorus of HUABP right after 'look away and it's gone'. Am i the only one hearing this?
Another critical point: the transition from the massive into into the first verse sounds forced. As if they had the intro tune and some verse lines and they decided to find a way to blend them together.
So, mixed feelings. Plus point are the vicious lyrics and vocals from Liam, the guitar noise and the brilliant repeating (intro) tune.
