Excellent. Quality AND quantity. Who would've thought that this time last year?

Google gives nothing for the title, so I guess it isn't a cover...
I'm confused. This isn't a single, is it? Is it another "special release" like BTL? So this won't really chart?
Never expected to hear 2 songs from BDI without even having a real single yet; a bit strange...

very strange if they are releasing another single in the same way as with BTL
Maybe they are mainly bothered about the album?

mmmm very strange if they are releasing another single in the same way as with BTL Maybe they are mainly bothered about the album? They don't really seem to be treating them like a proper single though, only released as limited 7" vinyls and not cd's or digital bundles with the b-side. I personally consider a single to have a public release date, eligible for the charts and available in all formats ie CD, vinyl and digital. It's good they are releasing so many songs though, get themselves more attention.

The Roller is gonna be the first proper single, which is odd since it's more of a ballad than a rocking tune.

but then you could argue The Roller is more "single" material compared to BTL and FLW

I think its a good idea to have two promo releases and get Beady Eye into the world, we may have heard 7 BE songs by the end of Jan.
I like the 7" vinyls too because they become good collectors items with that retro vibe, have to admit they should offer an mp3 download too otherwise we'll need someone to burn the b-side to mp3 like with SOTS.
Can't wait to hear the track though, my guess is we'll have 20/21 songs all together with bonus tracks and b-sides after all the singles are released. That's a great amount to stick our teeth into.

Good news. Weird though, this is nearly the same thing they did with Bring The Light. I guess if we're lucky someone can put up the b-side on Youtube before New Year's Eve?
It's funny how everybody was dying for any kind of news two months ago...now we had a vinyl single/free download, a b-side, an album release date, 30 seconds clips of all the songs and another full song with vid soon.

Liam said that he wanted to release at least 3 songs before the album came out because he wanted fans to get familiar with some material for the early live shows and he said he wanted to be like early oasis with proper b-sides, so this is actually what's happening. Plus in my opinion I think BTL and FLW are pretty much loud rocker type tunes so the 1st official single makes sense to be "the roller" because it sounds more radio friendly. Anyone agree?

Think maybe you've got the point there. Although I wouldn't mind if Four Letter Word was the official first single from Different Gear, Still Speeding at all. Actually, I really hated the fact that Bag It Up or The Turning wasn't the first single from Dig Out Your Soul to be honest. Shock Of The Lightning was a great tune, but it was just Oasis by the numbers (Nothing wrong with that though), and very similar to the two other previous first singles (The Hindu Times, and Lyla). I want a first single with "balls" if you know what I mean? Still, The Roller does sound like a fantastic radio friendly song. We'll see I guess.

i disagree. The Roller i guess you could say is the "safer" track to release as a single but i think 4LW should've been the 1st "proper single". It's more upbeat and THAT kind of tune could be a radio hit, and i'm talking mainstream here. anyways... who knows, it might be a good move on their part. we still haven't heard either song in its entirety, though we do have a good idea of what 4LW will be like(for the most part) after hearing almost a whole minute of it.

I'm thinking with the release of FLW, the band would be giving us a second "hard" tune. "The roller" to me sounds more catchy and more of a sing a long type tune. Let's not forget that it seems to apply to "pot smokers" judging by the lyrics. This could be a huge hit.
