Liam being Liam! I've really enjoyed BDI so far, but better than THE album of all time... I'd eat my Pretty Green parka.

Yeah, always great to see him so confident, but can't really see Different Gear, Still Speeding toping Definitely Maybe.

i do agree with Liam though that Beady Eye has better musicians for their debut album, than Oasis did for their debut album, but if the song writing isn't there (which it wont be, even Gem and Andy arent better songwriters than Noel) theres no way the songs will top definitely maybe no matter how good the musicians are.

Well at least Liam will sing every song on the album, just like DM.

Strange he is comparing BDI work with Oasis... I thought the past didn't matter or whatever

Well at least Liam will sing every song on the album, just like DM. I think you should clarify. Your post should read "At least Liam will sing LEAD VOCALS on every song", because, as we all know, Noel contributed to various songs throughout the album - Slide Away, for example. Please be more precise in your posts in the future, dear boy.

It wouldn't be a Gallagher release without the usual "better than fookin Definitely Maybe" bravado! Glad we still have some lingering hallmarks of the Oasis years!

Strange he is comparing BDI work with Oasis... I thought the past didn't matter or whatever It was possibly more to do with the question he was being asked tbf. Something to do with debut's like 'how does it stand up to DM?'

Something to do with debut's like 'how does it stand up to DM?' The Gallaghers have yet to master the use of "no comment" If they would just say "no comment" the media wouldn't be able to beef up a story around the one quote. But I think it runs contrary to, particularly, Liam's nature. The musicians definitely are better than Oasis circa DM. Songwriter and singer are still up in the air for me...and those are 2 very important aspects...probably the most important. I wonder what Noel will be saying when it comes to be his turn though. On one hand he is capable of bravado equal to Liam. On the other hand he has put DM up on this untouchable pedestal. My guess? He isn't gonna say it's better than DM, only that it's the best debut SINCE DM. LOL

Other than I guess the impact it had on British culture, Definitely Maybe isn't THAT amazing. It has amazing songs, but it also has Digsy's Dinner and two songs that drag onnnnnn (Shakermaker and Columbia) Live Forever and Slide Away are untouchable, but the thing has huge holes in it.
Not saying BDI's debut will be better than it, but if they can make a more consistent album (like Don't Believe The Truth) then I'll be very happy.

Just thought I'd point out that Liam has a option other than to come out with these slightly daft statement. He probably never will though. That's fine with me.

^ Isn't the point that if the Gallaghers didn't constantly take the bait from journalists they wouldn't be offered such obvious bait in the first place?

I'd prefer anything from DM to anything from that album. That was a serious question BTW.

^ Since you said it was serious, I don't do any drugs and I don't drink. Drop the tough guy act if you want to actually have a discussion about the music.

^ Since you said it was serious, I don't do any drugs and I don't drink. Drop the tough guy act if you want to actually have a discussion about the music. What tough guy act? How in gods earth can anybody mention DM and DBTT in the same sentence and go on to add that DBTT is better? Jesus wept.

Read it again. I didn't say better. I said more consistent. Definitely Maybe has much higher highs than DBTT, but DBTT is a smoother listen. I'll stand by that. Live Forever and Slide Away are miles better than anything on DBTT. You could throw Supersonic in as well. But Columbia and Shakermaker do drag on for me.
There's no need to jump down someone's throat for an opinion. Maybe "tough guy act" was the wrong phrase to use, but the smack thing, the "Jesus weeping", dramatic nonsense like "How in gods earth" is just unnecessary.

Maybe the Jesus/God thing was silly as I don't believe in either.
As for the rest, I'll give you Shakermaker but Columbia is probably better than anything on DBTT which to me just drags and doesn't have a single song that excites me enough to think "I'll listen to that album, some good tunes on that".
