I will admit - on my first listen I was thinking wtf happened?!?!?!
However, like most music, you never get it on the first listen. I listened to it 4 times and shut it off - I didn't think BTL was bad, it just was not what I was expecting and I think many on here feel the same way.
I guess in my mind I was expecting heavy guitars, drums, rock n roll anthems like we have become accustomed to with Oasis. The 22 second teaser didnt help manage expectations and maybe this was done on purpose to get some shock value.
I will say this, later in the day I had the song stuck in my head and when I got home I put it on again and actually liked it a lot. I think it grows on you once you let go of your expectations and just listen. It sounds like they were having some fun making this song and it comes through in the vibe - I like that.
I think after a couple of listens it is far too early to judge and I sometimes wonder if album reviews are written based on 1 listen because of lot of great albums get trashed for no reason by people who seem to miss the point. BDI is going to be something different and something fun, these guys know how to make good music and I am in for whatever ride they want to take us on.

How can it grow? it doesn't do anything, it doesn't go anywhere, there's nothing complex about it and there's nothing exciting going on in the production. It's a simple, in-your-face pop song, you either like it or you don't.

BTL just strikes me as a very approachable pop song, I can't see how it grows or how it takes several listens to 'get'.

Nobody said it was a complicated song, its just not what many were expecting and on the first few listens the expectations got in the way. I don't see what is so hard to understand about that. There is lots of music that I dont necessarily like the first time I hear it but over time I begin to appreciate it and like what the artist was going for. It does not mean I didnt understand what the point was.

The "growing" is actually people getting it into their heads that the fantasy they'd created in their heads for Beady Eye was something altogether different!

I have had it on my flash drive playing on random over the past couple days. Whenever it comes on, it flows smoothly with everything else. I dig it!

Exactly - I was definitely expecting something different and I think there will be songs like I was expecting but this is something unique. I actually think its pretty cool - its got a good vibe and its happy.

i couldn't agree more with this thread, on my first listen i thought wtf? is this a joke? but next morning i listened to it like 4 times on the way to college and it woke me up and put me in a good mood for the day. Throughout the day the blues sort of tune was stuck in my head along with liam singing baby come on. Now i think its a great song just give it a chance lads and stop acting like you listen to the wombats

Very true. I listened to it about 7 times in a row just to see whether it would get better, and it did.

You listen to almost anything over 7 times in a row, it gets stuck in your head or grows on you. That's with most music that is some what decent. Thats especially the case when you want to wish and hope that its good or great. Or when everytime you listen you're trying to find more ways to love it. If you do that with most decent music it grows on you. It really has nothing to do with how good or bad the track is. It just means you listened to it a shit load of times.

I wrote it off as absolutely shit on my first listen but the next morning when i was still half asleep i put it on again, totally changed my view on it. That was my second listen so i didnt listen to it a shitload of times? its a wierd one people say it gets better and better when others say shitter and shitter. I understand what you mean though over the past few weeks that rihanna song has been like shit in a field and its like you hear it that many times you almost have to like it

once you get the initial shock of what you were expecting, (i dont think anyone expected that tbh) its not a bad track, but as some people who have heard the Beady AYE alboom have said its heavier, its hard to see where this might fit with the rest of the choons on the lp

When you with excuses to like a song the song is in trouble.
I been here for releases since Go Let It Out and this is without any doubt the first time the fans have been very dissapointed. When you here a new song from the Oasispeople you want it so badly to sound good so if it sounds average you think it is great.
In this case it is so bad that people think it is average or bad. O man. This song really is awful!

with respect, when i first heard the shock of the lightning, it blows me away. this made my day or my week. now i think it's a average tune. but it's only the feeling you get when you first hear something new from the boys, this is truly amazing. when i heard bring the light yesterday, i really had to laugh, because it was so ludicrous at the moment. it's sad that i didn't get this amazing feeling again.
i hope it returns when the album comes out and i finally had a listen. if its not, i just have to wait till noel comes around with his album. I do not think that he will disappoint me

I don't think it is an amazing song or even a great song, but it certainly isnt awful and it is catchy. Do I expect a lot more out of this band? Definitely. Did I expect something different on my first listen? For sure. But, it is not the end of the world and it id decent.
We will see what else comes from them, I respect the track though and I like it.
There are plenty of other tunes I have heard hundreds of times and still loathed every second of them - so it is not a matter of programming my brain to like it.
To the above post about the special feeling of an Oasis single - I agree, it didnt have that same magic but that doesnt mean its not good - its just not Oasis and it isnt supposed to be.
That 22 second clip has me pretty excited though, that is more along the lines of what I was hoping for - some serious guitars and with some luck some outstanding vocals from LG.

I love how it sounds. It's growing on me with every listen, too. How some people think this is so bad is beyond me. It's average at worst, and a solid effort at best imo.

I'd rather this song be on DOYS over the shit that was TNOR, the dullness of SO, and the MOS Part 2 that was AGN. In fact, it seems like it would be good to be placed right before TBWTL. Yeah, it's not an Oasis track, but if it were....
It has some Oasis hallmarks in it, yet different at the same time. I really do like the vibe. It's growing on me.

I'll have to agree with you there. I'm a fan of the song myself, and I get it if it isn't some people's cup of tea or whatever, but there are some people here who REALLY hate it. Saying it's worse than Little James or some of Oasis' worst is just ludicrous.
