either way, if it's true, i find it very odd that he would play in milwaukee, and not in new york or los angeles. no one is saying he is not playing new york or la! i know for a fact he is playing in boston as well.

Do you also know that Santa is real and that pigs can fly? i know you aren't the sharpest tool in the shed but do you think clear channel wants to be sued for libel by noel management? i can answer that and the answer is no. venue websites do not host information on shows unless they are happening.

I have it on good authority from Mitt Romney that Noel will be playing in Massachusetts in the near future. He's going to be playing at Mitt's coming out party.

what law school do you attend, gimmick u? to libel someone all you need to do is misrepresent the party and the venue does that by saying noel is going to play not only in milwaukee but within the pabst theater. you know so little.

If you were the sharpest tool in the shed, you'd understand libel and the fact that nothing here qualifies as libel. Perhaps compared to the UK, but they still wouldn't be posting it if it were untrue. There will absolutely be legal fallout if it isn't. Posting that type of information without some sort of concrete basis for it would just be foolish on the part of the Pabst Theater. Think about this for a second. What would be the logic here if there hadn't been communication between Noel's people and the theater? Do you think that an employee at the theater woke up one day and said "Today, sitting here in Milwaukee, although I have absolutely no reason for doing so, I shall make an image in photoshop, devote a section of the website entirely to Noel Gallagher, an e-mail address "noelgallagher@pabsttheater.org" and send out an e-mail blast suggesting that he will play his first solo U.S. gig here in the near future!" Now to go a step further with the logic, since presumably people have been e-mailing the theater about it and they still haven't pulled it down...If it was indeed fake, don't you think that the bosses at this state historic landmark would have heard about this and had pulled it down by now with a retraction story and explanation? People get fired over far lesser infractions in this industry.

Fuck yeah, dude! Even if it's not true, reading this makes me excited. I remember Liam saying that they have a contractual obligation to promote the singles album which apparently is coming out in the U.S. It wouldnt be out of the realm of possibilty for Noel to do these gigs as promotion... even if most of the songs arent on the album but then again most werent on stop the clocks when he was promoting that either...

Not entirely. For there to be libel it has to have a negative aspect and has to be proven to be intentional. The latter is always hard to prove. False advertising here is not libel. --- From my Media and Politics class that I took: Libel o Defamatory statement o Prior: If a statement was defamatory it was presumed false, didn’t matter if it was a mistake, didn’t matter if it there was any harm Burden on the press oNew York Times v. Sullivan, 1964 --- Civil rights leaders put ad on NY Times, protesting arrestment of MLK ----Sullivan filed suit, arguing that the ad made accusations against him and the police that were fault -----Supreme Court rules in favor of NY Times • Establishes a new and different style/approach to libel o Burden of proof now on the individual, not the press o Have to prove that the media had knowledge of what they were reporting was false o Or, had to reprove that they maliciously chose not to figure out if it was true or false o Statements of facts only applicable, opinions are OK

well there are two problems to the points you raised. one, the case you bring up does not relate to what is posted on the website. secondly, if the legal ruling hypothetically did relate to noel vs milwaukee then according to this "Have to prove that the media had knowledge of what they were reporting was false." then the show is happening at least in the venues eyes.
now i gotta ask you do you believe the venue is intentionally lying in an effort to fool oasis fans?

if he was to go out on a limb which he won't because he doesn't want to hurt the credibility of the website. he would say the gig is more likely to happen rather then it not happening.

This tread conjures up those amazing and priceless memories from summer 2008 leading up to the album release. And the endless........endless crap threads.
"Good evening Topeka" ...very likely of course.

Ha, and I thought dunderheads from Chicago were the only ones who consider Milwaukee the world's largest suburb.
The Milwaukee metro-area is near 1 1/2 million people, fuck-tards. It's the 21st largest city in the country. Whether he plays a theater that seats 2-3 thousand here (Milwaukee), or Chicago, it matters not in the grand scheme of things.
If some knew about what goes into scheduling even a few dates, you'd realize that you are constantly battling venue's availability and/or the timeliness of said availability in relation to your other tour dates locale...this is an especially prevalent issue in the summer months with a country as physically massive as the US. Considering these points, it's completely reasonable that Milwaukee would be selected for a date.
And, this wouldn't be the first time Milwaukee was chosen "over" Chicago either. They played the Riverside in Milwaukee and skipped over Chicago on the second leg of the DBTT, as I recall- they could have easily played another show there.
I'm sticking with my TWO sources until I learn definitively otherwise.
