If a two line answer to a question was enough to 'get a room' with someone do you think I'd be sat posting on here? No, I'd be walking down Bedford High Street getting hot girls to ask me a question. Ya.

We're all missing the main point... The smiths made the best album of the last thirty years. Best four albums.
Liam didn't do anything wrong, but it wouldn't have hurt to mention Noel.

I'm just gonna put it out there, but if Noel was the one accepting the award tonight, I wouldn't have been surprised if he made some smart ass remark about Liam.
Yes, I can't prove this, but it's still an opinion to consider

Just came back from the awards... that was a good shock to see Liam on stage. The last thing I was expecting ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/1258801/images/7QKGdm487eYnX65W8w0g.gif) but he done it in his own way and that was f***ing awesome. Liam will be Liam and there's nothing else that should be expected. Luved panicing organisers desperately looking for the mic that Liam threw to the crowd.

This award is simply the confirmation of something those who bought it when it came out already knew at that time, so I have to thank Noel for writing the best british album of the last 30 years. Good job on the vocals Liam, shame you couldn't do anything else past 1997. Oh yes! the attitude, the parkas, the rock'n'roll and all that.

I know it was done by album sales, but less be honest - DM is way more deserving of the award, and the competition faced tonight was embarrassing (bar The Verve)
But an award is an award, so fuck it

I think he said "the best fucking band," then he threw the award in the crowd, didn't really understand why he would do that. But that's Liam Gallagher I guess.

Liam blew an opportunity to help promote oasis to a wider audience? NOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo I odn't believe it. Everyone who is aware of The Brits is aware of Oasis. And for you naysayers, look at the Brits 07 - other than the band performing, the 'speech' was just as low key. It would have been nice for Liam to acknowledge Noel, but who really expected him to do so? Additionally, if Noel wanted acknowledgment, he would have shown up. Liam represented Oasis tonight while Noel continued his sad of the spat. Both need to grow up, but to blame Liam tonight is just ridiculous. Regardless, he looks so much cooler again after looking silly during most of the previous tour.

Liam should've thanked Noel and for people saying that Noel should've came, if Noel had come do you think Liam would've? I dont see the point in Noel showing up.

I don't think Noel would have ever shown up. He was the one who left Oasis, remember. And ideally, they should both show up - we all know Oasis is Liam AND Noel. Do you really think Noel thought 'hmmm Liam is showing up on my behalf, so I won't bother." Or do you think he thought "Fuck, R Kid is gonna be there? Fuck that. I won't be seen in the same room as that tosser again" I believe the latter is the more likely.

Lets not make this a DM and MG debate.
I would have like to seen all the members of the past to come up and celebrate the award. I know thats cheesy and would never in a million years would happen plus it seems like its something a band so much older would do but whatever.
We all should have known that Liam wasn't gonna say anything about Noel and that Noel wasn't going to show up. Yes it would have been right for Liam to say thank you to Noel because Noel drove the band and wrote that album and produced it. Sure he left Oasis but this was one of his crowning glories in Oasis and he was the main contributor towards it no disrespect to the other members.

Yeah, but then the self-righteous on here would be claiming that Liam was even more out of line ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) Part of loving Oasis is loving what they stand for, loving the fact that they aren't fake and are who they are. That's why I can't understand the bashing Liam got in this thread. If Liam made an inspiring 5 minute speech, it would go against what Oasis stands for. It would be fake.

No one's asking for a heartfelt 5 minute speech. What people were asking for was for him to thank Noel and to actually act like 1. that he wanted the award and 2. that he actually gave a fuck. You can blame Noel all you want for not coming, but in the end Noel wasnt the one who asked Oasis fans to vote his album #1, Liam did that. Noel didnt have to show up considering he was left holding the bag for Liam for the past decade plus when he didnt show up. Liam owed him one anyways.

I think people saying that Liam doesn't give a shit about what people think is bullshit. I don't think he would have been going on all about it all this time if not. Could be the journalism talking, but still. He went up there and made a point. People have been saying this and that since the split, crap about his clothing line, crap about keeping the Oasis brand, and everything else floating around. People no longer care about him and it's all about Noel's solo album, Noel's bromance with Russell Brand, Noel's holiday with his girlfriend and son, Noel's new advertising sponsorship, Noel's first concert since the split. But he wasn't there to fucking go and get the award himself, cause he doesn't give a shit anymore. Probably is wondering why people still like Noel when HE was the one who gave up on everyone, yet everyone thinks he's the one who's shit. Not saying that he has nothing to do with the split, but the media and a lot of people make it seem like it's EVERYTHING to do with him. I think he just wanted to go home before all the paps/journos went after him and made him feel more shitty, even if he did take it, they'd still ask all the same fucking questions that he's tired of already. Noel left, he didn't because he still cares and that'll all that can really be said. Anything else, and it just becomes "he did this" and "he did that".

Noel didnt have to show up considering he was left holding the bag for Liam for the past decade plus when he didnt show up. Liam owed him one anyways. Why would he want that award? The competition was incredibly embarrassing. The Smiths? The Stone Roses? Amongst other great British bands of the last 30 years were left off b/c of fucking album sales. Hell, it's even debatable if WTSMG is even Oasis' best album! The Brits are a joke, and Oasis have known that for well over a decade. But, as I said, an award is an award, so why not take it but at the same time let's put it into context. I agree, I would have liked Liam to have thanked Noel. I think it would be the right thing to do. But I'm not going to criticize Liam for not do so, either. I don't know how I feel about Noel atm, to be honest. I truly respect him. He's a genius and is no doubt the brains and promotional heart (until recently) of Oasis, and he's also hilarious. But then, he did walk out on Oasis, on his fans, in a truly childish and petulant fashion. He has refused to speak of Oasis and to his fans since then, which is poor. And let's not forget: It takes two to fight. I'm trying to be impartial and not bash either one unfairly. However, a lot of people in this thread have already picked sides. That, imo, is poor.

The people who say awards shows are shit are the ones who 1) never get nominated, 2) who get nominated but don't win, 3) and think everyone who is nominated and present the awards are worthless vaginas. Then, when they win, they either think they don't deserve it, or boast all about how they're the best thing on the earth.

Yes, Liam should have mentioned Noel. Yes, Liam didn't have to throw the mic in the audience, and blah, blah, blah. But honestly, that was hilarious! That's 100% Liam. No strings attached.
