Yeah, but then the self-righteous on here would be claiming that Liam was even more out of line ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) Part of loving Oasis is loving what they stand for, loving the fact that they aren't fake and are who they are. That's why I can't understand the bashing Liam got in this thread. If Liam made an inspiring 5 minute speech, it would go against what Oasis stands for. It would be fake. Good post!! was going to say that for the ppl complaining about it should just watch the 96 brits...

I've got to say that as a die-hard Oasis fan the whole thing was a bit of an embarrassment.
The affected swagger just looked like a crap impersonation and Liam seemed to be channelling Ian Brown.
Thought it was a nice touch giving the award to the crowd, although it would have been better if he'd have said it was going to be given away to a proper fan in a competition rather than just some screaming Lily Allen fan who happened to be at the front.
The lobbing of the microphone was cringeworthy and not mentioning Noel made him look immature.
Interesting that he thanked Alan White, Bonehead and Guigs - does Liam himself realise this was the best Oasis line-up?

Did make me laugh but was hoping more of Liam really. Throwing the award away will probably get them blacklisted in the future by the Brits. But the Brits are a joke again, turning into the Smash Hits awards party. Dizzee Rascal, JLS (Dont even write their own stuff or play instruments), Lady Gaga, Robbie Williams, christ almighty.
I'm not normally a crazy fanboy but was p!ssed off when Peter Kay said about what a knobhead. Doesnt say a word about Lady Gaga looking as she does, JLS being tossers or any stuff like that.
Glad Oasis won that award though, would have been criminal if some crap like Duffy won it. Shame there werent some more older albums if it was 'best album last 30 years' though
Surprised if wasnt dressed head to toe in Pretty Green stuff though ! Did hope he would have said something good/nice about Noel, would have started the rumours about a reunion !
Agree with the post above, if Liam came out with a great long speech thanking everyone then all the 'outbursts' in the past would have seemed fake and for the camera. At least he did 'keep it real'!

Thought Liam was brilliant myself.
I've seen plenty calling him a dickhead and that but for what? Realising the Brits is a sham and his band commands far more importance than that?
I've seen some on facebook and that, that seem to take a 'no one can be holyier than the Brit awards - therefore he is the antichrist' kind of attitude. Yet these same people probably joined the get RATM to Christmas No.1 campaign. Where as the Brits establishment is no lesser an evil than some of the crap Simon Cowell produces.
As for no long winded speech, I don't think there was much need. They deserve to win that award by a country mile and it should come as a suprise to no one that their album is better than Keane and Phil Collins, let alone Liam. Him giving the award away, in my eyes was his way of representing what it meant to him 'fuck all'. As he said in that strange ITV2 interview after, he said he'd turn up and play the game. Noel didn't bother which is fair enough and all. Not thanking Noel might've been a bit childish, but then again it's standard Liam behaviour and not a major shock.
"Interesting that he thanked Alan White, Bonehead and Guigs - does Liam himself realise this was the best Oasis line-up?"
Think that dedication was probably more geared towards that they played on the album.

Source: BBC news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/8519276.stmBEST OLD FASHIONED ROCK 'N' ROLL MOMENT"Ex-Oasis singer Liam Gallagher swaggered on to accept the prize for the best Brit-winning album of the last 30 years, a special award created to celebrate the ceremony's anniversary. He pointedly thanked all of his former bandmates except brother Noel, who was conspicuous by his absence. No reconciliation on the cards there. Liam took the Britannia statuette and threw it, along with his microphone, into the front row. The producers managed to get the mic back but the award is probably on eBay already. Many thought he was petulant, spiteful, arrogant... including host Peter Kay, who called him a name that probably should not have been broadcast on ITV1 before the watershed. But he also reminded us that Britain has not produced a rock star so cocky, compelling and untameable since his Britpop heyday. Kasabian, the heirs apparent, performed straight after his cameo but appeared timid by comparison. If only Damon Albarn had been there to offer a fight, it would have been just like the old days. " I fully agree with this article!!!

I just want to add my two pence worth
To me, this is THE best way to end Oasis. Look at it like this, back when Oasis were big in the mid 90's it was the Brit awards in 96 when the entire band were in the same style. So Liam saying thank you like this is the perfect cap to end it!

looking back, it was a great moment, like the bbc article says.
I still would have prefered a reference to Noel ...... they need to get over each other
but the ITV2 bit was hilarious

So Liam saying thank you like this is the perfect cap to end it! another poster who knows what they are talking about... All the ppl who are complaining have to do is watch the 96 speech that was posted earlier on this thread and see that oasis (including liam) have always been like that.. if u wanted more, go and join a U2 forum... im not having a go @ U2 one bit, im just saying that they are the kind of band to do what you are expecting.. Its strange 'cause i thought there were a lot of Oasis fans on here that have been fans since the 94 era... maybe i was wrong?? BBC said it very well.. ROCK n ROLL!!! The thing about arrangance is, its arrangant when oasis say they are the best or act that way, but when EVERY single rapper out of the USA boasts about how good they are in EVERY single track(how much money they make, how many women they screw, how many "cribs" they have) its 100% acceptable!! talk about hypocrisy!!

Taken from the official site
OASIS WIN BEST ALBUM OF THE PAST 30 YEARS AT THE BRITS! 17 February 2010
Oasis' album '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?' won the award for the best album of the past 30 years at last night's Brit Award ceremony at Earl's Court in London. Liam was on hand to pick up the award.
'(What's The Story) Morning Glory?' has sold over 14 million copies worldwide, 4.2 of which are in the UK alone.
The number one album marked the band's first UK number one single with 'Some Might Say' and features live favourites such as 'Roll With It' and 'Champagne Supernova'. It also contains the singles 'Wonderwall' and 'Don't Look Back In Anger'. 'Wonderwall', released in 1995, was the band's 8th single in the space of 18 punch-drunk months that saw the band rise from noisy Manchester lads to the most talked about band in the world. These two songs, amongst so many others, have come to define Noel Gallagher's ability to write stadium-rousing anthems, something anyone who caught the band live can testify to.
The Brit Award category was voted for online by the public. The category was open to the best-selling, 'Best Album' winners from the past 29 Brit Awards to celebrate the Award's 30th birthday this year.
Oasis would like to thank everyone who took the time to vote for them. Cheers!
"Oasis would like to thank..." Oasis are no more who is thanking everyone?

Well whatever we could argue Liam should/ or shouldn't have said, he definitely made some impression, because they are reporting it even here is Australia. And Aussies know Oasis related stories are quite rare.. I was shocked that the story made the late news here in Australia on Channel 10 (Liam was mentioned before any Gaga and co.), and a popular news website here has as their headlining entertainment story : 'Lady Gaga wins three brit awards, Liam Gallagher loses the plot' www.news.com.au/entertainment/music/lady-gaga-wins-three-brit-awards-liam-gallagher-loses-the-plot/story-e6frfn09-1225831245818I guess Oasis fans need to reflect that a big part of Liam and Noel's appeal has been causing a stir, and that is something they will never lose. Surely these silly news stories will anger some out there and they will continue to ignore the music, but that is their loss.

So it was the Brits last night and I was honoured to be asked to host the show especially with it being 30 years old. Congratulations to all the winners, including Noel Gallagher who sadly didn't get a mention (and who thankfully isn't a knobhead).

Good to see him giving credit to Noel. Liam's twitter is devoid of any charm of wit. Quite sad I have to say.
