The Smile's Wall of Eyes <snip> As a fan of most of Radiohead / Thom Yorke's output, I wish I could get into The Smile. I'm not sure I've been able to finish either album all the way through.

Stereophonics - Performance And Cocktails 10/10 Yep it's a great album. Mind you, I also like their 2005 album as well Blood, Sex, Violence, Other and it has one of my favourite songs on there by them Dekota.

Did I manage to go a third week listening to nothing but music from 1994? You betcha⦠Teenager of the Year - Frank Black Blunted On Reality - Fugees The Orphan's Lament - Huun-Huur-Tu Pisces Iscariot - The Smashing Pumpkins The Guide (Wommat) - Youssou N'Dour Defend It - Beenie Man Resurrection - Common Voodoo Lounge - The Rolling Stones Bluff Limbo - ¡-Ziq Too High To Die - Meat Puppets Everything Is Wrong - Moby Troublegum - Therapy? Blowout Comb - Digable Planets Mirror Blue - Richard Thompson The Diary - Scarface Universal Mother - Sinéad O'Connor Smash - The Offspring American Thighs - Veruca Salt Guns Out - Bounty Killer versus Beenie Man Gorgeous George - Edwyn Collins Vitalogy - Pearl Jam Thug Life: Volume 1 - Thug Life Under the Pink - Tori Amos The Return Of The Space Cowboy - Jamiroquai Vauxhall And I - Morrissey Purple - Stone Temple Pilots Firin' In Fouta - Baaba Maal Let Love In - Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds Weezer - Weezer Renaissance: The Mix Collection - Sasha & John Digweed Whatever Happened to Utopia - Astralasia The Best Mixes from the Album Debut (For All the People Who Don't Buy White-Labels) - Bjârk Violently Happy (Remixes) - Bjârk Violently Happy - Bjârk Whatever - Oasis No Good (Start the Dance) - The Prodigy Cigarettes & Alcohol - Oasis Live Forever - Oasis Shakermaker - Oasis Supersonic - Oasis Massive fan of 'Teenager of the Year' by Frank Black. Unfortunately a lot of his solo work is overlooked, but that and his self-titled are both superb. Some of the production work by Eric Drew Feldman is very much of it's time but the songwriting is really strong. My favourites are: - Whatever Happened To Pong? - Thalassocracy - Calistan - Speedy Marie - Superabound - Big Red - White Noise Maker - Bad, Wicked World

That album is one of her best in my opinion. Mind you, I've never been a fan of everything she does though.

I should probably listen to some of her other work too. I bought Ray of Light back in -98 and it's still a very good and nicely produced pop album. Frozen and Drowned World/Substitute For Love are massive tunes.

The rest are a mixed bag in my opinion but there's definitely a hardcore following who pretty much love em all. If you do like the self titled and wanted to explore a little further I'd probably recommend checking out 'The Cult of Ray', the follow up to 'Teenager of the Year' (warning: prepare your brain for perhaps the worst cover art of all time), 'Dog In The Sand' the third Frank Black and the Catholics record and 'Bluefinger' which was released under his Pixies alias Black Francis in 2007. As you said Frozen and Drowned World/Substitute For Love are absolutely class. My mrs thinks im weird for liking them (shes a massive Madonna fan) but loves all her 80s nonsense
This is an absolute tune though, cant believe she played it when we saw her at the O2

It seems there's a big difference in the sound between her 80s and 90s songs.

I really like what the producers did on the album (William Orbit was the main producer I believe) by adding different sound bits, styles, drum and bass variations here and there, for example in Sky Fits Heaven and Skin. The icing on the cake is of course Madonna's voice.
