Initially, I struggled with this question. I loved DBTT and thought it was much better than the dissapointing HC (bar the amazing singles from that release).
DBTT nevertheless flows better, no matter what you think of either album.
But I've honetly haven't listened to DBTT for a long time, it seems - for once (for Oasis) - somewhat dated.
Lyla, TIOBI, and POTQ are still standouts.....KTDA and TUTS are under rated classics....but the rest is filler, albeit good filler.
Seriously: BIU, TT, WFTR, TSOTL, IOT, FD.....DOYS is better.
Initially I'd suggest DBTT b/c it flows better, but DOYS is miles...MILES ahead for me.

DBTT by a long fuckin way.
I don't skip any song on DBTT, unlike DOYS where I just turn it off after Falling Down.

I really like both albums, but as WITB said, I turn off after Falling Down also. The best songs on DOYS are superior to the ones on DBTT, but the worst ones are far worse than any of the ones on DBTT (I don't think there's any duff tune on DBTT - closest being A Bell Will Ring).
Don't Believe The Truth is more consistent and flows better, plus I was expecting a bigger leap forward for DOYS, which it didn't do unfortunately. I'm going to have to go with DBTT for the moment.

How albums stand the test of time usually tells you something and when I look back at the tracks on DBTT there are a couple that still stand out. Turn up the Sun, Part of the Queue and The Importance of Being Idle still shine for me.
On DOYS Falling Down has me feeling the same as the above, but I'm afraid that's it.
So... for me it has to be DBTT

The sentiment that DBTT has very few standout tracks is something that I've always noticed. I feel that it is the record with Noel's worst songwriting. TIOBI is a fantastic song, but other than that the rest of the songs are just GOOD. Nothing outstanding from him.
DOYS shows that Noel can write some fucking CHUNES. With the notable exception of HHL and Falling Down everything he wrote for that album is excellent. Unfortunately the songs that aren't excellent on the album are all TERRIBLE. I mean, there really is no middle ground on this record.
As a result I will definitely pick DBTT because the song has lasting appeal, I listen to it far more, it's good from start to finish, and it has one of the best flows of any Oasis record save MG.

DOYS, much better production.
but DBTT is more consistent. Tough call, I'll go with DBTT tho.

"Don't Believe the Truth", all the singles are top stuff, and the opener is terrific.

Its good listening back to DOYS now thats its been around a while and you can re-interpret how you feel about it.
For me it's their third best album to date and much better that DBTT. Although i agree that after Falling Down the quality on the album drops massivley, although i still like TBWTL and love Soldier On.
For me, bar the singles, there isn't really a song i ever want to listen to on DBTT. Besides Noel's inclusions on the record, the rest of it does nothing for me.

The only songs that I enjoy on DOYS are TT, TSOTL, IOT and that's it. I've never thought Lyla or TIOBI were anything spectacular, but DBTT as a whole still is the best record Oasis have put out since BHN. (or maybe MG)

I only listen to a couple of songs off DOYS, IOT and TSOTL. I also like WFTR, actually i've listened to that song several times in the last couple of years. TT and BIU are cool but nothing great. DBTT is a great fucking album. I like every song, even Mucky Fingers, which let's face it, it's probably the weakest song on the album. Lyla, KTDA, GGTIA, TIOBI, ABWR, MOS, LTBL, everything--i think that's the right word, that album's got everything i want in a rock album. Yeah sure, no great epic solos but still, great fucking album. No point of comparison really.

DBTT without doubt.
I still love Gallaghers, but DOYS was(and still is) my biggest Oasis disappointmet. The worst album they ever made, except Falling Down which is one of the best songs Noel has written in recent years.

DBTT without doubt. I still love Gallaghers, but DOYS was(and still is) my biggest Oasis disappointmet. Why do you say this? Is it because it was very un-Oasis or by contrast, was Oasis by numbers? I think the argument is a double-bladed sword. I, for one, despite acknowledging that TSOTL is a much stronger composition than Lyla, prefer to listen to the latter. That pretty much sums up my attitude towards those two albums.

Dig Out Your Soul without a doubt. I never understood why DBTT is often ranked so highly by people here. It's better than HC, but that's it - most songs on it are above average or average, it lacks an outstanding single. Sure, there's TIOBI, but somehow I never really got that one, and other than that, Lyla isn't bad, but simply Noel-by-numbers (no surprise he didn't want to release it as a first single), LTBL is a slowed down SCYHO, and songs like TUTS, MF, ABWR, POTQ, GGTIA, not to mention TMOS, lack a great chorus. My favorite on there is still KTDA. DOYS has 3 top-tier songs in IOT, TSOTL and Falling Down, plus 3 really good album tracks in TT, BIU and WFTR. The rest is way worse, but still not worse than ABWR, TMOS or TUTS.

Dig Out Your Soul could have been a contender! It has been said so many times over the last three years but the first half of the album is absolutely blinding. The song writing and production are excellent. Liam sounds great, as does Noel. It is just a crime the second half of the album after Falling Down is a mess. Songs like AGNOM and TNOR should never have been on the final tracklisting. GOYHH too. I would have much preferred Record Machine, Stop The Clocks, Boy With The Blues and Come On It's Alright to be on the album. I realize nobody has heard the last track but it has to be better than the other songs selected if Noel thought it would have been the first single. Oh well.
