I took my 16 yr old sister to see Charlie and the chocolate factory on saturday night and we had DBTT in the cd player. She's a newly converted Oasis fan, she always liked them but since i took her to the MSG gig, she's converted to the church of oasis.
Anyway, we put on DBTT and i started singing " i carry a madness everywhere i go " and she started pissing herself laughing because i had apparantly sang the wrong words. She was convinced that the words were " i carry an atlas everywhere i go ". I could not convince her that she was wrong, the only way i eventually convinced her is when we got home and i showed her the cd cover.
Her point was that it was much more sensible to carry an atlas rather than a madness incase you got lost !!!

atlas!! Lol!!
there was a thread here just after the songs had been leaked, and some punter refused to believe that it was "madness" and was convinced it was "mattress"
"I CARRY A MATTRESS... EVERYWHERE I GO!"
like a fair few people, in MF i thought it was "you found your god in a paperbag" but that's excusable.... atlas & mattress are not!

My mum misheards so many things too. She thought that the Strokes sing "My ex says I'm lacking in sex" in Someday, and that Noel sings Slip inside the eye of your kind.

For years I thought the last line in DLBIA was "It's not too late".

Until my fellow Oasis mate put me right the other day i always thought the line in Mucky Fingers was... "As you look in the mirror you get tired of your bumps and bones" Needless to say i felt a bit stupid when i was singing along to it whilst playing on his computer. ;D

I am nearly wetting myself with laughter here...
My brother thought it was Turn On The Sun, despite the title being Turn UP The Sun. Not as funny but god knows what is wrong with him.
"And lights go out at the speed of sound" instead of "And birds go flying at the speed of sound".
Another of my brother's.
*shakes head in disbelief*

Funny how sometimes you'll mishear lyrics and it seems to fit the song just as well, or better. Until someone on this board corrected me I always thought the line in Gas Panic went "My eyes are dead and my throat's like a Burlap whore" instead of "black hole." And in Some Might Say I used to think "if you don't get yours I won't get mine as well" was "if you don't get drunk I won't get high as well."

When I first heard it I thought Columbia was "I can't tell you the way I feel because the way I feel is oh so real to me" That's about it though

And in Some Might Say I used to think "if you don't get yours I won't get mine as well" was "if you don't get drunk I won't get high as well." And we know if Liam sang that, he'd be LYING! This is hilarious! "I carry an atlas everywhere I go/over the border…" Hey, why not? When I first heard "Some Might Say," and for a while afterwards, I thought the line was "the sink is full of fishes/but she's got many issues on the brain". I thought it was one of those "celebration of the everday people" kinda things, like this woman, whoever she was, had to work and take care of the family and all that, but that didn't necessarily mean she couldn't/didn't think about bigger things and dream about bigger things while involved in the daily daily. I suppose it could still mean something like that — "all my thoughts been itchin'/itchin' in the kitchen once again." Maybe an escape from the drudgery of the daily daily, which was often a theme in the earlier songs? But maybe I'm getting those words wrong, too.
