Onyewu is playing at the back? No wonder the US are so bad are we watching the same Gooch? Gooch = Animal , just ask the English today:) He's played for my club, I've seen some awful defenders in my time supporting Newcastle and he rates among the worst and believe me that's saying something

hey ok so Green had a tiny mishap.... anyone ever think of how come Dempsey got his shot off in the first place, he did a great job getting 2 meters between him and the defender.

Maybe if Rooney wasn't dominated by the US defense you Brits wouldn't be so mad about Green right now. The fact is, both teams had their chances, England finished one, USA got lucky once. Overall it was an even game.
The only real quality chances i can think of are Heskey's breakaway and Altidore's post.
By the 2nd half, the US began playing for a tie, and moved one striker back to the midfield with a sub. Thats why England seemed to have more offensive pressure than the US, but really didn't get off any great shots.
To think USA would not have tied the game if Green made that save is dumb. The whole dynamic of the match changed after the goal was let in. Had the US not scored that lucky goal, they would've no doubt put more offensive pressure on throughout the game. Once they tied it though, I figure they'd be happy with 1 point, and did a good job of preserving it.

England didn't deserve to win, 1-1 is a fair score. France and England didn't start well, Argentina was average. But it's a good thing, you can grow in the tournament. That's the problem with my country: we start brilliantly but then ruin it later on

TBH Neither England nor the US are going to do well in the tournament. England have a poor team and even with that the US were only worthy of a draw at best. Watch out for Brazil is all I say.

Germand going deep in the World Cup? Not shocking at all. They always do. Best match of the Cup so far. It'll be interesting to watch the match against Ghana.
Tomorrow's matches will be awesome too. Especially looking forward to Paraguay-Italia. Let's go Paraguay!
Eva, why the hell is Jonás Gutiérrez in Argentina's squad? He's not good enough in his natural position, let alone Right Back.

yeah, he was terrible. the weakest zone in the defense. mogly, diego adores jonas, so he will play anyway. next game he most likely will be in the midfield, but on the left. plus, veron is injured, I don't think he'll play.

mediocre match, but I'm happy, 2-0 is a good score. The matches have been pretty average so far (apart from Germany of course)

Kinda similar to here today. I had a day off anyway, but from 12:30 there was nobody to see on my street. I've heard that school children watched the match with teachers in the school today. Good luck tomorrow, marcos!

Germany were very good, but Australia were dreadful so we'll see if they keep it up. Brazil and Spain look miles ahead of everyone else, especially after these opening games. It will be interesting to see if those two set the standard when they get started.

Because the service he was being provided with was pretty poor for the most part he was dropping far to deep to try and pick up the ball. He was therefore ineffective. 'To think USA would not have tied the game if Green made that save is dumb.' Why is it dumb? Since thats pure speculation, what is to say you would of scored?

The man dropped a bollock of epic proportions. The shot was weak and would have been delt with by a lot of local league keepers. Dempsey did well to find space but it wasn't a decent strike.
