I just can't thank Oasis enough. They have been an inspiration to my life. Since I became a fanatic over two years ago, I appreciated so much quality music, and without them I wouldn't have got in to The Beatles, Smiths, Stone Roses, The Kinks, etc.
Really gutted I never got to see them live.

I suppose now all I can hope for is some miraculous Urban Hymns type get together in a couple years.
But if it comes to pass that this is all we see from Oasis, they have still had an incredible career and a serious impact on my life.

I have been a fan since the first time I heard Live Forever and have loved everything they have produced. There have been many ups and downs being a fan of the band, but Oasis has always been special to me and I am pretty sad it could be over.
I definitely thank them for the music and all of the awesome gigs I have seen over the years. Hopefully this will blow over and if it doesn't a Noel solo career and Liam continuing to sing (side projects, joining another band, or solo) would still be special.

Fantastic band, 2nd in my mind only to the Beatles. I hope one day I can see them live together again, but I'd settle for seeing Noel on tour by himself. I didn't really get into them untill a couple years ago, but all their songs still sound just as amazing and timeless to me. I only wish I had gotten into them sooner, in their prime. They are probably the greatest band of the past 2 decades, and I think it will be quite some time before another band can entertain and amaze us like they did with songs that almost anybody can love and sing along with. Don't look back in anger

What I'd really like to thank Oasis for is for NOT splitting after Morning Glory, Knebworth, etc. The first two albums may be their popular legacy, but it's the other ones that I really cherish. Don't Believe the Truth is my favorite Oasis album and I'll never forget how it felt listening to that album the summer before college. A defining moment in my life. And all the hit singles and fan-only bootlegs they've released since the mid-90s have changed my life for the better. Of course I love Champagne Supernova, but that belongs to everyone. I feel something special towards songs like Part of the Queue, Songbird, All Around the World, Record Machine, The Turning, Thank You For the Good Times, Idler's Dream and almost every other song. Regardless of what Oasis' musical legacy turns out to be, they'll always be classics to me. I cannot thank them enough.

Thank you, i'm studying music technology in college starting next month. Before Oasis i didn't have an interest in music. Now it's my life. They've (especially Noel) have changed my life. Slane was epic. Goodbye, thanks, peace, love, jelly and ice cream.

Thank you Noel, you taught me how being ignorant and speaking out gets you to places. You got me through the hard moments in high school and college, it's cool that you're left handed, have a wobbly right hand (according to Colin Murray), and have a screwy foot, and are dyslexic just like me and nothing has stopped you from being great. .

I can't thank Oasis enough. They've had such an impact on my life, they got me into music and they've been a constant source of inspiration for me. They're completely unique and it just seems so sad to see it end like this...I don't think it's quite sunk in yet.
It's cheesy to say, but there are many special memories that are attatched to Oasis songs and I don't think I'll find another band that personally meant as much as them.
Noel, Liam, Gem, Andy, Chris, Bonehead, Guigs, Zak and Tony; Thank You For The Good Times.

We all can learn from this band - overcoming adversity, speaking your mind, pursuing your interests, etc. They made awesome music, too with many great songs capturing every day emotions of normal people. Speaking of normal people, the Gallaghers' have always been the most down to earth celebrities in our life time. This band meant more to people than just their great tunes, and that says it all (or should I say sing it all?). Thanks Oasis for everything.
I'll be even more thankful should Noely G and 'his kid' work through their differences and 're-form' for the third time to produce a great 8th record in 3 years time.
Thanks for everything. It's been a 'fuckin' pleasure' from the point of view of us fans, too. Cheers.

I can remember the first time I listened to Oasis. Of course, I must've heard them ton's of times on the radio beforehand but I was young so probably never recognised them. It was 'Stand By Me'. I saw it on Limewire (I was looking for the other song of the same name as I had been doing in school music classes and was digging it, I can't remember the original singer but Lennon covered it once). I soon realised it wasn't the song I was looking for but I liked it a lot.
A few months later I had a trip to Belgium or somewhere like that. The day I was off, me music player broke and in an instant my dad chucked me his. I wasn't keen, as at this point I was like full into Green Day at this point and I knew there was only the album on there was the American Idiot one which I had at that point played to death. Whilst flicking through I saw Oasis come up on the band list so I thought 'Why not?'. The album was WTSMG (it would be, wouldn't it?). Of course, I only recognised a few songs but for some odd reason I picked one I had never heard, or heard of, ever. The title track itself, Morning Glory.
Thinking about that moment even brings a little smile back on my face.
Everyone says they have 'a band', a band that they just can't get enough of and cannot produce a bad song, no matter how much they take a blind eye to the truth. Oasis are that band to me. They inspired me, helped me through the bad times with their music, they have had a massive influence on my current spell of teenage life.
Thank you for the good times.

Oasis.
Now There's a thought.
I'm only 18, been into Oasis for about 3 years. Probably as most 14/15 year olds out there, I heard a few of the hits and thought no more of it. That then made me buy STC, which got me into a few of their more lesser known hits, if ya get me. Hours worth of downloading and browsing through music shops later, I can honestly say that I am proud to be an Oasis fan.
Their music has really given me something to look forward to each and every day over the past 3 years. It's been through Oasis that I've got into bands like Beatles, Stones, Who, Stone Roses etc. etc. and I'm sure that that is one of the biggest compliments I could give.
At times in the last three years, Oasis have helped me deal with life, helped me learn and taught me some vital lessons. Some of the meanings and lyrics in the songs have changed the way I live my life, and they shall do so into the future.
I really, really hope that there is someway that Noel can see all the tributes, because I am not just aimlessly waffling on about, I genuinely mean it.
I'm so pleased I got to see my heroes in the flesh twice.
Thanks for the memories fella....

Althought I never really posted on the site, I have to admit I will miss the antics of the brothers Gallagher. Only been listening to them for about 2 years, but have to say I grew quite attached. Love you guys.
Live Forever You've inspired me and a whole generation of people to better themselves and to never let go of the Dreams We have as Children.

Only just saw this topic...
I have so much to thank Oasis for. The first time I remember consciously hearing them, I was ten. DLBIA, actually, which other fans have always found so strange, given that I'm Canadian and the only Oasis song so many of my fellow countrymen know is Wonderwall. I started hearing other songs after that, but only when I was about twelve did I start to really think about them again. I was intrigued enough by DLBIA to go out and buy (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, and that was pretty much it for me. Hello was an instant favourite with me, and by the time I reached Cast No Shadow, I knew that this was it. They would be my new favourite band, a spot occupied previously by the Who.
I'm 19 now, almost twenty, really, and they're still my favourite band. WTSMG was the soundtrack to my high school years. I used to lay on my back on the floor in the dark and listen to it over and over. BHN was my party album. DM made me feel optimistic about the future, like even I could have a shot if I just wanted it badly enough. I stuck with them through Heathen Chemistry, faithful that they'd return with a better offering, and DBTT was better. DOYS was their best album (in my opinion) in a good while, and I'm glad they went out on a decent note.
All in all, I'm so proud to be an Oasis fan. Hearing that they broke up was really hard for me (it was weird, like hearing a friend had died. We had put my dog down earlier in the week, so it was like two huge blows, if that makes sense). I'm proud to call them my very favourite band. I'm proud to defend them to the people who say they're just plain old Beatles rip off artists. And I'm so grateful that I got to see them before this. I'll never stop listening to Oasis and even though all of this is still a shock, I hope that the Oasis community can help us all remember exactly why we love this band so much.
Long reply, I know... I am a journalism student, so I take any chance I can get...
Stay young and live forever.

It's funny, i know EVERYONE here will find this weird but the first song i heard from Oasis was actually don't go away, only about 2 or so years ago. I didn't pursue the band until a week after when i searched them and listened to don't look back in anger.
I distinctly and clearly remember watching THIS performance and getting hooked, then and there.
I wanted to BE noel, i know that might sound gay, but he's really the reason i picked up the guitar in the first place. If it wasn't for this performance, i wouldn't have thought.. "WOW, how cool is he? how cool is that guitar? i want to play guitar when i get older."
Oasis changed the way i listen to music, and in some ways even the way i think. I thank them for all their music, jokes, and gigs.
I only ever got to see them once in Detroit last year, but at least i can say i have ONCE. It away amazing, of course
that's a vid i took
