Sorry, I had to do it..
So I understand this is an Oasis forum, so I'm probably putting up a deathtrap for Kasabian, but I'm just curious. Which album ends up being the better album to you? We're gonna do this by individual tracks, so here we go... *leaps forward*
Bag It Up vs. Underdog The Turning vs. Where Did All the Love Go? Waiting for the Rapture vs. Swarfiga The Shock of the Lightning vs. Fast Fuse I'm Outta Time vs. Take Aim (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady vs. Thick as Thieves Falling Down vs. West Ryder Silver Bullet To Be Where There's Life vs. Vlad the Impaler Ain't Got Nothin' vs. Ladies & Gentlemen, Roll the Dice The Nature of Reality vs. Secret Alphabets Soldier On vs. Fire *The Boy with the Blues vs. Happiness
*Add either the one I chose or 'I Believe in All'
Now here's mine..
Bag It Up The Turning Waiting for the Rapture The Shock of the Lightning Take Aim Thick as Thieves Falling Down Vlad the Impaler Ain't Got Nothin' Secret Alphabets Fire Happiness
Holy shit!.. A tie!

Here's mine:-
Bag it up/Underdog (too close to call im afraid!) The turning Waiting for the rapture Shock of the lighting Im outta time Thick as thieves Falling down/West ryder silver bullet (too close to call again!) To be where there's life Ain't got nothing Secret alphabets Soldier on Happiness
So quite a resounding victory for DOYS going track by track, but Im really loving the new Kasabian album so if I could have a mix of the two:-
Bag it up Underdog The turning Where did all the love go? Shock of the lightning Im outta time West ryder silver bullet Falling down To be where there's life Thick as thieves/Fire (toughie!) Soldier on Happiness

kasab's new one has more bombs than DOYS, amazingly enough. And outside of Fire, Fast Fuse, and Underdog, the rest of the "non-bombs" are just barely "good"
DOYS has a clear and easy victory, IMO.

This is a ridiculous way to compare albums.
You should compare the best with the best and the worst with the worst.
The Turning > Underdog Falling Down > Fire .... .... The Nature of Reality > Swarfiga

This is a ridiculous way to compare albums. You should compare the best with the best and the worst with the worst. The Turning > Underdog Falling Down > Fire .... .... The Nature of Reality > Swarfiga who decides whats best and whats worst?? true, but then whats the point of this thread then? To see what people like there is no right or wrong. So if you pick your best off of DOYS and the best off of the new kasabian its about you. The general census on DOYS is that TNOR and AGN are the worst tracks on DOYS. Maybe add HHL.

One more time: New Kasabian has 3 really good songs: Underdog, Fast Fuse, Where did the Love Go. 1 Good song, fire. The rest sucks. They should've made an ep instead.
DOYS has 7 really, really good songs. The duds on the album are far better than the duds on the kasabian record.

Bag It Up The Turning Waiting for the Rapture The Shock of the Lightning vs. Fast Fuse *TIE* Take Aim Thick as Thieves Falling Down To Be Where There's Life vs. Vlad the Impaler *TIE* Ladies & Gentlemen, Roll the Dice Secret Alphabets Fire Happiness
Basically, DOYS's first half is better then West Ryder's first half and vice versa.

DOYS contains some good tracks for an Oasis fan... but we know it... in fact... it's a very bad album... That why I hate speaking about other bands on a fan forum... Bag it up, Falling Down, Waiting for the Rapture, TWTIL and the Shock... that's it... The rest is simple an amateur work... Kasabian got a full real album where each songs need the other one... Also more professional in the album production than DOYS... Sardy sucks and he is useless... You've got one massive tube in the Oasis album : The Shock... Sorry but 1 year after the release... I never listened this album... Don't want... so boring... We will see with Kasabian... I just know this is a REAL album... with 5 massive hits : Fire, Fast Fuse, Vlad, Underdog, Where Did all the love go. Ohhhh and yesss eva... Vlad is a top track... but you need to be more open in your music taste I think... this track is a perfect combination between Beastie Boys and Primal scream. Loving a lot the electronic part in rock.

I think this tag of the massive concept album is being floated around to much to compensate for the fact that West Ryder simply has it's fair share of duds. Kasabian made a great album, but you can't excuse the dreary filler by saying "It's part of the concept!" or "It makes up the REAL album!"
Vlad is a menacing tune, Underdog is genius, Thick As Thieves, Fast Fuse, and Take Aim are also great. Fire to me sounded much better live long before I heard the recorded version, they didn't quite capture that same quality on the record.
On the other hand, I won't be the first to admit that DOYS has flaws. Yes it tails off at the end, but at no point did I feel it dragged, and there's a few points in West Ryder where my attention begins to slip. Fire has a great, huge chorus, but it's too simple. Vlad as a single was wasted by being released early, like Falling Down, it sort of loses it's impact on the outide world, and I think it could have been a great lead radio single. DOYS has immense diversity, experimentation and while Noel without a doubt can claim most of the highlights, the highlights themselves reign supreme over West Ryders better moments. It has probably 5 tracks at most I'll be listening to six months from now. Whilst I've only really stopped listening to SO and HHL from DOYS. So we'll see how it pans out, but now, it's DOYS for me.
Oh and The Turning is one of the best Oasis tracks since 'Glory, a credit to everything the band is about and it'll probably be a legendary lost gem for not gaining wider public recognition via single release.

Loving a lot the electronic part in rock. love the bold, nice touch. and my taste is fine. I can say the same to you, but it's your taste adn I don't care about it nor I will try to change it. but now you are being "A basic Kasabian crazy fan, without brain..." you can't possibly say Vlad is a top track. c'mon. and you wanna convince me with Beastie Boys? that's not making me like it more, au contraire my friend ;D

I think its a good topic that has been handled the wrong way.
Either compare the albums as a whole or rate each song out of 10 and then add up the overall score out of 120!
Its hard to compare the two as a whole album because they are different styles but personally Kasabian are making tunes that remind me of Definitely Maybe and they make up for Oasis not having that Rock'n'Roll feel so I like to listen to both.
Oasis as a band will always be on top though.

I don't count Swarfiga as a track, it's more of a Swamp Song excerpt if you know what I mean...
1. Underdog 2. The Turning 3. Fast Fuse 4. The Shock of the Lightning 5. Thick as Thieves 6. West Ryder/Silver Bullet 7. Falling Down 8. To Be Where There's Life 9. Secret Alphabets 10. Fire 11. Happiness

Vlad is a fucking massive track, my favorite off West Ryder. I thought I was the only one, it seems to be getting the old 'lead track / first release' backclash The Shock got soon after release last year for being a formulaic, by the numbers track. I think its ballsiest (not a word ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/1258801/images/A9bL_RjIN9bOhnrQxKjN.gif) ) track on the album, and has everything a great Kasabian track should have. As I recall Zane Lowe saying, it's got about 26 hooks. The refrains, choruses, bridges, verses, all catchy as anything on the album, and whilst lyrically it isn't exactly profound, its one of those swaggering head on tracks thats just made to be amazing live. That distorted bass riff as well, just complements everything, such a beast of a tune!
