I like them enough to have all 3 albums, but no way in hell are they successors! Anyone saying that is fooling themselves.
By album 1 Oasis were bigger than Kasabian's first album
By album 2 Oasis were bigger than Kasabian could ever dream ever
By album 3 Oasis were beyond monumental, Kasabian haven't cracked anything other than England, and it's debatable if they're even bigger than Coldplay/Twang/Arctic Monkeys/Enemy....for the most part, they aren't
Their lyrics are shit, for the most part. They have a good rock sound, but they don't speak to youth culture.
Kasabian will be a mediocre band in England and a nothing band in the US/Worldwide. Sorry to break it to you diehard Kasabian fans.
Kasabian are fine, not bad but not good either....and def. fucking not monumental.
Oasis was a special band that came at the right time. The time isn't right right now for a big band to peak, nor is Kasabian amazing enough to do it.
If I wasn't into Oasis and british bands/culture I'd never would have heard of Kasabian. And NO ONE in the US really knows who they are. That's sad and pathetic since they're on their 3rd album already (sad and pathetic for Enemy and Twang, too, mind, esp since the latter hasnt even released its 2007 album in the US - and u wonder why I illegally download? Fucking idiots)
Kasabian is NOT the next Oasis. Anyone believe that is an idiot. - They don't have the tunes, they don't speak to the youth, and they don't have the world's attention by album 3!

They don't need to be; no one needs to be.
Also, you listen to The Twang, so fuck off.

How are Kasabian mediocre? They're a good band and an absolutely stunning live band. You seem to judging them on the fact they're not big in the states? Who gives a fuck, it probably say's more about the record buying public in the states than the band itself.
Well done on another shit thread.

Why do you ALWAYS have to compare a band to another and rank EVERY song/album you heard, live4evr?
Oasis are Oasis Kasabian are Kasabian
I'm sick of hearing you calling people "idot" on here.

why do you care?
some people think Kasabian are better, some don't. if you don't, ok then, it's no big deal. I don't think Kasabian are good but I don't go telling people they shouldn't like what I don't like or to think the way I think

Kasabian could've been if they'd followed up the first album. Since going on an ego trip though and chucking out their co-songwriter they've gone massively downhill. Empire was half good, WRPLA's maybe about a quarter decent.

Twang are much better than Kasabian, no fuckin doubt about that. Plenty of doubt from where I'm sitting. Thing is, Kasabian WERE touted as heirs to the throne; by Noel himself, if I remember correctly. The comparison has been made, and continues to be made, regardless of whether or not anyone agrees that it should be. People have been looking for Oasis' successor for almost ten years now, and will continue to do so until a band actually comes along and delivers the goods. So, whether or not you consider Oasis and Kasabian to be totally independent from one another, fact is there's enough of a similarity between the two bands - musically or otherwise - that it is appropriate for people to make the comparison.

Empire was half good, WRPLA's maybe about a quarter decent. I second that, still a massive fan of the first album but everything they've done since just hasn't cut it for me, Empire was supposed to have been the one that proved they were the biggest band going but it just wasn't, 3 or 4 half decent songs and the rest was shite, haven't heard the new album yet but it seems that they've once again missed a good opportunity to prove themselves and come out with a truly 'classic' album. Don't get me wrong but I really was one of those that had high hopes for Kasabian and yeah, becoming a true successor to Oasis, but it really hasn't happened that way.

The fact is there might be ever any band like how Oasis was in the nineties, but since then their music has undeniably declined in quality. Kasabian's first album is the finest of the decade in my opinion, and The West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum is probably the album of the year. They certainly aren't any Oasis, but they're the best band in the world.

Kasabian are good. Its just too me they still haven't made their true classic. Their debut showed a lot of promise but was lacking, empire was average, the new one is probably their best yet but still not a classic. Also i find both Tom and Serge Pizzorno's voices to be a little too limited and wavering sometimes. But in a music world filled with Rap gangsta's, tween pop stars its good to see a band that is rock n roll and interesting.

I don't understand the buzz around them! lol

To call Kasabian the new Oasis is a bit daft there a totally different band, I suppose they get compared because there similar in character but they don't have a great deal in comparison musically.
Serge is inspired by hip-hop and dance music just as much as he is Oasis, Stones and Zeppelin.
Its going to be a long long time before any band British band come along and have such a massive impact on music, it might not be another 20 years. The way music has evolved so much it could be even longer.
I respect Serge as a song writer just as much as Noel, he's not as prolific but he tries different things. Where Oasis never really leave there comfort zone. Which you could call lazy an uninspiring.
I think Kasabian will consistently deliver good albums, nothing outstanding but solid enough albums.. But lets be honest isn't that what Oasis have done for the last 10 years.
NL4E NO WAY are The Twang better than Kasabian, if they were anywhere never as good, I'm pretty sure with a new album out in a few Weeks they would have been playing Heaton Park!!!

Two different bands, paths, eras.
No matter what genre, there will never be that huge kind of phenomenon ever again.

You know what? Fuck the notion that their lyrics are shit, it works in context of the music. One of the reasons why I don't like Where Did All The Love Go is cos the lyrics try to be way too preachy. I think it's fine when a band has mental lyrics as long as the band itself is mental. Fast Fuse is absolutely fearless, as it should be!
"Come get me Wicked fines won’t arrest me I’m like Lucifer’s child Wild, acid done Black sunglasses shade the morning sun Come get me All you fuckers can’t touch me I’m a hooligan cryer, sire Sit, don’t scatter It don’t matter Gimme 1…2…3…
Oh How dare you! Not it’s time to address you I’m the reason you claim Shame, stalk my name See my fist chopping off your reign It’s getting hotter Now I’m spitting out lava Well I’m just putting it into words Just genuine stock Hear that bomb going tick tick tock"
