Incrediblly fascinating info as usual, thanks for sharing. The bit I thought wasn't Noel was 3:06-3:18 (Slide in baby) on the DM version I just thought it was a a bit shrill & whiny (for lack of a better term) to be Noel's voice but... I could totally be wrong, like liam his voice has certainly gone through changes over the years. Also, you're probably the best person to ask if you don't mind, it's been established that Bonehead played some colourful, unusual parts on Oasis tunes (mellotron on Cast No Shadow & Wonderwall etc when Noel decided he would take all the guitar and bass parts himself on those two tunes) just wondered if you knew if he played the melodica on Champgane Supernova - its down on Wiki (unverified) that Bonehead did. Possilbly the same thing happened on Champagne Supernova as the other two tunes?. Thanks again for the excellent material you contribute. You're welcome -glad you like it! Re the vocals on the line cited above sounding more shrill than Noel's usual delivery - I just thought that this could in part be because Owen Morris varispeeded many tracks on the released mix of Definitely Maybe, usually speeding each one up slightly to a place he felt was more exciting (with a corresponding increase in pitch compared to the earlier mix). Owen Morris gives some more detail on his mixing techniques for the album in this interview: www.oasis-recordinginfo.co.uk/?page_id=12Not sure of the answer to the question on Champagne Supernova, but I'm looking into it and will post any new info on it in this thread...

I emailed Nick Brine (who was in 1995 studio engineer at Rockfield during the Morning Glory sessions) on the question of whether Bonehead played the Melodica on Champagne Supernova and he kindly got back with the following info: (The mystery part in question is around 1.25 into the track, where in the official music video Bonehead is shown playing a Melodica) Nick Brine: "If my memory serves me correctly I seem to remember this being played on a mellotron. There's every possibility it was still played by Bonehead as he was on piano/keys duty for a lot of the tracks. But something tells me it was Owen or Noel. Sorry to be a bit vague. I would guess Owen on Mellotron. " Thanks to Nick for this info. Judging by this and Owen Morris's recollection of working on the song in the link below, it seems plausible that the bit at 1.25 was among the parts played by him on Mellotron. www.soundonsound.com/sos/nov12/articles/classic-tracks-1112.htmI think this might be a similar scenario to the Wonderwall video (which like the Champagne Supernova video, was directed by Nigel Dick) where a cello was shown rather than the Mellotron used on the track when it was recorded.

Interesting to read in this article that an E-Bow was used to create those harmonized overdubbed guitar parts, you hear them most clearly in the codas of both Champagne Supernova and DLBIA. He never used the e-bow onstage and dropped its use in the studio entirely after MG didn't he? I don't remember any other tracks with it. Around the same time, Peter Buck was a huge fan of the e-bow using it to strikingly sinister effect on REM tracks EBow the Letter & Walk Unafraid. The other thing that just occurred to me: does a mellotron have a melodica setting? I always thought the point of them was to mimic orchestras and choirs if you were on a budget, seems to me a melodica would be cheap and easy enough to get a hold of. Coincidentally there's a fabulous REM track which closes out Automatic For The People, Find The River, which also makes central use of a melodica part.

Thanks for the kind comments all! Much appreciated.
Good point on Noel's use of an E-Bow on those tracks... Along with the Mellotron parts I think it helps give Don't Look Back in Anger a really lush sound, for want of a better word! The effect is highlighted in this fan mix made from the multichannel stems from the Morning Glory SACD

"Catch the wheel that breaks the butterfly" from Falling Down sounds like " These could be the best days of our life" from Digsy's Dinner. Does anybody else hear this or is it just me?

Coke dealer? There was a lot of coke... They didn't advertise it but every copy of Be Here Now has a little cocaine sprinkled in the liner notes.

On the Lord don't slow me down DVD (the tour footage)
HAs anyone else noticed how Gem and Andy seem to despise the Kasabian boys, well more Tom than anyone else.......The stare that Gem gives him is class!!
Tom Meighan is the biggest arse licker and fan boy, he was cringeworthy in that DVD and fake as fuck! - he would be panned on here, in fact I bet he's a member!

Go Let It Out:
At 0:42 Noel says 'Hit the bass..."
At 1:47 Liam makes a sound like he's getting punched in the stomach "huuahhh..."
In the official video Noel plays bass and Liam is on guitar. I believe that is the only time we've ever seen that!
Also found live - Liam says "oooooh" instead of "huuahhh" at 1:46.

'Stop The Clocks' plagiarises 'Looking Glass' by the La's to f**k.
Same verse melody, even the same lyric "turn the world around".
Anyone else noticed this?

Go Let It Out: At 0:42 Noel says 'Hit the bass..." Actually, it's ''Pick up the bass'' Never heard the ''yes you did'' thing on DYKWIM either, I've never really paid attention to Noel's vocals on that. Thought it was all part of the song backwards, so gibberish

Click track is audible right at the beginning of Slide Away. Listened to it with high quality headphones last night and noticed it. Its just a few hihats according to my ears.
