Oasis have returned to the Top Ten of the UK singles chart tonight (March 15) - but have failed to claim their first Number One single since 2005. 'Falling Down', the third single to be taken from current LP 'Dig Out Your Soul', is the band's 23rd UK Top Ten hit, but only just made it, going in at Ten. The new chart-topper is 'Islands In The Stream', the Comic Relief charity single featuring comedians from the show 'Gavin And Stacey' as well as Tom Jones and Robin Gibb from The Bee Gees, who wrote the original 'Islands In The Stream', a hit in 1984 for Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. i think it's a joke,£1.99 for a cd single & still fans still wont buy it? btw im not slagging anyone off here but it seems weird to me,there's loads of fans here if everyone here had bought it it could have been number 1.HMV has free delivery i think it's great 4 tracks for £1.99 i do admit i downlaod alot from here, live gigs but i always buy the cds.they're definitely worth having as part of the best collection you'll get (apart from the beatles ) i just dont think they'll have any more number 1's. kings of leon are at 8 with their shit song?? it's been out for ages aswel.

DOYS is the best album since be here now although i like all the alsumbs they've made, the singles that have been released should've all entered within the top 3 definitely.the comic relief song at number 1 is shit.
the turning will be the 4th single definitely if there is a 4th.i think bag it up or rapture would be better,we'll have to see.

The lack of b-sides does not help. Those Swollen Blue Hands is not going to move the needle either.

The main reason though, is that Itunes sales are not counted since Falling Down is listed as EP... Sad but true.. Falling Down would have been a bit higher if not...

The main reason though, is that Itunes sales are not counted since Falling Down is listed as EP... Sad but true.. Falling Down would have been a bit higher if not... that would explain I'm outta time cos it too was an EP and it only reached #12.. either way dig out your soul is not a singles album. it doesn't mean it's not good it just mean that the singles of it don't appeal to a lot of the fans of oasis who want poppy, immediately catchy tunes. in fact, i'm actually rather pleased it made the top 10 considering the other 9, (1. Comic Relief 09 – 'Islands In The Stream' 2. Flo Rida fest Kesha - 'Right Round' 3. The Saturdays – 'Just Can't Get Enough' 4. Lady GaGa – 'Poker Face' 5. Taylor Swift – 'Love Story' 6. Kelly Clarkson – 'My Life Would Suck Without You' 7. Ti Ft Justin Timberlake - 'Dead And Gone' 8. Kings Of Leon – 'Use Somebody' 9. Akon ft Offishall/c O'Donis – 'Beautiful')are pretty much complete pop, hip hop or country (no offence to KOL but use somebody is probably the most commercial song they've ever made)

It's fucking shit. I live in the Orkney Islands and they have no place where you can buy singles.

I think Falling down getting to number 10 is quite impressive... when taking into account most of us already downloaded it last August, and with the on going b-sides fiasco its not that bad. It's when they start not selling out the big shows in an hour etc when I think panic should set in haha.

that they are not THAT popular is the nature of law. they are not in their twens anymore. but if yopu look at they sold out pretty big to absolutely huge venues they play-they appeal more people than ever-that proves the opposite. its just the weird singlemarket these days. fans like me prefer to download all that singleremixstuff than to buy it...most people do that....cause they are no b-sides anymore plus...the singles are rated as an ep, not as a single...but everytime they release a new song the sales of doys increase

The lack of b-sides does not help. Those Swollen Blue Hands is not going to move the needle either. thats because the song is utterly rubbish

I was gutted to hear they just made number 10. I mean they sell thousands of tickets for concerts, nowadays to get a top 3 single you only have to sell about 30,000 singles or less dont you ?
Poor the fans wont buy the single, even had a new song on as a b side. Surely i'm not the only one who buys the singles also for their collection ?
Not much to buy a £1.99 single is it ?

They have no. 1s to come. TSOTL was very unlucky not to get to 1. Nah, that was just pure marketing failure in my opinion! The single had been out over a month before the single was released. It had gotten heavy airplay, and it didn't help that the single didn't contain any original b-sides (The Falling Down Chem Brothers remix had also been available for over a month before the single release). People was either tired of it and/or had downloaded the single. At least they did something right to the Falling Down single. Given it proper b-sides and stuff like that. I actually feel very bad for Liam here, that I'm Outta Time didn't reach the top 10. It's definitely a top 10 tune, and if they only did some more work on the single, it would've had a fair chance of reaching the top 10. They've done the singles all wrong this time! What was it Noel said about all the remixes for b-sides in the stopcryingyourheartout interview? I just thought the remixes would sell their selves or something like that?

The lack of b-sides does not help. "The lack of b-sides" The DOYS campaign probably has the most b-sides ever in the history of Oasis. I haven't counted them, but there's definitely more compared to DBTT. Those Swollen Blue Hands is not going to move the needle either. The b-sides of this era are equally as good, if not better, than the b-sides from the DBTT era. A famous artist remixing your songs (Prodigy, Chemical Bros) has far better commercial value than releasing tripe like Wont Let you Down, Shitting Here In Silence & The Quiet Ones.
