Lots of members of the forums have been talking about VLV, so, what are your thoughts? I think it's a good album, worst than Parachutes and AROBTTH, and a bit worst than X&Y, but that's cause Viva La Vida and Violet Hill are everywhere.

I like Coldplay, but I don't like this album that much, I wouldn't say "shit", but I find it mediocre and below average.
I had high expectations at first too based on hearing Violet Hil prior to the album coming out, although that lyric "If you like me, come on let me know" is what a shy ten year old boy would write on a love letter to a girl in his class he had a crush on or something.
I hope the next one from them is better.

id say its a bad album compared to parachutes. i dont think they'll top it but fair play if they do. VLV, i did like the song actually when it came out but its been so overplayed i havnt bother to buy the album but listened to all the tracks. im sick of hearing that 1 song of it though. if i had to rate out 10 probably a 6.

i'd call it average. it's mostly hit or miss, as it's so different from any of their other albums. they were clearly trying new things, and some worked, some didn't. i give them respect for not playing into their old tricks half-assedly.

Pure shit. It would have been average if they dropped the failed double track idea, wtf were they thinking! EPIC FAIL! And it would have been a good album if it actually had good songs on it.
-Double-track failure -Chris Martin's voice is just annoying -Trying so hard to emulate U2 -HORRIBLE LYRICS. Seriously, those lyrics are so bad, it's not even funny. Go listen to 42, it's horrid! and VLV is just one long cliche. Someone already mentioned the silly "If you like me come on, let me know" line. Really, Chris Martin can write good lyrics (see: AROBTTH) but the songs on VLV are just flat out embarrassing
What Supersonic sees in that album is beyond me

It's an average album but below Coldplay's other albums.

I voted good because nothing could look bad after X&Y.... good lord. I've enjoyed Viva La Vida quite a lot. A nice album, but it's a little bit flat in the middle.

X&Y is Coldplay's Heathen Chemistry, an album with good songs and very bad songs, and VLV has just good singles and some nice songs; but I think there's not a song in it that can be similar to Fix You, Clocks, The Scientist or Yellow.

Pretty good offering from what is a rather average over-hyped band

the only songs i really like are violet hill, death and all his friends and lovers in japan. Life in technicolor 2 is good but it missed the album which is a shame cos its probably one of their best songs ever.

it's a good album. just because some songs are on the radio all the time, a couple of lyrics are weak and not every single song is a classic doesn't mean it's bad or average. I wanted to hate this album. I hated X&Y and before this album was released I wanted it to be an epic failure (maybe I was being childish like some board member still are) but I'm happy they tried something different. Some songs are just amazing, some are definitely subpar but the album as a whole is good.

Mogly that's a pretty fair assessment. I have to agree with you, except that I DIDN'T want to see them fail. Haha

violet hill and viva la vida are great songs everything is else shit Violet Hills really irritates the hell out of me, and I still hold the belief that VLV is one long cliche and that type of song has been done so many times before. I do like Cemeteries of London and the first half of Death and all His Friends, but that's really it.

(sorry revolver ). cause hc is unlistenable. i tried listening to it recently and had to turn it off after just 20 seconds into "the hindu times."

I could listen to it all day except for two songs.

I think that VLV is for Coldplay what The Unforgetable Fire was for U2.

Parachutes was brilliant. They're trying to be too big now. Liked their simpler stuff.
