Will Oasis finally be forced to change their setlist for the China appearance ? Surely lyrics like "She's into Alka Seltzer, She sniffs it through a cane on a supersonic train" won't make it past their censors read on : British rock band Oasis to play first China concerts in Beijing, Shanghai in April — British rock band Oasis will play their first China concerts in Beijing and Shanghai in early April, the musicians announced on their Web site. The shows will take place April 3 at Beijing's Capital Arena and April 5 at the Shanghai Grand Stage as part of a world tour promoting their latest release, "Dig Out Your Soul." The band will also play a previously announced show in Hong Kong on April 7.......... Oasis is one of a growing number of Western musical acts traveling to China, following the Rolling Stones and Elton John. Growing exposure to foreign tastes has created fans among middle-class Chinese, although audiences at such concerts tend to be drawn heavily from China's large expatriate population.
China closely regulates live performances, even more so since Icelandic singer Bjork embarrassed authorities by shouting "Tibet!" at the end of a Shanghai concert last year.
Bands must submit set lists beforehand, and the Rolling Stones were asked not to play several songs with suggestive lyrics during their 2006 China debut, including "Brown Sugar," ''Honky Tonk Woman," ''Beast of Burden" and "Let's Spend the Night Together."
Last year, Harry Connick Jr. had to make last-minute changes to his show in Shanghai because an old song list was mistakenly submitted to Chinese authorities to secure the performance permit for the concert. Authorities insisted he play the songs on the original list, even though his band didn't have the music for them.

Live Forever has a positive, clean, politically-neutral message......... As does Acquiesce.

You know what I would do if I was Noel? Put facts on the big screen instead of pictures/live video of things that the Chinese censor, such as the Tienanmen Square Massacre.
That government is so fucked up.

haha... yeah well, just for the record, whenever the Oasis wembley gig(2008) is shown on Mtv Hits/Mtv2/Mtv U they mute certain lyrics(like the ones in supersonic) i found that hilarious. Fortunately now that the concert has been airing on Palladia(HD) they don't bleep anything out.

You can't mention anything that could be even remotely considered drug related (The most ridiculous case of this was the weezer song Hash Pipe which they either referred to as H*** Pipe or just Pipe depending on when it came on. and was muted every time he said Hash Pipe)

I think anyone(Chinese or not) can say anything(Tienanmen Square Massacre, Tibet, whatever), but nobody can say they know what really happened All governments have their position. But I leave it like that, people wouldn't have a chance to afford the tickets if the government is so fuck. One thing I can tell is most people here are living in big families, they are obedient to the elders and firm with children, more conservative than you think. But still shame if band are forced to change the setlist. BTW Oasis record sale is always not bad in Mainland China, maybe tens of thousands. But it is not like the ordinary record, Sony Asia make a special called 'introduce edition'. It seems these don't count in the world chart? Don't know too much as I bought UK version in Hong Kong). About the concerts, from what I have heard , thousand tickets of the most expensive seats of Shang Hai show which cost $234 were sold out at the first day.

Our country is used to bias and misunderstandings these days. At least the chinese government encourages us to learn english, which makes we know you better than you know us, probably.

hell, the chinese government will probably ban the playing of "fuckin' in the bushes" because of the title i see them censoring, by song title and/or lyrics... over 3/4 the set list. i would love to see columbia in the set list again, though

hell, the chinese government will probably ban the playing of "fuckin' in the bushes" because of the title And not because the phrase can be heard a number of times during the song itself?

Kids running around *peep* and *peep* in the bushes Kids running around *peep* and *peep* in the bushes To be honest, Liam censors himself by moreless shouting words at the moment up to a point where you (if you would not know the lyrics) could not understand what he's singing "She's into Alka Seltzer, She sniffs it through a CAN__E!!'' ''You might as well do the W__H__ITEEE L_IN_EHH''

^funny
As lazy oasis are nowadays, they'll probably not replace the songs but will play a shortened setlist instead...
I only wish Liam and Noel go on stage completely drunk and shout stuff like Bjork did and even worse.
And I don't think they could play Whatever like someone mentioned above because of its lyrics: "You'r freeeee to say whatever you, whatever you like if its wrong or right it's alright"
