I just got home from the show... and fuck me was it good.
First i gotta say hey to everyone who went to the meet up beforehand. I was great meetin all of you.
But Liam sounded great all night, Noel, Gem and Andy were all there usual awesome self. Liam and Noel didn't talk to the crowd too much, but when they did everything they said went over great. I'd love to write a better review (sorry) but i gotta wake up in a few hours to drive to Detroi to see em again! peace everyone.

I was at this show as well. Simply fantastic. I hope it's not a whole three years again before I can see them return to Chicago.

It was absolutely huge! I was a tad bit worried after the terrible, and obscenely loud Ryan Adams set. But all my worries were quickly put to rest. It was great! Liam was on form, the band was in to it, and the gig was just about perfect, except for Ryan Adams.

Great show. Had front row seats directly in front of Noel. Unfortunately did not get the tambourine as a guy 4-5 people down from me did. Got one of Noel's guitar picks though. Agree with the guy earlier that the sound for Ryan Adams was a bit too loud, but for the Oasis set. I would have to say the Security was tight, but really you have to with some of the drunks and mooks that were there. I was getting annoyed with the people who would sneak into the first row, that didnt belong there when we all paid extra money on ticketmaster auctions for those seats. A few highlights: -Noel spotting a 10 year old behind us and dedicated Masterplan to her. He asked if her parents couldnt find a babysitter. I heard the people talking and it was actually her birthday. He then said that girl will be buying a lot of Oasis stuff through her years. -People making song requests. Why be that annoying guy? You know the person who yells out Aquiesce the whole show, despite them not going to change the setlist for you. That was quite annoying. Noel finally responded to this mook and said we don't take requests and that he didn't spend all this time on the setlist to throw it out the window. Someone requested Whatever to Liam and he say "no fucking chance". If you are going to make a request least making it an interesting one like "Record Machine" or "Purple Parrellagram". -Another annoying thing is people that act like and say they are the biggest Oasis fans to others at shows to seem cool. This was on hand with the mooks behind us. Heard them talking and the girl had stated she is a huge fan and has been following them since 1994 (of course to sound cool). Then throughout the conversation she said that she has never seen them though and had to come to this one since they havent visited the states in over 10 years. My wife and I looked at each other and laughed. Cmon. Then throughout the concert would only sing stuff off the first two albums, she didnt even know lyla. The also acted as if they were at Woodstock with their hypnotic dance throughout the show. I hope they were on something. -Merchandise was a bit expensive, but it seemed a lot of people were buying shirts and programs. -Ryan Adams was spot on, didnt know he sung some of the songs he did. Pretty good. Redwalls might have been better, but they are in the UK right now. Again overall great show. Here are some pics.

Show was nothing short of AMAZING. My mother and I agree it was probably the best concert we have ever been to. There seemed to be energy throughout the arena for nearly EVERY song. I had no idea Americans were so good at Don't Look Back in Anger.....

I was there, not as good of seats as you guys though. I thought Ryan Adams was very boring, and I actually preferred the Dylan-esque first act over him. I'd never been to an Oasis show before, and judging by some of the comments written on these boards, I was expecting terrible vocals, and an overall uninterested band. Neither of these expectations seemed true to me. I'm sure Liam's vocals were a bit covered by all the guitars and noise, but he sounded great from where I stood. The band also seemed "into it", especially Liam in the beginning, unloading some f-bombs here and there into the lyrics. The crowd was also very welcoming to the band, displaying multiple flags of England. The show was definitely better than I expected, although I wish I could have seem them a few years earlier with my favorite band, The Redwalls, opening for them.

Show was a 9.5/10 for me. I'm very pleased. I also had damn good seats so that made it even better.
Met up with some members before the gig; it was a real pleasure - good people. Hopefully you guys had as much fun at the gig as I did, my larynx is shot!
Show review.
I sat down right when Ryan Adams went on, which I insisted on as I'm almost as much of RA fan as Oasis - especially last couple years as his albums just keep getting better IMO. Anyway, part of the beauty of him and his band the Cardinals is that they are a freewheeling band capable of playing any of his songs out of his HUGE reportoire at the drop of a hat, however in this small 1-hour set he had a tight set list and wan't able to, so we got VERY sped up versions of songs, which detracted. Still his band is awesome. I was admittedly disappointed with him over-extending some of the jams which seemed to take away time he could have used to play more songs. Like guitar-masturbation almost, gratuitous. His voice was fucking amazing though and his band is TOP-notch.
15 minute break and we got 'Fuckin' in the Bushes'? I think - can't remember I was buzzed as hell by that point. Anway, as the band strolls out, the crowd erupted and all stood to their feet - which was good, as usually these crowds are a bunch of beard-strokers. First Song: ROCK n' ROLL STAR - familiar guitar bent note to open the song, a kickstart on the drums, and right into the full throttle rock n' fooking roll. As soon as the first lyrics were uttered, '...I live me life in the soooon-sheeee-innne...' I was singing and on my feet. Surprisingly, even the people around me were all standing - last show I was at NO ONE stood up, so I was definitely pleased. At least my singing at the top of my lungs, and air guitar playing went somewhat more inconspicuous that way. Think we got 'Morning Glory' next - but can't remember. Either way, I've been one of the biggest critics on Liam's voice, acknowledging his Kermit voice, and the quick shouts, and all that, BUT I was very happy and surprised as to me he sounded just great. Could be the live atmosphere, the music concealing it, or the 15 beers I had by the time they got on, but it was GREAT. Whoever is going to these last few gigs in America will be in for a treat. Saw them in 05' and he is MUCH better now than then. The crowd was great, and the band acknowledged it, and generally fed off it. You coud tell they did, and it wasn't them just doing the obligatory, 'Oh...[Cleveland, Charlotte, Bumble-fuck], you've been great, etc...etc.'. As Liam said at the end as he was applauding, 'Chicago, you've been a 'propa' audience. 'Fank you very mooch'...
Highlights:
Slide Away - just immensely moving. Nearly brought a tear to my eye. 'Don't Know, Don't Care...all I know is you can take me there...'. Fuck me. Never thought I'd hear that song played live, as it's been my favorite since I started listening to the band 14 years ago.
Morning Glory - I think this is where I lost my voice. "WEEEE--EEELLLLL!!'. I feel sorry for the girl in front of me as she may have lost her hearing.
Supersonic - this went down like an explosion. The crowd was REALLY into this one. I don't think people (other than forum members who knew the set beforehand) really expected them to play it. And that intro drum beat 'Boom - pop, Boom-Boom, pop...' got people jumping in anticipation for it.
Don't Look Back in Anger - Noel's new arrangement is tasteful, and if possible, even more moving in a crowd setting. It's more wistful, and did successfully bring a tear to my eye. Fucking beautiful.
Champagne Supernova - THE highlight for me. Wow. Otherworldy, being there hearing this.
TO all those going to these next gigs; have fun and realize you'll have to wait another 3 years, at least, to hear them and see them again.

Nice photos. The highlight of the gig for me was Morning Glory. It just sounded absolutely ferocious. My one complaint: I could have done without the creepy old guy in front of me doing air guitar.... I suppose that's what I get for buying tickets on Wednesday.

Oasis makes it clear: Nobody does it better Have you ever had the experience of getting a truly annoying but irresistibly catchy tune stuck inside your head? The popular name for this phenomenon is an “earworm.” Renowned neurologist Oliver Sacks (best known for being portrayed by Robin Williams in “Awakenings”) writes about it in his recent book Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain, and he summarized his thoughts in an interview with Wired magazine. Oasis returns from Britain with a new album and a new tour. “I can’t help wondering if the incidence of earworms and musical hallucinations is higher now, with background music in every public place,” Sacks said. “You can’t go to a restaurant without music, and they get offended if you ask them to turn it off ... The brain is very sensitive to music; you don’t have to attend to it to record it internally and be affected by it.” In other words, pity the poor soul who catches a snippet of Britney Spears' "Womanizer" and then can't get it out of his or her head. Thankfully, a friend of mine has come up with the perfect solution when such a song is stuck on auto-repeat in your brain: Just sing "Champagne Supernova" by Oasis instead. It's also insanely catchy, but as my buddy says, "it isn't quite sticky enough to get lodged in your head, so once you've gone through the refrain and the chorus, not only is the prior earworm gone, so too is 'Champagne Supernova.' "They must have had this in mind when they wrote it," he adds, "because what's a supernova, after all? It's a violent, intergalactic explosion that irradiates everything within its constellation. And champagne? Kills brain cells off faster than a Michael Crichton book. Put the two together and any other song doesn't stand a chance in your head. Then, just like its namesake, it disappears and all is right in the universe." I have been writing about Oasis since it first emerged on the music scene with "Definitely Maybe" in 1994, and if there's ever been a better explanation for the appeal, however fleeting, of the Brothers Gallagher's brand of Brit Pop, I haven't heard it. Superstars on the level of David Beckham at home in the U.K., Oasis won its biggest audience in the United States with "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?" in 1995, selling nearly 4 million copies. But as USA Today recently pointed out, that's seven times the combined total of the group's last three studio albums, including this year's "Dig Out Your Soul," the group's seventh album. Nevertheless, in their charmlessly boastful fashion, the Gallaghers maintain that they're the best rock band in the world. "I don't say that for the sake of saying it," vocalist Liam said. "There are other good bands. They're just not as good as Oasis." In other interviews, Liam has been busy trying to drum up a feud with Coldplay to match its old rivalry with Blur -- "I don't give a s--- about Coldplay. We are the coolest band and we are the best f-----g band. We are the most important band. We may not be the biggest band in America, but who would want that?" he told the India Times -- while his equally quotable songwriting brother Noel confessed to the BBC that he "doesn't remember" anything that took place between 1994 and 1998, the years that yielded the band's best music, but that, nevertheless, narcotics never affected him "mentally or physically," he just took them because it was "f-----g brilliant." Oh, those boys. The fact is, no matter what they say, legions of their fans agree that Oasis cannot be topped. Go ahead: Dare to suggest that "Dig Out Your Soul" not only finds the band once again attempting to rewrite the droning psychedelic pop of the Beatles' "Revolver" as a series of sing-along soccer chants, but does so with less energy and more disappointing results than previous efforts (as I did in my review of the disc). Or note that, in concert, Liam's moping, enervated presence and the decided lack of charisma on the part of the rest of the band -- which is now completed by guitarist Gem Archer, bassist Andy Bell and drummer Chris Sharrock, who recently replaced Zak Starkey -- means you might as well stay home and listen to the recordings (as I've contended almost every time I've reviewed the group). It doesn't matter: The Oasis fans stand by their band. The fact is, at least a few times during every Oasis gig -- say, during "Cigarettes and Alcohol," "Wonderwall" or "Champagne Supernova" -- you'll find yourself irresistibly drawn in and inevitably singing along. The only questions are: Will you give any of them a second thought as soon as the last chord rings out? And is that really all it takes to be the best rock band in the world? www.suntimes.com/entertainment/music/poprock/1326769,WKP-News-live12.article
