unfortunately it seems like they'll be setting the record for BIGGEST DROP on the billboard 200 albums chart, from #5 in week one to way past 50 in week 2, THEY're NOT EVEN ON THE LIST!! lol damn... IOT can't come soon enough. www.hitsdailydouble.com/sales/salescht.cgi

When does outta time hit the airwaves? i don't really know, "the shock" is still being played constantly on MTV(hits) so .... IOT hitting the airwaves soon is crucial for the success of the album.

When they come back and tour it will sell again.
Yes they need a big hit single. Not sure IOT is it though.
Maybe being on guitar hero will help.

In about 13 months it will be 2010. Oasis was huge in the U.S. in 95-96. Most U.S. bands that were around then are either gone or barely selling except maybe Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters and some Classic Rock bands.
I get told how great other bands are all the time and I might listen to a song or two but I don't necessarily run out and buy the album. I doubt very few people who have not been buying the past Oasis cd's are buying this one.
Just that simple.

I believe NIN had a similar drop with one of their albums a few years ago.

Wow...that is pretty bad. Speaking of mid 90s bands, I think Pearl Jam sells pretty awful too. Chili Peppers are about the only ones that still have big sales/interest. I am disappointed though because this album is really good. But people don't buy CDs anymore, y'know?

People still buy CD's. just ask T.I., Lil Wayne, Anyone from Disney Channel, Linkin Park, Coldplay or even Kenny Chesney, who sold almost 200 thousand copies this week! that whole thing is just an excuse, they should've promoted the album harder at least here in the U.S. Everyone knew they'd do great in the UK. dropping some cash to MTV so that they put their video into heavy rotation, making a couple of appearances on Letterman or Conan like thay used to do back in the day(YOU KNOW WHEN THEY USED TO SELL LOTS OF RECORDS) would've also helped. How about actually touring the states?(major cities) not just a one nighter @ Seattle, which in case some of you don't know, no one here even considers them part of the U.S. lol Washington state is just way too up there. All of that would've helped sales a whole LOT.

Maybe its a bold statement - but maybe they dont really care about being number one in the US? I mean - they dont even try to promote any harder, as you say. They´ve earned shitloads of money, the still do, they have had a fair amount of hit-singles, they tour all over the world. It seems like they´re happy just the way things are. T.I and Lil Wayne may be heroes today, but are forgotten tomorrow - Oasis are legends forever!

Face it guys, the USA does not like Oasis. They consider them a nostalgic act, whatever the hell that means.
Oasis surprised me personally when they landed the number 5 spot on the Billboard chart. That's as far as they'll go. What did you guys expect, a rise to number 1?
I love Oasis, and I wish they could conquer America, but what can I say? Americans have a shitty taste in music.

Americans have a shitty taste in music. actually YES, i thought they had an outside shot at the number 1 spot, IT WAS DOABLE! There were no real "top" bands or single artists releasing any new material that week. It was just OASIS and Rise Against(WHO? i know right...) but they got outsold by T.I., Rise Against, Metallica and even Jennifer Hudson, that was unacceptable! if they had put in the effort they COULD have pulled it off, or at least charted at #2 behind T.I. who eventhough was on his second week, he's a hip hop/rap act, and that's what selling massively now adays. i think DOYS SHOULD have sold at least 100k copies, which would have landed them the second spot, but they only got half of that. as for the "#5 is good" argument, please stop it! Keane's new album debuted @ no 4 this week, selling less albums, that doesn't mean shit, unless you outsold everyone, it doesn't really matter what position you entered the chart at.

All of that would've helped sales a whole LOT. People still buy records but not as many as they used to. I mean look the biggest selling record in America this year has only solf 2 million (Lil Wayne) 3 years ago the biggest selling record sold 8 million in the US. Only about 10 artists have sold over 1 million records this year in America. Record sales are falling, consider that 3 years ago the biggest selling record worldwide was 12 million, last year it was 6.5 million, this year so far it's 5.5 million. Considering Oasis are not very popular in America, you can't expect them to get anywhere near 2 million. If they went over and did mass promotion, i.e loads of shows radio interviews, basically at least 6 months hard promo they could increase their profile and sales.

Lil Wayne is a marketing sham, they're spending like 10 million to put him all over the streets, it's ridiculous. That's the problem though, and that's what happened to Britney Spears. Thankfully he's not doing as great everywhere else. Here's his record sales:
RIAA: 2x Multi-Platinum U.S Sales: 2.5 Million W.W. Sales 3.8 Million
