Rubber Soul by the Beatles was a departure from their traditional rock n roll routes as it introduced 'mow town'. Can Oasis measure up to Rubber Soul which had such great tracks as Drive My Car or Say The Word? If Oasis can do this then they are underated. Remember that Oasis sounds like the beatles. They admire the Beatles but can they measure up to the Beatles? So far there is a man who puts down other muscians and doesn't stand for the average living person. Why doesn't he follow Lennons example and do more than just put people down? Lennon cared about the average struggling person who cannot fight the corporations and racial discrimmination. Noel is surfing on John Lennon and his music is garbage compared to Lennon and McCartney.

I think alot of new people come on this Oasis board expecting that we would defend Oasis against the Beatles in these kind of threads, but most people here will tip there hats to The Beatles over Oasis. Oasis is fucking great, but come on, The Beatles > Everyother rock band

People do not want to be lead these days by traditional commercial tripe. They want the hip hop . The hindi are history. Lennon was a fool but he actualy stood for principles. He should not have represented drugs though. Lennon is my hero and he should not have been shot by some christian lunatic. Screw religion. No religion has visibibly helped anyone apart from the illusion that they are freed from their sins when they confess to some priest. Thats crap as the priest has his own evil sins to hide. Lennon knew this. I loved his books. Thank you for reading.

The songs on DOYS are better than the songs on Rubber Soul. The songs on DOYS how ever are not better than the tunes on revolver but give me Bag It Up & TSOTL anyday over Drive My Car and The Word.

Rubber Soul was about the Beatles touching on the soul of the sixties. It was a brilliant album. The supremes were doing fine. They were rivals to the white pop groups of that era. Listen to Rubber Soul and you will understand that it was black. It was brilliant.

Listen to Rubber Soul and you will understand that it was black. It was brilliant. Rubber Soul was brilliant, but it had nothing to do with Motown. It was actually more about bringing Bob Dylan's influence and the influence of folk music into their songwriting.

NO f#cking chance in hell. End of story.
Although there are songs of Oasis that do come close to the Beatles heights (Live Forever, Champagne Supernova, etc..)
But when you consider artistic merits, consistent quality, lyrical content, and continuing to push boundaries, there is no comparision. End of story.
The Beatles took Rock and Roll to boundaries not even imagined back then. And people are still ripping them off and attempting to come up with ideas rooted in stuff they were doing 40 years ago!!!

I believe that you are all right because no one can be wrong when inspired by lyrics and music. That is my subjective opinion. Some people loved Rod Steward in the early 80s. Music groups are like prostitutes because they need to get laid.

If Rubber Soul wasn't by the Beatles, people wouldn't be saying this. People assume it's amazing just because it's got The Beatles name to it. Be a bit more open minded for once.

Pretty surreal thread. I don't think anyone can argue that Oasis' contribution to music or popular culture comes anywhere near the Beatles. But personally, Oasis have had much more of an impact on my life and I'd rather listen to their music any day of the week. In fact, I'd rather listen to the Kinks, the Smiths, the Jam, Bowie and any number of others to the Beatles. It's all a matter of personal preference.

Sometimes people hear the term "Beatles" and automatically say they're greatest of all time purely because of their widespread popularity, and more simply because they are fans of theirs. I'm not saying that DOYS is better than Rubber Soul or vice-versa, but it is at the end of the day all a matter of preference. I know if i was stranded on an island with and got to have one album, it probably wouldn't be a beatles album.

woah woah boys and girls. The Beatles made a name for themselves. People say Rubber Soul is a fucking colosal album because it is! The Beatles made great music. Music so good its still relevant today. Hell my senior class song was "In My Life"
A Name is a name. The Beatles put out music and it was reviewd just as any other artists is. The Beatles didnt release an album and everyone just love it becasue it was The Beatles. It was good music, thats what kept them going. THATS why they are the biggest act in this worlds history. Give credit where it is do
