No, you sir, haven't nailed it on the head.
The thing with DM and WTSMG is that people romanticize it. Disgy's Dinner isn't deemed decent because it's being compared to the classics on DM, but rather because no one will slate DM and will find reason to like every song on it.
Fact is, if Digsy's Dinner was on HC, you lot would be bitching about it.
DOYS is a fantastic album, and the fact is that if DOYS followed WTS instead of BHN, the Oasis legacy would be even bigger.
Oh, and I've never seen anyone complain about POTQ - except for a few people claiming it's dad rock (wrongly). POTQ is one of Noel's best ever songs.....
Bag It Up, The Turning, Rapture, Outta Time, Shock of the Lightning, and Falling Down are all epic High Horse, Nature of Reality (this one's grown on me), TBWTL are decently good Soldier On, Ain't Got Nothing are weak
6 monumental songs, 3 decent songs, and 2 weak songs - that's a pretty damn good break down, if you ask me - and follows the pattern of DM/WTSMG breakdown too - IF YOU'RE BEING HONEST when ranking the songs on those first 2 albums....

Well, you and I are not seeing eye-to-eye, Live4evr.
DM and MG did not have "weak tracks" in the sense that they are terrible. Digsy's Dinner, IMO is a great tune and I love it. It's catchy, it's just the right length, it's well-produced, and it fits the flow of the album.
Conversely, TNOR is a pile of rubbish and is the antithesis of the former.
This same comparison is true of MG with DBTT or whatever.
And about is DOYS came out in 1997. Whatever. That's the most retarded argument I've ever heard. This album is influenced by the changes that came to rock and alternative in the past 3 or 4 years. It's absurd to think that this could have happened at any other time. That and Andy, Gem, and Liam would not be writing.
I'm tired of people comparing this to other albums. It's not LIKE any other Oasis album. That's one of the reasons I dig it so much. It's not a fantastic album, so it's very new and exciting. However, the QUALITY of tunes is lesser than any other Oasis album to date.
HC is a brilliant album, and I will likewise defend DBTT
I don't caere if you've listened to DOYS 450 times already. It's just that it's TOO soon to be objective. You need to move on a bit. Wait and see
