There was time when a ticket to an Oasis gig was an all-access pass to a world of possibilities. After all, one of the Gallagher brothers might berate the audience, or quit the band, or maybe even assault a band mate with a tambourine. And to think those were the good old days. It’s not that the Gallagher brother haven’t flirted with greatness – they have – but no matter how many hits a band has, and no matter how many albums it sells, Oasis is proof that the ups and downs that come with battling booze, drugs and each other just isn’t conducive to being consistent. Exhibit A: Oasis’ gig Wednesday night at GM Place. With a crowd barely big enough to fill half the stadium, Noel and Liam’s greatest feat was managing to play an entire set without once acknowledging each other. These two are so disconnected they won’t even risk glancing in each other’s direction, in fear of accidental eye contact. The only thing worse is Liam’s disconnect from the audience, which often borders on outright apathy. When not singing directly into his mike, Liam spent most of the night with his back to the crowd, staring at the large LED screens, occasionally sipping his water at the drum kit or just sauntering around on stage wasting time until his whiney vocals were once again required. The four other players in Oasis – really, who knows who they are, since more members have left this group since Quitters Anonymous meetings were permanently suspended – might as well be digging graves and, by the vacant looks on their collective faces, punching a clock just might bring them more joy. But perhaps that’s what happens when you’re just the hired help and your two bosses are the much-maligned brothers Gallagher. Perhaps, like the audience, the band is just biding its time until either Liam or Noel goes berserk and punches one of the crew. And honestly, that might have been kind of cool to see. After all, it would have been the most exciting thing they’ve done in years. By GRAEME MCRANOR, 24 HOURS vancouver.24hrs.ca/Entertainment/2008/08/28/6599596.html

Why do all online journalists come across like they're in dire need of a beating?
Smarmy, clichéd, arrogant assholes.

im sure I'll get a lot of shit for this... but I can kinda see how a non-Oasis fan wouldn't be very impressed by the concert.
1. It's always kinda lame to go to a concert that's not even close to full. I mean, I wouldnt enjoy a concert that was packed to maximum capacity prolly... but when its only about 50% full its just not as energetic and fun. 2. The band pretty much doesn't interact with each other at all during the set, they just kinda stand there and do their thing. For fans listening intently to the music, thats fine w/ them, but to casual listeners and other people at the concert, it's a bit boring if the band doesnt put on a show. 3. None of the band really interacts w/ the audience that much, which is part of the reason some people enjoy live shows so much. Hell Liam almost pretends like noones even there sometimes. 4. Although we're happy Liam's voice isnt terrible, its still not particularly good. I know that if I hadnt heard alot of the bands songs, I wouldnt be particularly impressed by Liam's live voice. i'd prolly just assume he was an average singer. 5. Once again, the band just stands there playing their instruments. To anyone who isnt in love w/ the music, this would be incredibly boring to watch.
Im not saying I necessarily agree w/ her points, Im just saying that I could see why a non-Oasis fan wouldnt be impressed by their live show.

so this guy has reviewed how much noel and liam talk to each other, and heres me thinking that you went to a gig to see a music show not stand up comedy. Who gives a shit if Noel and Liam don't talk on stage!
This guy is probably just an asshole who obvously has something against Oasis and must have forgotten to listen to the MUSIC and spent far to long watching liam and Noel. This must have been a reason why he forgot to remember the rest of band.
Note how he didn't once mention how good / bad the songs were that night... as far as i know last night they were great!
oh how we love the media... Oasis haters rejoice!

God knows if someone doesn't think they put on a good show they must be "oasis haters".
Funny, but the Vancouver Sun had largely the same take.
They must really hate Oasis too.

Let's be honest, does anyone who doesnt own all 6 of their LP's know another members name besides Noel and Liam?
Some people here need to get a grip more desperately than this reviewer. Just becasue Oasis has a way of doing things doesn't mean that they're absolved from a critique.
Sorry, but I don' think BOTH of these reviewers (who largely had the same beefs) had an axe to grind with Oasis.
Quite honestly, they ARE a boring fucking band to see live if you're not living for every song. Their shows offer a virtual ZERO visual appeal, and like it or not, most peope count that significantly in the total experience.

Us Oasis fans need to take a step back sometimes and consider what "normal" or casual fans think of some of this shit. T be really honest, a lot of my friends who I've turned onto the band have walked away froma couple of their shows pretty fucking disappointed to be honest.
1. Liams a walking fucking vocal question mark every night.
2. Virtually no interaction whatsoever wth fans who paid 50, 60, 70, or 80 bux a seat.
3. "Going through the motions" demeanor throughout the band.
What the fuck would you think if this was your first Oasis show? Like it or not American fans look for the "extra" ...I cant speak for the Canucks.
Seriously people, try to be a little more objective. I'm not saying they deserve a baselessly scalding review, but some of these are fair criticisms, harsh or not.
