Ok, so I've gotten use to the fact that this debacle is going to appear on DOYS in one form or the other, and, as I've mentioned before, it really has me a little timid. It's just difficult to imagine that they had nothing "better" to squeeze on there between the four of them than this. Please don't give me this "it just fit better" shit either. If it "fits" with the rest of the album, God help us. Not surprsingly, the few people who have claimed to have heard the album have ALL roundly said it has remained virtually unchanged from the demo and have subsequently staked it as the clunker of the record. Perhaps we can at least take solace in the "fact" that it sounds like there may not be anything WORSE on there. Right when I thought I couldn't be more down on the song, my new bash on the 2 minute fire drill is the pointless, monotonous yelling/screaming that starts jumping off around 1:30- like this tune needed any help in the wtf? department? This on top of benign lyrics, a migaine-like pounding of the skins that reeks of a 6 year old jam session, and the complete lack of any kind of substance to the song whatsoever. Dreadful. Friends, I'm just not sure how people are selling themselves on this "song". I'm as die-hard on anyone on this board, but you have to call a spade a spade- this is pretty grim stuff here. I guess I still have confidence in the balance of the album, I just was really hoping this thing would never see the light of day on a major release.

i agree. song is embarassing.. Yeah, embarrassing is a strong word, but if you were introducing someone to Oasis, would this song even make the top 100 tracks? Seriously. People busting wads over this tune really need to get a grip imho. It' only 2 minutes out of 50ish though, right?

The only person on here who has claimed to have access to the album, and that it's the same song is lorddon'tnoelmenow... i did believe, but i'm starting to think it's less likely The only person who has certainly heard it, and made a legitimate review is edith bowman... and she said none of the leaked songs are on the record. I'm gonna believe her until we get some word from the band, which probably won't be long.

song is fine, move on, no need for another thread about it. Actually thought about that very notion, before laying out this thread. Guess it goes to show how fucked over I am by it. I really thought this LP would near Oasis perfection. The thread title is pretty obvious though, so I think people can decide in 3 seconds whether or not they want to participate, partner.

2 schools of thought on that thing from the beginning: 1. she's a huge fan, actually HEARD the leaked tracks, and is 100% certain they're not on there or 2. She's a "media-type" who's in-depth knowledge of the band and their entire song catalogue is 50/50 at best and may not really know for sure...especially if they tweaked it (or any of them for that matter) a bit. good point though- it is the only "real" critique we have as of yet. Here's to hope.

i disagree, although i'm not a big fan of the song and would prefer it not to be on the album, i still think a cleaned up version of it will sound ok... i don't think it'll be a major let down to the album and will hold its own... but again would prefer a new song

Really, that's all i'm saying I guess. It's not a pair of cement shoes as far as the records concerned on the whole (jesus, look what DM got by with), but it just irks me a bit.

U sound like u one of those who think wonderwall is the best song. If u dont like oasis having a rough rock'n'roll song which 100% represent how liam is, then skip the song and listen to coldplay instead.

Are you out of your mind? Colombia, Rock N Roll Star, BringIOD, Morning Glory, DKWIM, MBM, THT, HIABP, TUTS, MOS are amongst my fave oasis tunes, and I love TSOL so far, so brilliant point. It's called a bit of critical honesty...go ahead and paint it any which way you want.

it's not that bad. a song like idler's dream is much worse. no way man, idler's dream si fantastic. great vocals, i love the minimal arrangement on it. if aint got nothing is the said leaked demo reworked i'm praying they invested a whole lotta work in that song cos in it's known form it's not even b-side material...kinda like quiet ones. on the other hand, why would e bowman lie? she knows the leaks she 's heard the album. kind of a disconnect to me. i'm not really worried though..i'm expecting a properly produced end result.
