No one ever answered my one question why did Alan leave. I thought it was a medical thing. Word is that he leaked the SOTSOG demos. And then he leaked the HC sessions, which was the final blow to his career. Wow, was my post prescient...

All this business with drummers, what's going on! First Paul Weller ditches long-term drummer Steve White (Alan's brother) after 25 years!! And now Noel sacking Zak. I don't think there's any chance Alan will rejoin Oasis, maybe Steve should join them again for a while, I mean, Alan and Steve do share similiar styles of playing, which is why he would be suited well. All the fans seem to be aiming for Terry Kirkbride to replace Zak, but I've never heard him actually drum properly, the only examples of his playing is on Mucky Fingers (which isn't all that impressive) and with only a snare and tambourine on the STC tour.
Please remember though that there is no official conformation that Zak is definitely through with the band, guess we'll have to wait and see...

If I was in Oasis, I'd pay him double to stay and do Lord Dont Slow Down's rendition of Rock and Roll star!

if true, this is terrible news. he brought the power back to the band. i'm sure terry would do a great job as well, but zak was just phenomenal with them.

I think Zak was/is a great drummer for Oasis, especially on songs like Rock 'n' Roll Star and the likes. Would be really sad to see him go.

Lord Don't Slow Me Down sounds like Zak's drumming to me. Can anyone officially confirm?

Really? Limiting is actually a more extreme version of compression (ratios consistently at 20:1 versus 3:1, 5:1, 3:2, etc.) What you're talking about with certain frequencies being "clipped" is actually multi-band compression. Clipped however, refers to going above 0db which means two different things depending on if you're in the analog or digital world dBu versus dBFS). Of course than we get into hard knee and soft knee, opto and electro, etc. etc...Wall of sound is used to describe multiple instrument layerings rather than the compression. That is, using 15 guitars, drums, bass, electric pianos and a full orchestra would be a "Wall of Sound" (as made famous by Phil Spector and subsequently, Brian Wilson)...A heavily compressed (i.e., limiting) recording is simply a heavily compressed recording. Many would argue that the extreme use of compression at the mastering stage has robbed music of it's dynamic quality. In some senses, more dynamic range wouldn't be a terrible thing on some of the Oasis "stompers" if you ask me...
