What has the long stint in the US, and the use of an American Producer, and American studios impacted on the "Oasis" sound? The last album had one the most English sounding songs is Oasis history (TIOBI) but that was completely recorded at Noel's studio in the UK. So will the latest batch of songs have an American slant? Why was WTSMG so successful in the US, why did those songs have an impact on Americans, but later songs fail to. Would TIOBI been a US hit single, or would Americans just "not get it" (I don't want to sound patronizing to our US friends). Good music, is just good music. Dave Sardy must be having some effect.

They really don't deserve Oasis. Don't worry Oasis will be fine, I think being out of Britain to mix the album (mine you it was recorded in Abbey Road) is good less distractions, more concentration on music.

My family come from New York, and Canada (though I was born in the UK) and I keep having a uphill battle telling people about Oasis. I know I'm right, history will prove me right. But, it is like banging my head against a brick wall. As I said in another post, like Noel I still want a US number 1 album, and was just wandering if Oasis have to change their sound to achieve it.

I use to feel this way. People thought I was crazy for being so much into this band. As Jenny wrote, americans are more into Top 40 and thought why would I be into this band that to them was just like another hit band in the same breath of Third Eye Blind, Candlebox or a collective soul. You know, the type they package together in those 90's compilations for "grunge/alternative" crap they peddle on tv.
So people like the song and move on. I say, EFF those people and they don't get it, won't ever get it and it makes it easier for me to get tickets to see thier small more intimate shows in the US. It is still quite funny that people give me that look when I tell them I am going to take a couple of days off to go see a show and they ask who, I say Oasis. They're "who? You meant that band from the 90's?"
With that being the environment in the US, I don't think Oasis will be affected by thier stay. If anything, it allows them to be isolated from the UK media/pressure. They might as well be at a recording studio on a deserted island.

Just trying to spark Internet forum debate, there is very little to do till the album comes out. Just repeating, that I know that a number 1 US album is Noel's last goal. Why is that? The USA is the biggest music market in the world, with the EU, Japan, and the UK following.
Why do we get excited when Oasis are placed on a US play list, or they appear on a radio/TV show like Letterman/Leno, and why do people not living in the US vote on US radio stations to keep Oasis on the top 5 play list. We still care what America thinks, even though we hate to admit it.

Them being in LA has nothign to do with what influ. it's gonna have on the lp. They want Sardy to do it. Im guessing he's fully commited out here with other projects that for him to go on to England just wouldnt be in the cards. So the lads have to come to him. my breakfast awaits.....

You meant that band from the 90's?" Same experience, went to see my sister on the Upper East Side (not the expensive side) in New York, when my real reason was to see Oasis at The Garden. She gave me a right bollocking for wasting money, and that I should see Oasis in the UK. I told her that she was the real reason I was in the US, she said "the fuck I am!!!" ;D I still love my sister more than Oasis....well just. I like a "Full English Breakfast" Heart disease here I come.....

The last album was not completely recorded at Noel's studios. At least 3 songs were recorded in LA and the album was mixed there. In regards to this album, the majority was recorded at Abbey Road but I'd imagine they did a significant amount of overdubbing when they got to LA. I'd imagine that the album is being mixed on a board made in the UK and unless Noel + Gem have recently ditched their Vox and Marshall rigs to exclusively use Fender, I wouldn't be too concerned about it sounding "American".

omg ...and we're discussing on a US forum...the band is doomed and I'm not even daring asking what the Webmaster is... (Word is that he's a Mariah Carey closet fan ) Jiliam's answer evoking other commitments that Dave Sardy might have makes sense then again there are prob many different reasons for them to mix in LA maybe they want to be quiet, far from trash UK press I don't see them ever sounding american anyway
