Agree. in a topic in the 'rock n roll star' section someone dismissed me for saying the Libertines were the last great band... the Artic Monkeys are ok, but the Libertines had the talent and potential to truly rival Oasis. God bless. Never got people saying that about the Libertines, they were never that good, i only like 'Can't Stand Me Now' and thats it. Arctic Monkeys blow them out the water. Ok. God bless.

I could never really get into the Libertines. Not sure why. I've tried many times. I am however a big fan of British Sea Power. They put on a great live show.

They put on a great live show. the classic songs on the Libertines second album are easier to get in to, i.e. Can't Stand Me Now, Music When The Lights Go Out, What Katie Did and What Became of The Likely Lads but i think the first album is overall better. God bless.

I remember when the Arctic Monkeys used to be good. I'll never forget the crushing disappointment that I felt listening to that 2nd album for the first time

Hated it on release day. Gave it many chances since. Still crap. But to each his own I guess.

lol, for me FWN is their best album, while I found their debut to be vastly overrated, the last 2 albums were just Ok IMO.

What you going on about you fucking mong, that's Alex Turner in the picture, everyone should already know who he is and if their not too clever then it even says the name of the band in the corner of the picture. But i must say you don't strike me as the sharpest tool in the box, nevermind.

The idea that Arctic Monkeys are anything close to the equal of Oasis, or indeed better than The Libertines, is laughable. Right place, right time.

All this talk on Shout It Loud made me listen to it a lot last night and what a tune it is! Only a b-side from the Heathen Chemistry-era, one of Oasis's most criticised few years of music. Arctic Monkeys aren't even close to Oasis imo, a lot of Oasis b-sides are superior to Monkeys' album tracks, that's not to say they aren't good though, they have some brilliant songs and a great songwriter in Alex Turner, just not as great as Oasis' main songwriter.

I just find it laughable that this thread has been going since 2008! Nowhere near the level of oasis and never will be.

A lot of Oasis b-sides are superior to some Oasis album tracks also though, for me its not about them being better than Oasis or even equal to them, its about Oasis being out of the picture and who else is good enough to be labelled as their successor, Arctic Monkeys have only made 4 albums so far and they've all debuted at no.1, they even stole Oasis's fast selling debut of all time record aswell, people may not like 'em for whatever reasons, but plenty of others obviously do, they are a top band. Oasis rule we all know that, but Arctic Monkeys are fucking great also IMO, only band since Oasis where i more or less like all of their songs.

Please don't judge a band's capabilities by their album sales or else in that case Justin Beiber and One Direction are the best musicians in the whole wide world.

I've always preferred Kasabian over the Arctic Monkeys. More my cup of tea so to speak. I dig their rock/electronic vibes. #Terminal5 #NewYorkCity #March2012
