This is something that really amazes me, how come nobody record it that gig... The most important gig... Somebody has it, somewhere, so strange actually no one has posted it in 5 years.

^^^^ you're right. obviously nobody has it and nobody knew. it would've been leaked if it had been recorded. maybe Noel recorded it and will release it in 2024 in teh Oasis Anthology, who knows...

I feel a bit out of the loop here saying this but why was this gig so important?

This concert is the most important gig ever played by Noel or Oasis. It was the debut and only performance of the song Stop the Clocks.

Yeah, this gig was indeed legendary! Wish I'd have been there! I think if there would've been some sort of recording from it, I think we'd heard about it by now.

"On March 3, 2007, Noel Gallagher has exclusively played the first chord of "Stop the Clocks" during his semi-acoustic show in Moscow, but then he said that he won't play the whole song yet."
is this true?

true. he just did it because a couple of fans kept screaming "Stop The Clocks" the entire show...
But there's no way the zanzibar gig was ever recorded, it's been too much time, things like that don't surface after 5 years... but don't worry, in worst scenario we'll finally hear it in august!

I agree with you. I think the same think goes for the Astoria gig in May 2005 when they played headshrinker. that gig has never come out either. What i would say tho is, remember the gig at the Borderline in 1994 that was during the video shoot for Ciggs & Alcohol. that came out years later. I agree with what others have said in this thread, nobody knew noel and gem were going to play so nobody recorded it. Just one other thing! Don't be too sure that STC is going to end up on the next album. Songs come and go and sometimes they just don't fit with what the band is currently doing. Although i'd like to hear it, i'd be surprised if it was on the album

I presume you are joking when you say it is the most important gig ever played by Noel or Oasis, yeah? (I hope so, anyway....) No, I stand by my statement. That gig created years worth of anticipation, rumors, and disappointment. I forgot to mention, this avatar I've been using for the past year is from Noel performing at that gig. I got it from the back cover of this bootleg.--

Well, I've read some opinions of the song. A guy from NME wrote that it was ha cross between Wonderwall and The Hindu Times, whilst some other guy said it sounded like a cross between Fade In/Out and Who Feels Love. He also wrote that it was a fairly melancholic affair, and described it as more soul, fairly mature and well structured. I'm so looking forward to this song! By the way, MrMonobrow have a whole information page dedicated to this song. The page can be found here: stoptheclocksinfo.blogspot.com/

No, I stand by my statement. That gig created years worth of anticipation, rumors, and disappointment. personally, i feel that you are totally overstating the importance of this gig!! again - the GIG didnt create the anticipation etc the SONG, and the way Noel bigged it up in interviews etc, did. in terms of "most important/legendary gig" by Noel/Oasis - what about when Noel saw them for the first time and then joined? Noel's first gig for Oasis? the first time Liam couldnt sing and Noel completed the set? the first acoustic set Noel did? first Glastonburty performance? Maine Road - a complete celebration of what had been achieved? Knebworth? i could go on....... i understand that you are looking forward to the song coming out (as i am, too), but i really do feel that you are overstating this massively!! there are many unreleased Noel songs that i would love to hear, this probably being the one i would most wish to hear, but there are quite a few others, as well.

Nah, this gig is stuff of legends now, and yeah, its important, the mystical Zanzibar gig where Stop the Clocks was played, a recording of it HAS to exist, Oasis is one of the most bootlegged bands of all time, no doubt there is a recording of it somewhere online.

It's important, it's legendary, but nowhere NEAR "the most important/legendary Oasis gig ever", which is what was said before.
