Oasis have given us so much. Fantastic songs and albums, which in turn leads to amazing nights out. Fantastic live gigs for those who have gone, and for those who watched at home on the released dvds.
Noel and Liam have given us great interviews, that never get boring. I could listen to Noel all day, and I don't know how many hours I spent on youtube watching and rewatching their interviews.
They have also given us pride and determination. I don't know any one else who feels this sense of connectedness and love for a band (other than Oasis). What's more they have also given their best - even in the drug fueled years. When Guigsy and Bonehead left, they got through it. When Noel or Liam walked off, no matter how many times, they stayed together. And here we are in 2008, 14 years after their debut, and we're speculating about their 7th album being as good/nearly as good as DM/MG years. What other band has remained that dedicated and committed? There's not many
What I'm getting at is that Oasis are a very special band. They could have packed it in years ago and lived a wealthy life with all their riches. But they keep going, as strong as ever.
Sadly, Oasis are coming to the end of their career. Maybe one more album at the 2008 release, maybe two if we're lucky. Truth is we dont know how long they have left. But Noel is getting old (well, we know he wont be doing this when he's 50 - so that gives him 10 years at most imo). And Liam is losing his voice (unless he works at getting back, it might just call the end to Oasis).
With that being said, I think we should all brainstorm ideas now and in the coming years to give back to Oasis.
Ok, we given them our time and dedication. Our money and our love. And sticking with them when times were rough. So yes, we don't OWE Oasis anything per sey. But when they call it a day, I really feel we as Oasis fans on this board and the worldover should come together and do something special.
Someone on here got people to make a 40th birthday card for Noel. I didn't contribute, but that's the type of thing i'm talking about - but on a bigger level, with more participants.
What do you all reckons?
*Most probably ignored this because of the length, but if you're reading this right now I commend you.
*If you disagree, thats fine. Say so and why. But dont criticize for the sake of it, or slag anyone off. I want people's real opinions on this, and I want a serious and mature discussion. Thank you
The money they sit at home and count is thanks enough. Go buy them flowers if it means that much to you.
Look, as i said, we dont owe them anything. We've given all the things i listed above to them, plus our love for them goes unsaid.
This isnt about money or whatever. If we do this, it's not because we feel we have to, but rather because we want to.
If celebrating Noel's 40th deserves action from us, then surely celebrating Oasis's overall career warrants something?
What makes it even more special, is this is an original idea. No one has ever done something on a big scale for a band before. Of course, if this idea does progress and happen, not many will partake. But surely 1,000+ people worldwide would. And even that small percentage of Oasis fans would still speak volumes and represent as a whole
It would just be something nice to do. And it would cement, for the last time, of what Oasis are all about: People.
Yes, the band members live in mansions, have several cars, and a shit load of money. But they are the most "down to earth" rockstars out there. I personally believe that Noel cares about us all - all of his fans. Can you say that about Chris Martin? Robbie Williams? Even Bono?
So why not give the band something special to celebrate all i said in my first post, to cement the connectedness between Oasis and the fans which has been so prevelant from day one, and to give Oasis the sending off they deserve?
Oasis will have performed between 15 and 20 years when they call it a day. Now it's our turn to perform.
I'm going to continue pitching my idea, until I see it's a lost cause. Let's keep this debate going....
You forgot about the things that he could say like I dont think that I like you anymore Well I found new feelings at the feeling store and I cant find you at our kissing place and I'm scared of those new pair of eyes you have

as well intended your idea seems, it is rather inappropriate when not aimed at boybands or smth similar. oasis are just not that type of act that give much fuck about cards etc..you'd get a "uh, nice un', laddie" and in the bin it'd go.
the most flattering compliment you can make to oasis is to buy as many records as you can afford (and/or to convince others to buy their albums) thus pumping up their bank account.

in my experience the best showing of appreciation is going to the gigs singing your heart out, not acting like an ass and just showing them how you just enjoy them ...they pretend to be so hard, but in the end that really touches them.
As for the theory "Oasis have one more album left"....that is a strange prediction being that Oasis have said they would like to follow in U2's footsteps..... I don't think Oasis is going anywhere in the near future.
themasterplanet: A Northern Soul by The Verve! My second favourite album by them. I love the atmosphere of it, it’s very dreamy and melancholic and dark. It holds many memories for me and I think that’s partly responsible for why I love it so much.

AllOrNothing: Up in the Sky sounds like the La's on steroids, especially that Liam Falsetto that I can almost picture Lee Mavers singing with all his big teeth showing

Bring It On Dan: I have so much shit on an old hard drive somewhere but I just cannot find it. Nothing 'out there' but probably 200 gigs or so. I can't remember the name of the site that had all the gigs listed and sources for loads of gigs next to it? I remember RKID 003.
