Somebody did a "DBTT 2.5 years later" and I thought doing a "HC 5.5 years later" might be good:
1) The Hindu Times: Classic Oasis opener. Sounds as if the band recorded it ten seconds before recoding "Lyla." Nice Indian-sounding guitar solo. 9/10
2) Force Of Nature: A completely unique song to Noel. One of those songs you either love or hate. Except for me, I think it's okay. 7/10
3) Hung In A Bad Place: Underrated Gem tune. His songs tend to have an edge that Noel and Liam don't have. One of his best. 9/10
4) Stop Crying Your Heart Out: Classic ballad. Noel is a fucking genius! 10/10
5) Songbird: Some of the best ideas are simple ones. Liam proves he's got something for songwriting. 9/10
6) Little By Little: If you can forgive the lyrics and cliche sound, it's a total classic. 10/10
7) A Quick Peep: Cool song to play when you first pick up a guitar to warm your fingers up. But to put it on an album?! 6/10
8) (Probably) All In The Mind: Not dripping with melody that you expect from Noel. If it were a B-side, everybody would be saying "It should have been on an album!" but on an album, "Eh, should've been a B-side or something." 8/10
9) She Is Love: See above except it indeed does have a sweet melody. 8/10
10) Born On A Different Cloud: Everybody seems to like it but me. 5/10
11) Better Man: Kind of a jam. Like "A Quick Peep," probably a lot more fun for Oasis than it is for us. 7/10
Album Overall: 8/10
I don't see how people can call this album a failure. If nothing else, think of it as the one of the greatest 4 song EPs (Hindu Times, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Songbird, Little By Little) of all time, with a bunch of noise in between.
And if you love "Born On A Different Cloud," which you probably do, then it's a 5 song EP.

This is by far the weakest Oasis record in my opinion, and I'm an over the top Oasis fan. There are no thrilling moments, and not one second that surprised me or caught my attention when I listened to it for the first time. I feel it is actually getting worse with time; songs like Little By Little, She Is Love, Better Man, Force Of Nature and Born On A Different Cloud all sound like a flat, boring Oasis tribute band. I do think, had the production been a bit more raw, that Hung In A Bad Place, The Hindu Times and possibly Stop Crying Your Heart Out could have been in the realm of some of Oasis's better songs, and if All In The Mind had a second verse it would have been top notch, but overall I try to forget this record ever came out.
Bring on the orchestras and choirs for this next one though! Can't wait.

Honestly, i love every song up to little by little, but i cant stand any of them that come after it I used to sort of feel that way too. It's definitely a top-heavy album.

In fact I remember first listning to the album thinking until LBL "damn, this is great!" then after it was over thinking, "wow, that went downhill!"

i love scyho and she is love. to me theyre two of the best oasis songs. as far as songbird goes, i actually think that liams wrote a lot better. better man is great i think. really groovy and rocking at the same time. im not saying its better than songbird tho.

dullest record they have ever done. The first half is rather solid. Born on a different cloud is cool too and She is Love and better man are okay. But it didn't flow well and it didn't have that many amazing tunes.

I'd go with a 6/10. The Hindu Times, SCYHO, Songbird, (Probably) All In The Mind, BOADC, and maybe Little By Little and maybe Hung In A Bad Place.
My least favorite by Oasis, but I do like a few tunes from it.

I know I'm in the minority but I think HC had the 2 best Oasis instrumentals (A Quick Peep, The Cage). I happen to love this album, but I definitely do understand how some fans can see it as being somewhat flat.

It's equal to SotSoG in that they're both OK, which isn't saying much.
I, too, feel that it would be best to create an EP (on a burned CD) for HC but would include various songs from SotSoG as well. In the end, you'd have a great album devoid of artwork, credits and shitty music.

The Hindu times, Force of Nature, Stop Crying Your heart Out, Songbird, All in the mind, Born On A Different cloud, Better Man are all good
Little By little, Hung Ina Bad Place, A Quick Peep, She Is Love are all shit.
Its a bit Oasis by the numbers but i think they needed to make that record to start over again and move forward.

Listening back to HC I think DBTT is much better as an album, which is good as it shows the band progressing. I think musically DBTT is better than HC too.
To me on HC Songbird is a classic and up there with the bands best work. There are also some good songs too; SCYHO and LBL. I think BOADC is pretty good too.
On DBTT I think there are three songs on there which are up there with the bands best work i.e. Lyla, TIOBI and LTBL. There are also some really good tracks on there too such as TUTS, MF, GGTIA, LLAB.
I haven’t got anything against HC, it’s just the band has progressed and moved forward which is a good thing. I think oasis Mk2 (with Andy and Gem) is getting better so when the next album comes out it will hopefully be a step forward again.
When I first heard The Hindu Times I thought it was great, it sounded like the rolling stones to me, but as time has gone on I don’t really like it that much any more. I think Lyla is better; The drumming, the guitar solo, the tuning and the chords just making it sound great to me.
I’m not a great fan of Force of Nature really but I’d love to hear liam sing it and put some fire into it, although I don’t think he could do the chorus.
I’m not too keen on the recorded version of A Quick Peep but the version Andy played during a solo gig in Sweden in 2006 sounds really good.
Hung In A Bad Place to me is what it is, an album track, it has a bit of energy live.
(Probably) All In The Mind doesn’t really do anything for me. Its obviously influenced by George Harrison’s “Its All Too Much” which is really good but I just think they don’t take it anywhere different and explore the idea fully.
She Is Love is a very nice song. This is not to sound disrespectful but I think it should be a b-side. I think it would be more popular if it was, like a hidden gem.
Better Man I just think this one could be developed a bit more really, lyrically and musically. Not a good choice as an album closer I think.
I hope I don’t sound too negative about HC, when it came out I liked it. As an album I don’t think it’s great but there are some really good songs on there. I shows the band have progressed. Sorry to go on and on! :-)

I think Heathen Chemistry is a great album. The only problem I got with it, is that I think it's not so loud like other Oasis albums like Be Here Now and Definitely Maybe. Other than that, It's a good album with lots of great tunes!
The Hindu Times: Good opener, and a good rock 'n' roll song! I do think Lyla is a lot better, but this one ain't that bad. I actually think the demo version of this is also good! It sounds really heavy.
Force Of Nature: Am I under the impression that a lot of people dislike this song? I actually think it's really awesome! Would've been cool to hear Liam sing it instead though.
Hung In A Bad Place: Good rock song! Lots of energy. But nowhere near the likes of Headshrinker and Bring It On Down (Hopefully we'll get a few like those two on the new album. Fingers crossed!!!).
Stop Crying Your Heart Out: Oasis classic this one without a doubt! Noel should sing it live though.
Songbird: Love this one to! I think it is one of Liams best, and it sounds very good live! Especially the City Of Manchester Stadium '05 gig!
Little By Little: Another Oasis anthem! This one is a true stadium song!
A Quick Peep: This song actually does nothing for me.
(Probably) All In The Mind: Would've been ok as a B-side. Nothing else though.
She Is Love: Quite good song this one.
Born On A Different Cloud: Love this song. A really deep song. Very different to Liams other songs who tends to be a bit more pop and rock like.
Better Man: They should start to play this song live again! This one is a real rocker! Lots of energy on it! I find the early mix of this song better though. It got a killer outro.
Well, thats my verdict on it 5.5 years later. Not Oasis' best cd, but it do have many great songs on it. And some of them should definitely not be forgotten!

I can't even fathom the love for Songbird. On the other hand, BOADC is truly amazing and Better Man just finishes it perfectly.

I still think it's a fantastic album, myself, with the only pisser being BOADC. An identical album made by any other band not named oasis would've been slobbered upon. Bet on it. The hindu times, hung in a bad place, songbird, little by little, stop crying your heart out, she is love? give me a break.

I'm a huge Oasis fan but i really do detest She is Love. Find it a very cheesy song, very un-Oasis like, cant stand it, hate it in fact !
Do love Stop Crying your Heart out and Hindu Times, the rest are pretty average really

I stick with Noel that it was "a turning point" , they proved they could make a record together. The production on that record I find, kinda of low , and really thats the only thing that bothers me about that record, and that I played that record 3 years straight and I kind of killed it for myself.

Great album. Far better than the previous two studio albums that came before it. This was a real return to form for a lot of UK Oasis fans.

Great album. Far better than the previous two studio albums that came before it. This was a real return to form for a lot of UK Oasis fans. i felt the same at the time it came out..young music aficionados started to believe in the band again. there are a lot of b-sides on the album and the production is abysmal but it is a promising transition to better days and sounds
