What polar opinions! Some hates, some like, some love. I love, from the first chord to the last one. The first post has much of my views, not all, though. I, personally, like AQB, good improvisation and good for taking a break

Also shout it out loud should have made the cut if it was not written before hand same with Idlers Dream, and Heart Of The Star I know thats quite a bit of Noel singing but those tunes are great... Shout it out loud is tied with Cast No Shadow as my favorite song from them.

The Hindu Times has always been the song to bring me up. It's hard to explain, but this song gives me some kind of energy.

I think its not bad. The good tunes are great, the others are a little middling. I think Noel put more time into the songs, unlike SOTSOG, where I think that he worked much harder on the production and the instrumentation which is brilliant. SOTSOG is lacking in the lyrics department and some, although not all obviously, of the song development. HC's production is just a little bland, and I think a couple of the songs are a bit forgettable. But the 5 or so great songs are among their best work.

It's good to hear someone likes HC over DBTT On the other hand, DBTT is still a good album, and it's great to see it sell pretty well (4 million copies )

In fact I remember first listning to the album thinking until LBL "damn, this is great!" then after it was over thinking, "wow, that went downhill!" Agreed.

I pretty much can't stand Heathen Chemistry and I'm a big Oasis fan. I like the rest of their albums but HC is just... I don't know. It just doesn't work. "Hindu Times" is good and I like "Songbird." But the rest never really comes together. I particularly can't stand "Little By Little." Ugh. Noel's low point.

This is one of my favorite Oasis b-sides (and that's definitely saying something) so I suppose HC era isn't all bad.

i think HC is better than DBTT... <braces for abuse lol>... ok i take that back i'll just say i prefer HC to DBTT me too Yeah, me as well!! i really love HC, Hindu times, SCYHO and Songbird are all amazing tunes, some of Oasis finest! honestly, I just feel that TIOBI is the only one like that in DBTT... perhaps POTQ too... but the thing is that Hindu Times it's a great rock'n'roll anthem, is just a song that lifts you up and makes you wanna conquer the world or something. I can't feel the same way about Lyla. It's a great song, but if feels like the chorus is not hte explosion you were waiting from the song. and LTBL could be absolutely massive, but I think it has a really poor production. The song should have an orchestra, more piano and more guitars so it could reach it's potencial. The song just feels to raw to me, and that's a shame, cos' I love the lyrics and the fact that Noel and Liam share vocals on this one... oh, and Liam's voice sound way better in HC

I disagree with you there, i think liam sounds great on songs like Lyla, and LTBL, and that he sounds terrible on songs like hung in a bad place or better man(my least favorite oasis song, btw)

I'd rank it about on par with Standing on the Shoulders of Giants, although I might give SOTSOG the edge, because they were at least trying something different.
The Hindu Times and Songbird are the only great songs on the album to me, and the only ones I'd rank with their early stuff. I used to hate Little by Little, but after hearing it live a couple times, it's grown on me, though I still can't stand the verse lyrics. It's cringe-worthy stuff. Probably All in the Mind is maybe the most forgettable song Noel's ever written. Aside from the chorus, I honestly can't think of how it goes despite hearing it dozens of times over the past couple of years. A Quick Peep is probably the only Andy Bell song I actually like. Gotta agree with sean that's it a cool song to play on the guitar.
All in all, Heathen Chemistry kind of reminds me of Weezer's Green Album. It's not bad. It's a light, disposable pop album that tries to call back to the band's heyday, but misses the mark.

the worst album in my opinion
3 songs of note: The Hindu Times (pure rock n roll, proper Oasis) SCYHO (absolutely beautiful, great song) Born on a different cloud (very Beatles but a fine song nonetheless)
much prefer DBTT and SOTSOG
