I'm against religion (the church), but I believe in God. I think religion is a bad thing. And there's a difference between religion and believe in God.

I don't like to put a name to it, I just don't tie myself to a religion.
My mom was only my age now, when I was 8. And her and my dad were too busy partying on the weekends until 6AM to care about that stuff.
They're Catholics.
My best friend was a Baptist, she used to push her beliefs into everyone's faces when she disagreed on whatever.
I knew another girl who was like that too, and my aunt used to say I was going to hell.
But there is more to people than just their religion. And you're always going to find another person just as strongly attached to their beliefs as the last.
But they can also change too. Both my aunt and one of my teachers aren't so narrow minded these days.
Books are also very powerful. They can make you question everything around you. When you yourself don't know what's in those pages, but you see a bunch of people going on about it in a nonsense way, of course it's got to be a bit scary.

I'm not into any organized religion. If the God's are so kind and innocent, what's with all the animal abuse(lamb slaughter, halal meat etc.), misogyny and sacrifing and suffering? And all the rules they set, and the money they demand? It exists in all religions to some extent, some religions I believe are genuinely peaceful but at what sacrifice?
I might not be making sense here but to sum it up, I heard Frankie Boyle say that religion is just a set of rules said by a mental person many years ago, that people actually believed and wrote down and followed. I kind of believe that.
I pray sometimes and my prayers are answered, sometimes they aren't so I consider myself agnostic. There are good and bad people from every religion and every race, which is why I despise racists and fascists so much.

I'm a mormon. I even spent two years serving as a missionary in Bolivia, so yes, I am a religious person.

I am an atheist and am completely against the idea of organised religion. I think it's dangerous and harmful to society.
I also don't trust people who use religion as a basis of their morality.

I don't believe in a God (or Gods) and never have. I was never Christened, my parents aren't married and nothing has ever been forced upon me. There was a slight undercurrent of Protestant Christianity at first school but it was never something I ever cared for or bothered to engage in.
I think religion is a perfectly natural quirk of a society trying to make sense of the world, however its presence in the 21st century is both a backwards and negative force.
For the most part I have a very passive attitude towards religion and accept that people's lives are unique so don't hold any religious views against them. Aggressive, pushy or offensive positions however I can't tolerate.

I'm an agnostic atheist. I don't know if there is a god or gods or a supernatural, higher power. Nobody does, just as no one knows what happens after you die... and anyone who claims to know shouldn't be trusted by anyone. Now that that's out of the way, I live my life believing there isn't a higher power until there is cold, hard, and legitimate evidence proving otherwise.
All that said, if there was some anti-semitic uprising (which I have a feeling will happen in Europe soon, although that's a different subject for a different day), I'd be on their hit list due to my Jewish heritage. (Half of my family were murdered brutally at the hands of the Nazis.) No amount of "But I'm not religious!" will help me out if or when that day ever comes.
Also, nobody should have any problems with religious people. It's the ones who force their beliefs down other peoples' throats that are the problem. Those people are assholes, no matter what religion they are. (That includes the nonreligious as well.)

I'm an agnostic atheist, or "soft" atheist. The existence of a god cannot be proved or disproved, so I wouldn't technically be on board with the statement "there is no god," as that would require evidence I don't have and hence be as much an issue of faith as theism. But I also believe that in the absence of hard empirical evidence the next best thing is to ask how *likely* is it that there's a god. Possibility doesn't mean probability. I don't believe in anything so strongly as to say it can't possibly not be so; so I care more about the likelihood of something being real than trying to just simplify it to yes or no. But the probability of a god as we would commonly think of one is so thin as to say we might as well assume for the sake of living that there is no such entity.

"...and the church all they want is your money" I don't care if people are religious and believe in some kind of super power that guides their lives - if they need guidance. To me, it's perfectly clear how and why such thing as religion was created or exists and I know it has the potential to help a lot of people in their lives. Still, it's nothing for me and to be honest, when I meet people that had the same socialisation as me and go to church and stuff, I don't really get it. It seems kind of outdated to me. I always think: how can you possibly still believe in such things? It is the 21st century. At the same time I feel bad because it sounds like I am being arogant. Religion should be a personal thing for those who need it. That's why I can't stand missionaries and churches. Also, why the fuck are there still states that aren't laicist? What has the church to do with politics? As a german I hate the fact that the dominant political party is called CHRISTIAN democratic union. Why?

Yep, anti-semitism is on the rise in the UK and Europe in general and its scary, perpetuated by the negligence of it from pro-Palestine supporters. Some sections of the media highlighted how anti-Islam sentiment has risen by 70% in five years, but conveniently forgot to express the headline that anti-semitism has risen by 90%. And get this, some low end scum suggest that racist attacks on Jews are to do with Palestine - as if that's an excuse. I support a two state solution, but if these pro-Palestine arseholes think that if Israel just do 'the right thing' then 'everything will be at peace', well they really ought to shut up. Whatever Israel does - it could hold out all the olive branches it wants, there will be neighbouring states in the Arab world that will want it destroyed forever. Because of that, it is high priority that the West must protect it at all times.

I am none of these. I prefer to called a non-denominational Christian because I really find the rituals of both sides to be ridiculous and completely defer from the whole point of actually going to church.

My Religion is something in between Voodo and Methodism. Seriously, there are al ot of good things in all of theese books. You should never force your own believes on other people. I'm an "non practicing protestant" I despise the dogma of the church but I also despise a clear anti-stance if it's only used to redicule people's pain and sorrow or to conspire against a group of people. You can't tolerate people if you can't come to terms with your hate. I believe in John Lennon, Yoko and me.

One has a navy, army and airforce and a developed economy. The other has none of these things but is poor, hemmed in and has at times a desperate population reliant on hostile neighbours to allow supplies in (which they sometimes don't depending on there agenda). Which Arab states are currently capable of attacking Israel? And while they have america's backing which of those that can would ever seriously consider it?

Which Arab states are currently capable of attacking Israel? And while they have america's backing which of those that can would ever seriously consider it? What? There are plenty of real threats to Israel. And part of the problem is you get these absolute roasters in this country who think the US should abandon all support for Israel - well until Israel stop being threatened by religious fundamentalist nutjobs in the Middle East, then it's stupidity beyond belief to abandon a position for Israel. Also, I don't believe Israel are an innocent party but I was just merely stating that even if they were the epitome of an innocent country with high-level diplomacy, then there would still be threats towards them. Terrorist groups like Hamas, Hizbollah and various others in the Middle East want Israel destroyed regardless of their status. If anything is to be destroyed it is those fundamentalist groups. I'm not saying the US should be purely pro-Israel - I believe in a two state solution but if people think the problem of threats and fundamentalist positions towards Israel will go away with a two-state solution... come on, that's just silly.

A bit off topic, but just a point of annoyance that came up today - can religious people stop saying that they believe in God because they don't believe in a meaningless universe? YOUR UNIVERSE IS EVERY BIT AS MEANINGLESS AS MINE, YOU'VE JUST MADE UP SOME FANTASY TO MAKE IT NICER.
Phew...and relax.

Agnostic. I think I believe in God, but not religion. If there's a god then you'll be crash.. Wait no. If there's a god, I don't believe he'd expect us to only eat certain types of meat and women to have limited rights etc. he'd want us all to have freedom.

It's interesting because I've been brought up by a very religious parent and they've never tried to force the religion on me at all, which I respect them for immensely.
