What a fuckig joke that was. I was at the worst oasis gig of my entire life, it was my 20th Oasis gig so far and i never want one like that again. First of all, i should saw that the band sounded absolutely brilliant, Liam's voice was on top form. The stage show was better than MSG as they had some screens showing the band, some slogans etc. And for the girlies, i have never seen Liam look so good for ages !!! The first downer of the night was on the way into the stadium, when some scummy chancer was asking us for help finding the correct turnstile to enter, him and three of his mates crowded round us asking to see our tickets to compare them with his. It was obvious he was trying to steal them but David just kept them in his pocket. Security weren't searching people properly, just having a quick glance in their bags so there was plenty alcohol in glass bottles in the stadium. Obviously everybody likes to have a drink at a gig but really, is there any need for people to be so drunk that they can hardley stand up and fall into other people ? The people we ended up beside were a disgrace, they were in their early 30's and were falling all over the place and they were taunting people around them, including one of my mates. During Live Forever, David offered to put me on his shoulders but i said no because i could tell it was all going to kick off. On cue, these arseholes started fighting with people, we moved away nearer the back and we could see people running down into the crowd and just punching random people. I even saw a girl in her 20's getting punched by a man, that is so scummy. During Songbird, i saw a young guu getting taken out with security because someone had obviously hit him with a bottle on the face. For the first time in my life, i left an oasis gig early because the atmosphere was so shady. We went half way through My Generation and i looked back and half of the park ( standing section ) was empty. I have never seen so many people leave a gig early. So, i'd like to say to these so called scummy oasis fans that ruined my night, thanks so much !!! Actually, i wouldnt call them Oasis fans, they looked as if they only knew wonderwall and DLBIA. So for all those neds that were at the gig, i would to say that you all look like smelly filthy disgusting little cretins, you think you are cool but really, you are scum. And then to top it off, we got back to my sister's brand new car that she only bought last week and some junkie scum had smashed the window, stole THREE cd's and her glasses that she uses for driving !!! One of my friends had travelled up from England for the gig and i was ashamed to take him to a shit night like that. Fucking hell, that was a rant and a half, i had to get that out of my system !! Yikes! I feel like Im having Deja Vu of the Philly gig last week! So sorry u had a horrid time Nicola...Sounds like the crowd was full of drunken chavs...They really should do a better job with security and alcohol at these things. Atleast do a proper search and confiscate any bottles. Ah well, I hope u have a better experience at ur 21st Oasis gig!

I'd say he was about 5'9 the most. He seemed average to me...Never struck me as tall to begin with anyway. Now, Noel is the short one! He was like 5'6 the most!

I think some people just had bad luck. I was up the front at the gig, and there were quite a few neds around, but they all just seemed loved up. They were having a laugh and shaking hands with people, going along with the jokes and generally in good spirits.
I never got hit with any bottles. I never seen anyone get hit with any bottles. I never seen one punch get thrown. I seen a bunch of people who were drunk having a good time. It was amazing.

NicolaUk You have summed up exactly how me and my mates feel. We've been to loads of gigs but to be honest this one was spoilt by these moronic excuses of fans The atmosphere was of pure trouble,we left during My generation as we didn't want to wade through the scum on the way out and risk a fight or worse Having been part of the 125,000 at Knebworth this was an insult this gig - please do us all a favour and stay at home jacking up or go out stealing stereo's in future. Did anyone watch what was going on at the sides of the pitch when the crowd were trying to get from there seating seats onto the standing section - it was near a riot at times We could sense trouble brewing on the train to Hampden - pissed up,vicious thugs....rant over Long live Oasis

My train to Hampden was pissed up people having a laugh and the whole train singing The Masterplan. I'm beginning to wonder if I was at a different gig to everyone else.

I'm an old bird at 30, been to 20 Oasis gigs and countless others and i have never experienced anything like that in my life. Okay, you will nearly always get a bit of a fight especially at massive outdoor gigs but these were people who were intent on fighting, they were taunting people to get a rise out of them. During Live Forever, there was a full on fight involving at least 15 or so people. Live Forever ? I was just happy to live until the end of the song !!! For those that had a good time, i'm really jealous but glad at least some people did.

yeah nic - lucky him never again will i go and see oasis outside I'll go to outdoor gigs again but i will get seating for Hampden, people in seating seemed to be having a great time, most of the singing was coming from them. I'm just hoping that Manchester will be better, surely it cant be worse than Hampden.

You're always going to get plastic bottles, cups, piss or all three combined being chucked at gigs, thats the norm i suppose but this was well out of order and its mostly due to security. They're never going to stop it but they could maybe do their jobs properly. Were you at Murrayfield in 2000 ? That was a stadium gig with no alcohol but everyone was searched and it was a brilliant day. Everyone just sat outside with their carry outs and had a laugh. I feel so sorry for the poor guy that i saw being taken out during songbird because someone had hit him with a bottle. His face was in some mess and he was only about 19-20, its out od order. Yeah I was, and here is the funny thing - your experience of the Murrayfield gig was completley different from mine. We went in early coz we wanted to see Doves and between them finishing and the Happy Mondays starting there was a full scale riot! Some idiot pulled out a Red Hand Of Ulster flag while sitting on his mates shoulders. He was then pelted to death in a hale of bottles and then a group of Celtic fans charged him and his mates. The guy got a real doing, it was pretty scary. So I guess in these huge gigs there is always gonna be idiots looking for bother, Oasis seem to attract them, Honestly Nicola, I didnt see any bother really on Wednesday, me and my mates had a great time.

Alot depends on where you're located it's just the luck of the draw. At Murrayfield I could see trouble brewing but was well away from it. Then at Braehead everything was pretty calm. A few drunkards falling all over the place and some idiot tried to ring his sweat over my then girlfriend (now wife) on the way out. Braehead was easier to police though, much smaller crowd.
My heart goes out to you because the show was ruined for you. That totally sucks. Oasis do have a ned/chav/yob culture that follows them as well as the good. You were just unfortunate to be located at the scene of the crime. So often the behaviour of a few messes it up for the rest of us. I remember they walked off the SECC 1st night 'cos some wee ned chucked a bottle at a band member.

I don't think it's fair to associate this with Glasgow though. At Murrayfield alot of shit happened, including some gang from Leeds attacking random fans near the stadium. At Finsbury Park trouble was brewing too and I was dodging piss bottles for the first hour. Even at Boston the other night there was a bit of tension around in places although not as apparent as what you describe at Hampden. To me Oasis attract a wide range of fans including some downright low-class tossers.

Totally agree with that, you cant blame it on being in Glasgow, if that gig had been in another city, all the idiots woud have travelled to it anyway. The ironic thing is, Liam said during the show - "No drinking in the venue? Scotland you've gone soft, whats up with yous man? Cant have a drink at our gig? Whats all that about?" ;D

Okay, what exactly is a "Ned" and a "Yob"? Ive heard of "Chav" but pls enlighten me with the other two names...U don't hear these terms being used much (if at all) in New York City!

Manchester gig (2nd) probably wasn't much better. Some fucking scouse nobheads tried to start a fight with me just for walking past them as I was going into the crowd. And it was alot rowdier than the crowd at the last oasis concert I was at, at the LCCC in 2002. I saw alot of scallies and fucking people who were obviously not there for the music, but whatever, I suppose you'll always get vaginas like that at these things. I still had a pretty good day all things considered.

A ned is basically Scottish slang, and is the equivalent of the English chav. Basically young guys in groups who usually commit petty crimes and like to start trouble in large groups. A yob is also just a lowlife who likes to stir up trouble and start off fights for no apparent reason. In a nutshell, in the context of what we're discussing, it's typically a bunch of young guys of a lwer class who end up at gigs not so much for the music but to cause a bit of trouble with large groups of people. People who travel in groups and cause trouble for no justifiable reason whatsoever and spoil it for the rest of us.
