Word is from DailyhitsDouble is that Mariah Carey is set to retake #1 spot in U.S. next week and Oasis is looking at 70k+ and could go higher and may land them top 15 or better. Here is the second half of the article after mention of Mariah Carey.

As always, predictions such as this are based on early reports from national accounts and could change completely by tomorrow (or the next day), at which point we will likely pretend that this story never existed. Thank you.
The highest-debuting record on next week’s chart, which happens also to be this week’s only major release, will be Oasis’ Don’t Believe the Truth (Epic). Those early reports from national accounts we just mentioned indicate that the Brit-poppers’ latest is doing respectable numbers and should come in on target at around 60k-70k, with some feeling it could trend higher as the week progresses. That should be good for a Top 15 chart berth.
Meanwhile, next Tuesday’s packing major heat, with Coldplay’s X&Y (Capitol), Black Eyed Peas’ Monkey Business (Interscope) and the White Stripes’ Get Behind Me, Satan (V2) each hitting the streets. Pre-release buzz has Coldplay rubbing up against 500k in its first week, with the ’Peas doing 200k-250k and the ’Stripes notching as much as 200k.

i have a sick feeling coldplay will hit #1 in the US.... i think i'll have to soak in bleach for a while if that happens so i can get rid of the dirty feeling after seeing that.

Just to say, why people worry about charts is beyond me. I want Oasis to do well mind you but so many people that buy 1 or 2 cd's a year or moms with kids that love G. Paltrow will buy X&Y and sing 'Speed of Sound' not 'Lyla' or 'TUTS' Oasis is harder rock.
I would love to see DBTT to go Gold at least. It will take a radio huge hit to do it though. That's all it takes in U.S.

Just to think that Puff Daddy kept Be Here Now from the top spot.
After BHN flopped as critics say (even though it is quite good and went platinum) it was over.
Coldplay has done everything right in the U.S. so they deserve waht they get.
I personally think Travis is better. Let it go...it's just charts.
I don't think The Stone Roses even ever cracked top 50 in U.S., so what does it mean??

Coldplay will probably have the biggest "rock" album of the year in the U.S. Hardly a surprise that Oasis won't outsell them here. Life ain't fair.

Hey i'm just glad that we're getting great music this summer what with DBTT already out and X&Y and the new foo fighters....sounds like a good summer for music if you ask me..I'm glad Oasis are quite possibly on their way to re-establishing themselves as a force here in the States but we shouldnt take Coldplay's successes here as a dig on Oasis...I care about the successes of each band but you can't really judge the quality of an album on record sales...No matter how good DBTT may be it never received any type of promotion here in the states at all...That doesnt affect how i think of the album though...So yeah its more likely than not that Coldplay will go number one next week (and i'll be happy) but that doesnt mean that they're better than Oasis...Kinda like that whole "Crazy Frog" single debacle...Ten years from now that ringtone will be an afterthought while people will still be talking about "Proof" and "Things I Dont Understand" (Great B-Sides by the way)

Honestly: I watched VH1 for a few hours hoping to see Lyla on - in that time I saw a Coldplay video played SIX FREAKING TIMES - honestly - how are they even compared to Oasis? One is steak, the other is luke warm oatmeal. I guess if you're a vegetarian or have no teeth the oatmeal is better - but c'mon, who doesn't like a good steak?

I don't know why some people just can't take it as it comes....both bands are great in their own special way!!...Coldplay is NOT Oasis...just as Oasis is not Coldplay....The Beatles were nothing like The Rolling Stones and viceversa...just appreciate it!!....God only knows how long we'll have to wait to have 2 great albums by 2 great bands again...

Well, I'm a guy who doesn't own a single Coldplay album, I have ONE Coldplay mp3 on my computer(when I was putting together an acoustic CD - I dled yellow - needless to say, I've played it once, and it didn't go on the CD) - and everytime I see a video, I have to turn it off because I know it sounds exactly like all of their songs(and their videos are all about the same - Chris Martin acting like he's rocking hardcore to some music even senior citizens from 1900 would call 'light music') - I just don't get them at all...
BTW, X&Y are the chromosome for a man - which is why I found it funny- if Paltrow didn't pop out a little one, I would be questioning whether or not Martin even had a Y chromosome...
Oh take that bit back about Coldplay - I do like the piano bit from Scientist, or maybe that was another song that sounds just like it - I can't remember...
Travis is to Coldplay as Slayer is to Kenny G. Yeah, that's the type of pussy 'rock' they put out...

coldplay have sucked corporate cock and slept with celebrities to get them where they're at. they did the smart thing. oasis have walked out of tours, walked out of meeting with suits and have disrespected the people in power.
