[quote author=kalas board=DBTT thread=1116036229 post=1116040912in a way i wish the beatles stayed together and pauls tunes that he released with wings would be a "beatle" tune they would be catchin some greif then ;D...and dont anyone tell me it would be different if they were still together because 95 percent of the songs john and paul wrote as lennon/macca were written seperatly so in the 70s paul would have been writin that crap he wrote in wings and the beatle legend would have suffered just like noel is sufferin now cause he keeps plugging away under the OASIS umbrella[/quote] Ok...I haven't heard DBTT. But I take issue with this. John, Paul, George, and Ringo each produced too much work in the 1970s. If you were to condense each album down to the proportion of songs they would have been able to release under the "Beatle" umbrella, you still would have Beatle-quality albums, I reckon. For every "Bip Bop" and "With a Little Luck", you've also got a "Maybe I'm Amazed" and "Comin Up", both of which would definitely have made it on to Beatle records.

Plus, Paul (and John.George) would've put out less crap with the other bandmates looking over his shoulder.

Hey Kalas
Why two posts replying to my small riposte?? and only a few minutes apart - I think you just repeated yourself , except for the part asking why I direct my post(s) at you. Maybe it's got something to do with the fact that we've been having a 'sort' of ongoing conversation regarding this issue or was it that you responded directly to a post I made? & then I responded back... etc... etc... whatever..
I understand your point about the 3 different , distinct , dissasociated , disparate , songwriters and I appreciate that each has there own style which is different and distinctive to Noel's but I don't think you understood the MAIN POINT I was raising , and that is that NOEL is the BOSS. He controls what songs are recorded and played , Oasis is not a democracy In other words he will only allow - & this goes for himself as well - songs that have an Oasis "sound" or that feel right for the band. I've heard him in interviews where he's said that he didn't consider a particular song he wrote for the band coz it didn't "sound" like an Oasis song. He knows and controls what the Oasis sound , style , attitude , image and direction is and will be.
So sure there are now 3 'other' songwriters in the band. Big deal!!! It doesn't mean anything unless the chief lets it mean anything.
This then goes to the heart of the matter and the question raised by yourself & others about Oasis changing their sound & style etc... and how ppl whinge about their new material not being like DM & WTSMG. My point is that they haven't changed , maybe superficially , but not deep profound change or progression. To me they still have the same sound & style as they did 10 yrs ago. The songs may not be as good , as outstanding but they are nontheless better that a lot of crap out there.
I bought the Lyla single a few days ago backed by Eyeball Tickler and Won't let u down. It still sounds like the same old Oasis to me. Nothing different. Great melodies , killer guitar riffs , big sound , vocals with atitude and songs that sound like nothing else around - another typical Oasis single.
And to lionsden - was the slapnut directed at Kalas or myself??? Doesn't sound too complimentary.

Killer guitar riffs, there isnt a single killer guitar riff on the album!!!! if only they had a riff for LTBL it would be fantastic.

I was talking about the single. Eyeball Tickler's got some great guitar riffs courtesy of Mr Archer and Lyla has that partly Gene Genie riff that sounds great too. WLUD is a top tune , obviously very Lennonesque.
