Rubber Soul is by far The Beatles best album.
Exile On main Street is BORING!!!! I don't really think The Stones ever made a decent album. Many great singles & songs.
Quadrophenia??? Please!!!!!!
Anyone who thinks that Oasis have changed are kidding themselves. The Fundamentals behind the band are still all there. Noel drinks from the fountain of Beatles , Pistols & Floyd and that hasn't changed in 10yrs. The only thing that changes is the % of quantity used of each one on each successive album.
Kalas , you're an idiot!

i suppose we should feel honoured that people believe and expect more out of oasis cos they know they are capable of living up to that standard. I think so as well. I am glad that they aren't just some other ordinary band. This doesn't mean that I dislike the new album. In fact, I love the new album and all the Oasis albums that came before it. In my opinion, if it's got Noel and Liam Gallagher on it, it's going to be great.

Would just like to point something out to all of you who are sick of people not supporting the band and slagging them off..... .....Will you all be supporting the band by going out and buying o copy of the album or will you just be sitting smileing to yourselves with your downloaded leaked copy? Was just wandering coz a lot of you seem to have not been able to wait for the official release and have downloaded the leaked material!!!!!!!!!!

I would say that most of the people who are taking the time to post on here and love the band as much as us will be buying the album. I know I will be the day it comes out. You have to remember that when the album leaked, there was still a month until the official release. That's a long time to wait when you can just download the leaked tracks and listen to it and then buy the album when it comes out. I see nothing wrong with it.

your point should be apparent to every member of this forum. it's sad that this thread was even started. people who think overwise need to leave i hear ya..i dont want people to leave ..but the crap about the lp not bein OASIS sounding needs to stop.its OASIS in 2005..10 years older 10 years richer ..could mick jagger write street fightin man in 1980 ? no fuckin way..good point shaker00 I'm delighted that Oasis have finally succeeded in making an album that is very good but also slightly different from what they've done before. It's a reinvention in my book and although I would say some of the stuff on DBTT is a bit stodgy (disappointed with Turn Up The Sun and the production on A Bell Will Ring and Keep The Dream Alive) there is something fresh there that has been missing for some time. Been waiting 10 years to say that! Oh, and I haven't downloaded the album, just listened to the songs. Will of course be buying it on the 30th - anyone who doesn't is not a proper fan.

Lyla sounds like any other Oasis song.

After reading the reviews in the thread that was specially set up for that purpose it seems to me that; 1/ there seems to be a wide range of differing opinions on this album & 2/ That it's just another Oasis album. No 1. doesn't really surprise me coz everyone has different tastes in music ,even music critics have their preferences. I just find it hard to believe that Oasis will ever come up with anything that different. Their sound & style is very much entrenched and I think you either love it or hate it. To be honest I don't think they'll really ever change. That's probably why a lot of the critics are calling it just another Oasis album.

Hey , and the only reason I called u an idiot is coz I think it's daft to say that ppl are bashing their new album coz it's not a DM or WTSMG when u say that they've changed & that they are a different band. Personally I don't think they've evolved that much at all. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the songs on HC & maybe even DBTT were written yrs ago. Their main influences - Beatles , Pistols and Floyd have been and always will be the staple diet of inspiration for Noel's and Liam's songs. Maybe Gem & Andy have a wider palette to draw inspiration from though I still think they definitely have a deep 60's influence in their writing which suits the band perfectly anyway , so no complaints there. As I said I haven't heard the album yet but from everything I've read and heard so far It doesn't seem to be too different from past efforts. For Oasis to really evolve and be different they would have to change direction alltogether and experiment with other genres and styles. I don't think that's likely to happen. Could u imagine them experimenting with electronic music or Hip Hop or even World music?? They have a style , sound , look & attutude that may not be original or different but it certainly shits over anything out there at the moment.

Oasis and America. Am I the only one who doesn’t give a shit anymore? I’m not prepared to get in a bad mood over that ever again. Would I be the happiest guy in the world if they blew everybody away on the US charts? Of course I would. I just don’t see it happening in the near future. Ask an American what coolest thing to happen in music would be. He would probably tell you that as long as the music was catchy and easy to listen to, he would be happy. Ask someone in the UK, and words like: “as good, or even better than The Beatles” would probably be mentioned. I don’t mean to slag off the Americans (and definitely not the great ones on this forum) but the contemporary music scene over there doesn’t seem to leave a lot of room to oasis. I’m only 24 but I sound like a fucking old man!! Fucking, fuck.

Says nout about how good the music. The Americans who dig it, dig it - and thats cool. Just sit back and appreciate the sound and forget the numbers and sales - they're an irrelevance

Hey Kalas
I take your point on Noel but keep in mind that even though he may not write ALL the songs these days I think he pretty much controls the band - he's the Master of the ship - and as such controls the artistic and musical direction of the band. If Oasis were a complete democracy , say like Pulp were , then they would share all royalties & or credits equally. Have u seen the DVD footage that came with HC?, it's a brief doco on the making of the album, it came as a bonus on the Aussie release. Liam says that whenever they tried something different Noel would come along with "His Whip" and tell em to scrap it. If you look at Andy and Gem on stage they barely make a sound , never say anything or show that much emotion. Even though I respect them as musos & songwriters they always looked like they were session or back-up musos for Noel & Liam. The mere fact that Andy , a guitarist not bass player , was convinced to change to bass in order to play for Oasis speaks volumes. Noel is obviously a "smart operator" , I think he liked the look of Andy & Gem , told em exactly what they had to do if they wanted to join the band and then duly recruited them.
Also , have u ever thought that maybe Noel is running a bit 'dry' with song ideas? Now that he's a multimillionaire and has achieved most if not all his Rock 'n' Roll dreams he's probably not as hungry or ambitious as before.
