I reckon there is three categories
The near-perfections (which I listen to weekly):
1. Definitely Maybe
2. (What's The Story) Morning Glory
3. Be Here Now
4. Don't Believe The Truth
5. Chasing Yesterday
The flawed but often incredible:
6. Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants
7. Noel Gallaghers High Flying Birds (Self Titled)
The seriously flawed (where the odd song is played regularly but the rest is really poor):
8. Dig Out Your Soul
9. Heathen Chemistry
10. BE
11. Different Gear Still Speeding
Most of that last section are let down by Liam's Vocals (excluding HC) and very sub-par songs. DOYS makes the top of that list only due to its 2 or 3 redeeming songs (Falling Down, Outta Time, Turning). Real shame about BE though, some good songs but by far Liams worst studio vocals ever, possibly due to the production which kept them sounding too present.

Brilliant album, bar 3 tracks. To have DOYS ranked as low as HC is blasphemy. Just my opinion really. Lots of people hate DBTT too but I love it. I guess DOYS was just disappointing for me in terms of Liams Vocals and the bad songs being so bad. I admit there are some quality songs on that album (TSOTL, Falling Down, The Turning, Bag It Up, I'm Outta Time). All fantastic songs, but the rest are among the worst songs they've ever done (Ain't Got Nothin is as bad to me as Probably All In The Mind) |
