i have just realised that between 00 and 05 noel has only released 13 tunes he wrote 7 on hc i believe and he has 6 on this one thats not alot of work for 5 damn years . when u take into account between 94 and 99 he released over 50 tunes it gets me wonderin if there will be another 3 year wait..i know he said they had 66 tunes but to only release 13 in 5 years is kinda limited no not slaggin off the cheif u know i love them but is anyone else concerned with the cheif writer seemingly slowing down?

I think that the really intersting thing is that as Liam has matured as a song writer he will pick up a lot of slack.
If that happens and Andy and Gem keep putting tunes forth, you get a very creative competition flowing.
Gallagher/Gallager the next Lennon/McCartney?

and nobody really knows when he actually wrote those songs either. we know he wrote it's a crime prior to giants, put it on the demo's and then dumped it for 5 years. the vein of the other tunes is gona be different than this one but i still wouldnt be suprised if their resurections of prior sessions. richard ashcroft did the same with most stuff he released by himself. dunno..they had all the crap they get from the papers

I don't give fuck how long it takes them to make tunes. Had they put out DBTT after glasto? I don't know if it had been bad, but I know it's good know!!

Gallagher/Gallager the next Lennon/McCartney? believe me i hope you are right! it just occured to me how long its been between lps and how little noel has written compared to the glory years,,i dont expect DM i know he has matured but i do expect more writing than 11 tunes

I think he wrote much more than that... I remember he mentioned songs like I live a dream in my record machine and even "famous" Stop the clocks.... I believe that he´s writing much more, than we know... And you have to notice, that in years 1994-1999 he didn´t write almost any songs... most of the songs from first three albums he wrote during is "inspiral carpets roadie" era...I read somewhere, that he wrote them in 14 days It means, that now he´s writing much more than in second half of ninetees!!!

if noel contributes 6 QUALITY tunes per album id prefer that to 6 quality and a few substandard ones. liams on the up and the new album indicates there are four quality writers in oasis -especially the 'liam assisted by gem' partnership. im hopin a new album will follow soon since the band arent touring next year (zak goes back to the who remember). who knows how long it will be but knowing oasis itl be ages

You can't leave out b-sides. But hey, they had a big break, plus, new songwriters-- Noel had to give room.
Oasis has just gone through some changes. I think songwriting partnerships would be interesting. And remember, this was going to be a double album-- Oasis have a lot of material left over and each of them are always writing tunes.

Kalas
I see your point. I know you're not knocking the Chief but you're getting a bit concerned that there's less activity from Noel. I agree with one of the other posters, I think he's getting alot more onto paper than through your speakers. That could be for a number of reasons. I happen to trhink of the following possibilities........
Noel is actually happier with the band these days than in the mid-nineties IMO. It was after SOTSOG that the songwriting started getting shared around. It's no co-incidence that around the same time Gem & Andy joined while Liam developed his talent for songwriting also. By '02, the first album that the 'new' band collectively worked on hit the scene with Liam having had 2/3 more years since Little James and Gem & Andy establishing themselves in the band. That album was of course HC which seen alot more sharing of the songwriting. As Noel is on record as saying, in the 90's the band was more of a lad culture, us & them type thing. Whereas these days it's more of a musical band. There's brainstorming, open forum and contributions from all angles which has eased the load on Noel. Gem has came in and put his piece in whilst helping to put Liam's ideas down into something tangible, Andy has come in and of course the Chief is still doing his thing.
There's also the issue of signing a new record deal. There's a bit of tension between he & Sony, which he makes no secret of, for example his comments (made publicly) regarding the choice of Lyla as the first single and how he wants to address that type of thing on the next deal.
To me, the DM and WTSMG songs are everything he was waiting to say all his life. He was born to make those records. Whereas now you can see he has matured and his more recent songs reflect his growth as a person and his experiences over the last number of years. Songs like Gas Panic talk of him coming off drugs, Part of The Queue is about how London's become overpopulated, soul-less and less like home.
To me, in summary, the songs of the mid 90's depict everything the man is about, and the more recent songs are memoirs of his life stage at the said point (ie 2001/2 for HC, 04/05 for DBTT etc
