Yeah, I fuckin' love Oasis because they wanted to be the biggest band in the world and they forced me to love them. Not cause, you know, the music is good. I'm forced to listen to them.

The Arcade Fire are a band that has built their reputation and fanbase off of endorsements from other bands/artists. For example Chris Martin and Coldplay at the time of AF's first album they were receiving nothing but praise from Chris and the members of Coldplay.

i just saw them on Saturday Night Live. I guess I have to hear something else. I'm sure the quote was taken out of context as always. But I'll check some of their other stuff out. But the lead singer seems kind of lame.

Yea I must be missing something too, they were on SNL and honestly kindof creeped me out. The lead singer looks like a Skinhead and had the lamest voice I've heard in awhile.

Maybe if I didn't see them on SNL I'd think differently. But the lead singer looked like Frankenstein with a bad haircut. And his voice was kind of boring. But that's just my opinion. They're much better than emo...but I don't know if I could get into them. But that's just my opinion.

This is a complete load of shit. Since when have Oasis been mass-marketing themselves? The only thing that even comes to memory in terms of marketing would be "All Around The World" and AT&T.. But other then that you could never claim Oasis are a bunch of merchandise whores.
U2 is far, far worse when it comes to that crap, like their "iPod" version.
Don't get me wrong, I like quite a few of Arcade Fire's tunes, and they are Canadian (so that by itself gives them some points). But I really hope he was "mis-quoted". Because there is no basis for the shit he's saying.

I like that though - its surreal ;D At least they dont look like typical indie clones. nothing wrong with being different as for whatever they did or did not say about Oasis, U2 and the Stones.... well i find it funny how people on this forum always feel the need to defend Oasis. fucks sake - how many bands have Noel and Liam slagged off over the years? i havent heard their new album yet, but 'Funeral' is brilliant. One of my favourite albums of recent years. maybe they arent everyones type, they arent exactly rockers. But if anyone wants to have a taste then I'd say just download the first track of Funeral - Neighbourhood 1. Lionsden - you cant take the piss out of how they look..... considering the blonde guy looks like you! ;D |

alot of strings and church organs, sounds very....'big'
and yeah totally agree daysleeper, people see their arse when oasis get slagged off but should liam call someone a plantpot then they think hes a right badass.
