Does anyone else think that the press perception of Be Here Now would be a hell of a lot different if it had turned out to be Oasis' last album? Say they had broken up after Be Here Now in about 1998 or 1999, I think the press would remember Be Here Now as arguably their finest album and an epic farewell rather than bloated and over-produced. Because remember NME originally gave it 9/10 and a lot of other magazines and newspapers gave it great scores too. If it had been their final album, I think people would remember it far more kindly and they'd be saying "if only Oasis had gone on to make more albums".
Any thoughts?

BHN is my least favorite Oasis album. agreed. Theres some good tunes on their that were ruined by awful production and shite lyrics. The Girl In The Dirty Shirt is a prime example - a good 3min tune with awful lyrics and about 769 choruses. I wouldn't mind knowing how many times the line 'you know I see' is repeated.

Girl in the Dirty shirt is fantastic. The repeated choruses and long outro and instrumental sections in BHN songs are great, it set it apart from their previous albums and overall its just easily their second best album behind morning glory for me. Far better than their latest three albums especially. Their latest three albums (especially SOTSOG & HC) seem like they are trying far too hard.

I know I'll get stoned for saying this, but I think DM is "slightly" overrated. No that's not the right word actually. I still absolutely adore it, definitely a 9/10 album in my opinion. Just I think it lacks the variety of MG or BHN. Its all down to personal preference, whenever I listen to DM though I miss the fact that there are no songs like Champagne Supernova, All Around The World or Magic Pie on it. Still I really like every Oasis album. I just cannot understand why people don't like BHN. I don't know why people see a song being long as a down side, I've never understood that and I guess I never will.

A song being long isn't a bad thing
A song being overly repetitive and soulless IS.

Be Here Now : D'Ya Know What I Mean , My Big Mouth , Don't Go Away , Fade In/Out , It's Gettin' Better & All Around The World ...
Epic album..Fantastic .. N.M.E & Q gave highest reviews at the time ... 8 years later i still play it a lot and remember the first day i play it at home..fantastic ... Exactly the album i wanted to hear back then ..
Fantastic tracks , fantastic b sides , Liam's voice was at the top ... Noel could have spend more time on the lyrics ( but he never really did it anyway )
I remember him slagging off BHN recently and sayin' that he was proud of some lyrics on SOTSOG...But i remember him slagging off such songs as " mother " by lennon , too personnal in his opinion but Gas Panic is effing personnal .. anyway , just my point of you ....
+ when he slaggs off BHN i always feel like he's saying to a fan ( 7 millions copies worldwide )
: hey , what you love is shit...
Which i could reply :
yeah , that's yours and i like it 10 times better than your story about your best friend calling you and telling you that you're crazy while your missus says you're lazy ... Oh and by the way Mucky fingers is .... how do you call it ?

Be Here Now; Some people love it, some people hate it. The press did both. That's what annoys me the most.
I'm not saying it's good or bad but it's the type of album they were always going to make because of what was going on in and around the band at the time. People telling them they were gonna be as big as the beatles, all the cocaine etc.
God another dicussion about Be Here Now! I'm going for a lie down. ;D

Actually I think you meant to say AATW, DKWIM, SBM, DGA, IGBM and MBM blow away everything on DBTT (although I do like that too, its no BHN). And as for Noel's BHN comments, when the next Oasis album is coming out he'll be saying how shit DBTT is, just you wait.

everything noel has said about that album is spot on.
its soulless, lengthy, unimaginative and coke fuelled.
It only has 3 good songs:
DYKWIM, MP and FIO.
the rest are rank
